We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage, thank you very much ! The accomodation was lovely and the pool the best we have ever had on a self catering holiday.. Edward is going to miss his daily swim..! Thank you for your kind hospitality it was lovely to meet you and your family....
We had a lovely week at Le Pied du Buisson with our 2 yr old daughter. The house & surrounding garden are simply beautiful and the pool is a great bonus! Limeuil is just a short walk and great to wander round (the gardens at the top of the hill worth a visit!). We really enjoyed the many sites the region has to offer and the cottage is a great base for exploring. We would really recommend this tranquil spot!
Really enjoyed the area with all its sights and historical interest.
Cottage was lovely and pool was superb.
Short walk to Limieul through woodland, very pleasant and good choice of restaurants.
Owners were helpful and unobtrusive, you'd never know they were there until you needed something...
We had a lovely time here. The children, 8 and 6, had a great time in the pool and the garden was huge. The village of Limeuil was beautiful. Lots of activities to do within a short distance & access to large shops when needed. Karen was very friendly & helpful. A great property in a gorgeous area of France.
Our family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) really enjoyed this property for our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the unit was comfortable. the grounds of the property were beautiful and the pool was great - really nice to cool off on those hot days. We also liked the nearby town of Limeuil which is a lovely old medieval town. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the river having a drink at one of the town restaurants. The property is also very well situated for exploring the region. Highly recommended overall.
My family (2 adults, 11 and 9 year olds) had a fantastic 2 week stay here in this beautiful cottage with loads of character. It it well equipped and comfortable. We loved sitting out on the terrace and barbecuing in the hot evening sunshine. We all enjoyed playing in and lounging by the chlorine-free private pool. It was also great having the helpful owners nearby. When we decided to be more energetic, there was plenty to do nearby. The village of Limeuil is very pretty and has several craft shops and restaurants. The river beach is just a 10min walk or a lazy 5 min drive and we hired canoes from here several times. You get taken up river in a bus and then can spend the whole day canoeing back, stopping for swims and picnics. The nearby village of Le Bugue has more shops and supermarkets (10 min drive). We also saw some caves and visited the beautiful town of Sarlat. We enjoed going to L'Ancre de Salut cafe on the riverside for a drink or ice cream in the evening. The sun shone for 2 weeks which helped to make it one of our best holidays ever.
We've just returned from a weeks holiday at this lovely gite with our 1 year old baby. It was the perfect place to take our son, and Karen had thought of all the little extras that make the difference. One advantage for us was that the cot Karen gave us was a proper cot and not a travel cot which meant that our baby slept better. The gite is clean, new and very comfortably furnished. The gardens are beautiful and the pool is totally private - we felt spoilt having it to ourselves. We used the bbq every night and it was lovely to be able to sit outside listening the birds singing enjoying a glass of wine. Karen and Peter are lovely people too and it was a pleasure to meet them. Highly recommended.
Limeuil village with its two bridges at the confluence of the Vezere and Dordogne has rightly deserved the label 'one of the best villages in France' The village is in two parts - Limeuil Port and Limeuil Haut ( high part of the village). In past years the rivers were a vital link for commercial activity connecting many villages en route to Bordeaux. A printed guide to the village is available and well worth a morning or afternoon stroll following the points of interest and the detailed local history. Today the rivers are used for canoeing, kayaking and swimmimg. The water is unpolluted and very refreshing. There are four restaurants in Limeuil each with varied menus. The bar/restaurant L'Ancre de Salut is perfectly positioned to watch river and village activities. At the top of the village one can enjoy the Parc Panoramique on the site of the old castle, the views are magnificent and the gardens enjoyable. During July and August activities and workshops are held there. All in all Limeuil is a beautiful relaxing riverside village with artisans, glass blowers, markets, horse riding, canoes and beach....! Other activities : Hot air ballooning, Golf, Cycling, countryside walks and Local evening festivals in Summer.
