About Audrey Sabet

I am French, originally from Marseilles and my husband Ian is Scottish, from St Andrews. I have spent all of my childhood on the French Riviera because my grandmother used to have a house near Monaco on the waterfront. I have always liked the French Riviera very much because it has this very unique characteristic of offering beautiful and preserved areas close to historical sites and busy lively places. I am a nature lover and I spend all of my spare time hiking with my dog Beauty or sailing with Ian and we are both trying to share our passion with our 2 children William and Skye.

We had to move away from Vence in 2015 because of Ian's work and we are now living in Montenegro that we all like a lot. We are returning to France a few times a year to visit family and friends.

Our close friend Cristina is looking after our villa in Vence since. She does a wonderful job of keeping the villa pristine and cosy for the guests. Our goal is to offer to renters a special experience of the French Riviera in a villa they can call 'home'.

Audrey Sabet purchased this villa in 2005

Why Audrey Sabet chose Vence

When I first visited Villa 'Chants d'Oiseaux', I was pregnant with William, we were in Spring. I arrived at the door step and saw the beautiful garden through the the main window. I then walked on to the patio where you can see the medieval village of Vence. It seemed like if you could touch the picturesque stone houses from there. Although the interior of the villa didn't look at all what it looks like now, I loved the arched openings, the traditional layout of old provencal buildings and the charm of the place in general. My husband was at sea at the time and I didn't wait for him to come back. When he arrived ashore one month later, we had already close the deal with the real estate agent. I was lucky, he loved the place instantly.

The renovation works took us 5 years and were completed in 2010.

What makes this villa unique

- Walking distance from downtown Vence

- Heated swimming pool with automatic hard cover

- Offers different privacy areas (patio, terraces, independent studio, master bedroom on the first floor)

- Close to the sea but not on the coast. Vence is relatively quiet even during the high season

- Half way in between Nice and Cannes

- Close to points of interest: museums (in town), restaurants and shops (in town), big shopping center (10 mn drive), motorway (15 mn drive), airport (20 mn drive), train station (15 mn drive), beaches (20 mn drive), hiking trails (from the house)

- Family house

Christmas & New Year in Vence

  • 4 of 5

The villa was the ideal base for a family group of ten Australians to celebrate Christmas 2017 and New Year 2018 together in Vence, France.

Grandparents, two daughters & son in laws and four grandchildren all enjoyed the amenity of the property which capably catered for the ten of us.

The large kitchen and dining room was an asset. The reading room was well used as were the grounds and outdoor table tennis table.

Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable, but the bungalow smelt damp & musty.

Laundry for ten was a struggle, which we overcame with some initiative.

The walk into Vence was achievable, with the last hilly bit slowing down the grandparents.

Overall, we are happy to recommend the Villa as an excellent property to stay at.

John & Wendy Ferris.

Owner's Response: Dear John and Wendy, it was a pleasure to have you stay at our villa and to meet you and your lovely family. In answer to your mentioning about the laundry, it was a conscious decision that we made not to have a tumble dryer at the house. Being an environmentalist myself and teaching sustainability, I am trying to limit my impact on the environment as much as I can. That's why, amongst other things in the house, we have a heating pump as central heating which also heats up the swimming pool, 3 different trash containers to enable our guests to do recycling and no sprinklers outside for the grass to limit unnecessary water consumption. Unfortunately, tumble dryers are not eco-friendly at all and the villa being in the south of France having one seemed redundant. But I have being thinking about your comment and I understand that in winter you would have used one quite happily and future guests would also. I then came to the conclusion that when we replace the washing machine I will choose one that can wash and dry the laundry too if needed. Thank you also for your comment about the studio and as discussed we will put a ventilation system in the bathroom for this season coming to allow more air in and avoid humidity that can be unpleasant in winter. Hope you will keep nice memories of France anyway. Wishing you all the best.

Wonderful family get together.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely villa situated within an easy stroll to Vence, our group ranged in age from 3 to 60 and everyone managed the walk with ease. We ventured in everyday either for breakfast or supper, a fantastic village. The pool was a star attraction, a little more shade needed at some times of the day and a few more sunbeds would have made it perfect.

The bedrooms were all comfortable and the numerous bathrooms a real bonus. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Audrey but my daughter said she was absolutely lovely and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. All the family agreed it was a great find!

Great holiday location and lovely house

  • 5 of 5

The house is roomy and the outdoor space is fantastic. The pool was great and very clean. We loved staying there and would happily return. However, be aware if you have a large vehicle (ours was suitable for 9) as the road up to the house is narrow and quite steep. Christina was very helpful and had supplied basic groceries for our late arrival. Our family felt very at home here and we all had a great holiday. Thank you Audrey & Christina.

une semaine à Vence

  • 5 of 5

Incredible house in Vence

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 weeks in this beautiful property. Owner and caretakers were amazing. Warm and attentive and friendly. We could walk to the midieval village a short walk away to the markets, restaurants and activities. Quite comfortable, especially for families, lots of room. Would certainly recommend it for a memorable visit to this beautiful part of France.

Lovely villa, nice and quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely villa, with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday.

We were a group of 7 (5 adults and 2 children), villa had plenty of room for us all. Pool was particularly nice and our girls would have been quite happy spending the whole week just swimming!

Only 15 min car journey to St Paul De Vence, well worth of trip and 40 mins to Antibes. Vence itself is a 10 minute walk away, is a very steep walk so may not be achievable for everyone, however there is a bus stop just outside the Villa going into town. Vence has plenty of restaurants and a very nice old town.

Christina was very helpful on arrival, and thank you Audrey for all your help during the booking process and providing us the great villa for the week.

Owner's Response: Thank you Jason for your nice review. I am glad to read that both Vence and the villa still do their magic on guests! It is now 7 years we are renting the house, almost 12 years we own it and going back in time, remembering ours, friends and other families happy memories, I think it was all worth it. With a big thank you to Cristina, who looks after the house better than I would, Mark our neighbour, who treats our garden and the pool like if it was his and guests like you, whose enthusiasm and 'joie de vivre' give to the villa its very special holiday atmosphere. Hoping to see you again in Vence sometimes. All the best to you and family.
