Located on the prime Quartermaster Inner Harbor, overlooking the Yacht Club, with the best views on the Island.
Our beachhouse, with huge deck and Greatroom layout, is perfectly suited for summer enjoyment and relaxation. There are four bedrooms (three with king/queen beds and one with bunkbeds), two baths and a rec room downstairs with a ping pong table.
An open-concept kitchen, spacious and with views from every window, allows for lots of group cooking and entertaining.
Dining table accomodates 10 for dinner. The piano in the room ensures everyone is entertained!
The massive deck is the best of the house. Watch the boats parade to and from the Quartermaster Yacht Club, as well as the Marina, all day long. Surrounded by towering 200' trees, eagles and cormorants are amazing to watch. Very private, you cannot see neighbors and have your own private beach, dock and walkway. A gas grill is provided for your use.
A state-of-the-art eight (8!) person Hot Springs Hot tub overlooks the harbor as well. Using silver-ion technology, it relies on minimum chlorine, for those with sensitivites. It features a color-lightshow option for evening fun.
The Inner Harbor is calm and full of areas to explore. Two marinas, a Kayak Center, boat launch and park are all nearby. We offer a rowboat and two stand-up paddle boards, as well as all sizes of life vests. Seals, herons, cormorants and a huge variety of crabs and clams are all there to observe and enjoy.
Vashon is rural country, but you can walk to the best General Store left in the county, Harbor Mercantile (The Burton Store), a gorgeous 10 minutes walk. The Burton Coffee Stand is across the street. The Burton Loop, with it's renowned Kayaking Center, parks and summer camp, are also a walk away. You can flag-stop Metro buses at the front gate of the house, for a ride into Vashon, the ferry, Seattle or Tacoma. If you're driving, there is room for 4 cars.
The Fourth of July Vashon Fireworks display, which rivals Seattle's, is shot from a barge anchored in the inner harbor, directly in front of our deck. Definitely the best place for the 4th.
In July and August, Blackberries rule the island, and the sweetest and fattest come from this part of the island, everywhere you look. Recipes for ice cream, preserves, pie and sauces are in the cupboard. The sweet fragrance permeates the island!
Bill and Suzanne Anderson have enjoyed every summer here with their three kids. They joke it's the easiest weight-loss there is, to come to the Island and have 10 lbs lifted off your shoulders!
Suzanne Anderson purchased this house in 1997
It's the Inner Harbor! The Yacht Club is wonderful to watch, the animal sea life is amazing, and kids can row everywhere. Our heritage trees keep our deck private, and we're a walk from Burton and its charms. And the house is the perfect height from the beach: Low enough to get to easily, but high enough for a killer view.
The only private dock allowed in the Inner Harbor because it's grandfathered in. Motorcraft under 40' can load/offload guests right at the dock. Or folks can use our rowboat. Or bring their canoes or kayaks!
On July 4th, the island comes to our doorstep. The fireworks are shot from a barge moored in front of our deck. Fire up the BBQ and jump in the hot tub, it's the best place in town.
We had a wonderful vacation in Seattle and loved staying at this rental on Vashon Island. After a fun filled day in the city it was so nice to take the ferry back to this paradise on the bay. The place is as beautiful as the photos suggest. The owners have done a great job updating the main living area and making the place so comfortable with a great hot tub, fabulous deck with a gas grill and lots of flowers and outdoor seating.
The kitchen is well equipped with most anything one might need. Suzanne the owner was very accommodating and we appreciated the special touch of fresh cut flowers, bottle of wine and fresh tomatoes from the garden.
It is an older home and there is no air conditioning but the breeze coming off the bay helped when the temps got into the high 80s.
There is a great grocery store (Thrifty) just 2 miles away that has everything you might need. Be sure to stop at the coffee shop a mile away for wonderful coffee and goodies and enjoy wine tasting at Vashon winery.
I would highly recommend this rental for anyone wanting an escape from the city and a fabulous view. It was by far one of our family vacation favorites.
This is a lovely, spacious and well designed house and we had a fun and relaxing vacation with our multi generational family. From grand parents to an infant, the eight of us enjoyed the views and thoughtful and artistic amenities of this lovely well maintained home. The row boat, paddle boards, dock and beach created a great aquatic center. We loved the views, seals, minnows, sand dollars and hot tub. We enjoyed walking the baby daily around the Burton Loop and took all the children on the forest walk there a couple of times. It's a great location to explore Vashon Island. This light filled house has great water views, comfortable furnishings, a bright and commodious kitchen (larger than it appears in the photos), huge deck, lots of seating and space plus books and games for the whole family. Thank you, Suzanne, for renting your lovely home.
My husband and I rented this charming home back in May. My kids and grandkids joined us. We had a wonderful time!! Took walks to the store in Burton, explored Vashon, and enjoyed some great meals in and out! Loved sitting on the deck eating or just watching birds and boats. My friend lives in Vashon and was there with dinner ready when we arrived!! We could not get the fireplace to work but only wanted it in pm for atmosphere. Would go back...but next time in June when we can rent a sailboat! Great hot tub.
With a daughter in West Seattle, we have stayed on Vashon many times.(our preferred spot). This Summer the family welcomed the newest grandson with celebration and festivity. I could not have picked a more perfect setting. Easy to find, easy steps to house....awed by the beauty view thru the expanse of windows...living/dining/kitchen etc.. We were made up of two couples, an 8 yr and 5yr old grands..with our daughter/husband and baby ferrying over for a few days. The boys loved the bunk room, and everyone commented on the spacious and private design of the house. We had great sunny skies, so mornings were on the deck for coffee...The life vests provided for the boys fit perfect..and they spent most hours on the beach/dock, and sweet rowboat. We did not want for anything..The house was spotless, comfy beds/linens..etc.
Cooking was fun...we each took a meal..easy to do with every pot/pan/measuring device you could need. Almost forgot the hot tub.. The relaxing soak @ the end of the day... House location on the Island was great..Vashon Hwy into town, and North and South Ferries.
Thank You Suzanne
I knew I wanted to book this house for our summer family reunion as soon as I saw it on the VRBO website; and booked it about 6 months ahead of time.
I can not say enough good things about this home on Vashon. It was everything our family wanted for our 10 day stay. The accommodations were great, the location couldn't have been better. I loved getting the morning sunrise, with the grand deck shaded by early evening.
My only wish was that we could have extended our stay even long, which we would have, but this home is so wonderful and sought after that it was continuously booked.
The PNW is my favorite spot in summer months, Vashon being one of our top choices.
I look forward to our next stay, which will be at this same house next summer.
Suzanne, Thanks for share your place with us.
I've spent hours trekking into the wonderful San Juan Islands, yet never visited Vashon Island - just a short ferry trip from West Seattle. The Beach house is just a couple miles beyond the cute town of Vashon. Our crew of 4 adults and 4 teens had plenty of space - the main floor with a wide open design + 2 bedrooms and a smaller bunk room; and a bed room and ping pong table downstairs. The kitchen is wonderful for preparing meals; since it is open to the living/tv room and near the deck - so whether BBQing the Steaks and Salmon we picked up at the Thriftway in Vashon, or prepping appetizers - everyone can be together. The kids could disappear downstairs to play cards, ping pong, or head out to the lower patio to soak in the large hot tub - or down to the beach to cruise around on the paddle boards, while the adults enjoyed a cocktail on the massive deck. One afternoon we made the short drive to Maury Island marine Park and enjoyed a hike out to and along the beach there; then drove to the nearby Point Robinson Lighthouse - for more wonderful views from the shore. We also enjoyed some great meals in the town of Vashon (fine dining at Bramble, and terrific casual food at The Hardware Store Restaurant; and wonderous and huge chocolate Cupcakes at SnapDragon Bakery (where you might enjoy lunch, a glass of beer or wine, and live music on the back patio). So if you want to get AWAY with out going FAR, check out the Waterfront Beachhouse on Vashon.

The houses is located in the protected Inner Harbor, next to the Yacht Club. The sea is calm; seals visit. Watch a parade of boats from the deck, all day during Summer. Walk to the Burton Coffee Stand in the morning and chat up the locals; the Harbor Mercantile General Store has everything you need, including decent wines! The town of Vashon is 7 minutes away by car or bus, which stops at your gate.
Activities include walking and exploring, beachcombing, kayaking (avail. 5 minutes away), shopping the eclectic stores and renowned art galleries, biking, or take the foot ferry directly into downtown Seattle for the day. Come home with your fish and veggies from Pike Market, and grill them on the deck with a chilled glass of wine. Life rarely gets better that that.
