About The Owner

We co-own our mountain cabin with 2 other couples. We were all college friends and now each have kids and our families love to stay at the cabin whenever we can.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

The cabin is located near Blowing Rock and Boone, NC and it less than a mile away from an entrance onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. We find something new to do every time we go.

What makes this cabin unique

Our guest book says it best...

We enjoyed another perfect weekend in the mountains for our 3rd Annual post-holiday/New Year Girl’s Weekend! The house is so warm and cozy and we all slept like logs! The location was perfect for us! We enjoyed a great dinner at The Best Cellar in Blowing Rock and a fun night letting loose at Twigs. And what would a girl’s weekend be without a morning at Westglow Spa! But the most important part of the trip is reconnecting with dear friends and talking until the early hours of the next morning! We know we will be back!

We discovered Blowing Rock for the first time in October of 1994, for our honeymoon. It’s one of our favorite places to re=visit and always will be. This is our first spring, and it’s wonderful, all the fresh air and new life in bloom. It’s the 3rd Annual Blue Ridge Wind Festival. What a treat! The cabins here at the Timber Ridge are the best kept secret, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at “A Bear’s Den”. We’ll be back!!

My family and I really enjoyed your cabin. It felt like home away from home. My kids were ready to move in. ? It was very quiet and relaxing. Thanks for making it such a joy to stay here. I would recommend your cabin to my friends and family. ? Thanks,

The Lewis Family, Mebane, NC

We wanted to thank you for an incredible weekend at your cabin. It was the perfect space to bring family together to celebrate my graduation from ASU! Everyone really enjoyed the rocking chairs and between this cozy place and the fresh mountain air (that I am going to miss) we got the best sleep/relaxation. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Chrissy Phelps and Lisa McGuire.

P.S. My family was from Florida and they loved it here.

Lots more...

Great location, needs some tlc

  • 3 of 5

Can't get much more convenient to downtown Blowing Rock, Boone and the BR Parkway. The view is nice too.

It appears that the cleaning crew has been doing the bare minimum for quite a while. Don't look behind or underneath anything.

It is also time to retire the living room couch. Found some interesting stuff when I lost my keys and had to look under the cushions. The mattress in the master bedroom is on its last leg as well.

This place is a decent value for the money but a few small upgrades would go a long way.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comments! We take pride in making our cabin a cozy place to stay and a great vacation experience for our guests. The cleaning issues you mention are not acceptable and we have taken immediate action to respond. We personally booked the cabin for three days to inspect these items and did a thorough deep cleaning. After reviewing your comments with the property manager, we've also made a change in our cleaning service and are making additional upgrades. Thank you again for bringing these issues to our attention.

Beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We 7 ladies had a wonderful time. The cabin is situated at the top of the hill, so the view off the porch is great. Be prepared for the steep driveway though! The house was clean and well managed. It is very close to town. Blowing Rock has many wonderful shops. I hear there are many great restaurants too. However, after eating at the Blowing Rock Ale House, we just kept returning. Yum!

Cool Breezes

  • 4 of 5

My family of six enjoyed our stay at A Bears Den. The cabin was spacious and very clean and mountain breezes kept us cool and refreshed. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and abundant towels in the bathrooms. The location between Boone an Blowing Rock was perfect for us.

A Great Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at a Bear's Den in Blowing Rock. We had a wonderful time hiking around the cabin and just hanging out there. The cabin is so comfortable and cozy with the gas log fireplace. We used the logs the first night because it was so cold and the wind was howling outside. The power even went out during the night but the king sized bed slept so good we didn't even know the power was out. (It did eventually come back on!!). The cabin is is so quaint and cozy that the pictures do not do it justice. We had so much room to spread out and the kitchen was well stocked. There is a charcoal grill but we didn't use it because it was too cold. We rambled and did some exploring around the area. We went to the Mast General Store in Boone and bought enough candy to last all year!!! Love that place!!! Last but not least was my dealings with the owner, Chad. He was so very helpful and efficient. Every time I had a question and called him, he got back with me in a timely manner. He made it easy from check in to check out. We would definitely stay at a Bear's Den Cabin again!!!

Location is nice, North end of Blowing Rock not too far from Boone. This cabin is in a small development of cabins exactly like it, second from the last at the top. The house needs a deep cleaning - lots of dust (not good for allergy sufferers) and a new couch. Has a washer and dryer, after I asked for - plenty of towels, but was given 2 bottom sheets for the rollout bed and realized that one of the twins was made without a top sheet. Suited the 7 of us fine. Owner is super nice, responsive, and accommodating.
