The nationally acclaimed Stowe Recreation Path winds through the Village and along the river, providing miles of unspoiled views while walking, biking, or skating to shops and attractions. Nearby Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest mountain, provides for great hiking, gondola rides, zip-lines and of course skiing. Dozens of restaurants and bars are located within walking distance from the condo. The Village Green Resort is located across the street from the Stowe Golf and Country Club which is open to the public. This 18-hole mountain course is very scenic and challenging and has one of the best Golf Schools in the country. Open from Mid-May until Mid-October.
Parking is easy, just outside the front door. No stairs to climb for loading and unloading groceries or gear. During ski season, a shuttle bus picks up at the Stoweflake Resort, a short walk across the street.
Village Green amenities on-site include: Tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools with chaise lounges, hot tub, sauna and community building with game room and ping pong table.
Vermont's Long Trail is within 12 miles of our house and provides wonderful hiking. If you like to hike up the ski trails, the gondola ride down is free and easy on the knees. Biking opportunities in the valleys or mountains are virtually endless. The large Waterbury Reservoir provides ample water-based activities from swimming to water skiing. There is a sandy area for easy access to the water and grassy areas for picnics. Umiak provides kayaks and canoes for rent. Fishing is also popular in the reservoir and local rivers. Several swimming holes can be found off the bike path or along the mountain road.
Restaurants and bars within walking distance include: Idletyme Brewing Company, Charlie B’s, Sushi Yoshi, Tres Amigos, Piecasso, Blue Donkey, bowling at Sun & Ski, Heady Topper brewery, and Sunset Grille & Tap Room. A short bike ride or drive will take you to The Bench, Doc Ponds, McCarthy's (great breakfast) and dozens of other great restaurants.

An early Spring traditional is "sugar on snow" offering skiers a last opportunity to enjoy shaving corn snow, watching the sugar slalom and tasting locally produced Vermont maple syrup. June brings the annual Canoe & Kayaking and Stowe Flower and Garden festivals.
During the summer you may enjoy: The Stoweflake Balloon Festival, The Antique & Classic car Meet, The Mozart Festival, Music in the Meadow, The Stowe Craft Fair, Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks; The Stowe Bicycle Race and The World's Shortest Marathon. You can also find adrenaline on the Stowe Zipline Canopy Tour, horseback riding, antiquing, The Helen Day Art Center, Summer Theater, or tea at a local working sheep farm.
Late in September, leaves begin to turn to various shades of red, orange, and yellow. This is when many artists, photographers, and leaf peepers find Stowe in all its glory. You will also find The Fall Foliage Craft Fair, The British Invasion car show, Oktoberfest and some Fall Foliage Golf Tournaments at the Stowe Country Club.
