50th Wedding Celebration with family
We recently spent two fabulous weeks at this Hideaway Retreat property. Property description says it all! At one point we had a total of twelve enjoying the residence. It has plenty of space for everyone with spacious bedrooms and more than adequate bathrooms. Temps were in mid to high 80's with only a brief shower on the mainland one PM. Property has two large outside decks; one on second level. From these areas we enjoyed refreshments while watching the sunsets. Plenty of tables and chairs provided. We could enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife while preparing meals in the kitchen or on the deck. Grandkids played in screened in porch after enjoying the water. Also had our Easter meal together on the porch while enjoying the great weather. Beach is only steps away with only a few people accessing it as they search for shells or sharks teeth. Friendly neighbors also stop to share their tips. During our visit we had the requisite visits by Henry the heron, along with a bald eagle, snowy egrets, pelicans, cormorants, etc. We had a glorious time with our family since we do not have the opportunity to vacation with everyone at the same time. Also we found many sharks teeth right on the property. One Englewood resident shared with us the fact that he had found a 3 1/2 tooth (Megladon) right down the beach a year or so ago. During our stay we also traveled to Busch Gardens. Venice, Boca Grande, and Nokomis Groves for their famous ice cream. All in all, everyone enjoyed our stay on Manasota Key, a classic example of "old" Florida. Limited beach access, canopied covered roadway, no commercial properties, except for two small "grandfathered" resorts a mile away. Thanks to the Mackes family for sharing their residence along with their welcoming gift and to Col. "Mac" Mac Farland for his attention to the property.
Spectacular view from the inside out. Needs a lot of TLC
The house view is spectacular, a little far from anything. Our big disappointment was the status of the property.
There are a lot of commodities but disorganized. A lot of tv and cable boxes, but some controls are not operative or without batteries. Some DVD players don’t work. WiFi is very bad, just available in one part of the house and no cell coverage at all.
On the other hand, some towels have holes and honestly needs change. No towel paper for replenish. No sponge to wash the dishes. And the house seems not having a deep cleaning in long time. Pillows are yellow of too much use, second floor window almost flew away since is rotten and doesn’t close.
We sent an email to the owner but just received a visit 2 days after to fix the window. They are very unresponsive. No phone, no emails and no txt. They gave us the wrong lock box number. We could fix it but it was a miracle because the phone service is BAD.
The best of the house is the view and the space for 2 families . 11 people
Myrna, thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the view, but are sorry to hear about the aspects of your stay that fell short of expectations. We greatly appreciate your feedback and have passed it along to the homeowner so any necessary changes can be made. Thanks for giving us the means to create a great experience for our future guests. Best, The Evolve Team
We recently stayed at this home and had an amazing time!! The beach was so private! It was like being on a cul-de-sac because there are rocks that jut out into the gulf just two houses down so few people are even walking by during the day. There were sharks teeth everywhere and we found some great shells too. All of the bedrooms were beautiful with their own attached bath and the living areas were perfect for relaxing. There's a private upstairs deck we used for sunning and a large downstairs deck as well. The grill was great! We used it twice. This is a dog friendly beach so we saw lots of canine friends on our evening walks to watch the sunsets. It's only 15 minutes to Walmart and Publix so we didn't have to pack all our food for the whole week. We caught 30 mullet in the intercoastal at Blind Pass and had a great fish fry! There are some rocks in the water in front of the house next door and the kids enjoyed snorkeling around them. The gulf was calm and perfect for paddle boarding on some days but also kicked up some waves for fun on other days. We hope to return!!
This was our first visit to the USA and we are so glad to have found this fantastic beach house. It was more than large enough for the five of us and very well equipped for any cooking/ baking/cocktail making possibility! We were visited by Henry a few times, but he was quickly ousted by Charlie Chopsticks and Marty Pellow who were constant hot dog munchers! We absolutely loved being on the beach collecting shark teeth. We had a close encounter when having our first dip in the sea with a turtle, which was amazing, and saw dolphins almost every day.The weather did not disappoint and the night time lightning displays were incredible, the only thing we were disappointed with was that we hadn't booked for two weeks! A big thank you to Mac for keeping our son's blankies safe until we could collect them. We will most definitely be returning as this was the best holiday....EVER! Thank You :)
Thank you we are of course glad you had a wonderful time. We try very hard to under promise and over perform and look forward to your return. It is nice to have guests that know how to have a good time.
This home has the potential to be amazing. The location of the home is second to none. The size of the home is awesome. The beach is amazing. We walked up and down the beach daily. The view is breathtaking. Dolphins and rays so fun to watch. There are so many wonderful things about the home. I wish the review could be better, but it can't.
When we arrived the home was absolutely filthy. Dozens of cockroach like bugs in the kitchen cupboards, laundry room, and the bedroom closet. Grime, dust, and dirt prevailed. So many things in the home were broken such as lights, fans, the oven, toaster oven, screen doors, and windows. The kitchen pantry, cupboards, and drawers were in complete disarray and unusable. Upon our return home, we contacted the owner about these issues and he said it was his home and he could keep it anyway he chose to. I was devastated. I could go on and on about the issues, but I will sum it up with this. I would not recommend this home until it has a complete cleaning and repair overhaul. You will be as devastated as we were. How sad we had to clean, fix, and "deal with" so many issues on our vacation. If it is completely and totally professionally cleaned, all repairs professionally done, I would then recommend this home.
Good Evening Janet I was surprised to hear from you after six months had passed from your stay in our home. I have 23 pages of correspondence between us with detailed answers to all of your complaints with our home some of which were valid and would have been taken care of promptly had you notified us. Instead you waited until after you had vacated and then told us that a Two Thousand Dollars refund was justified. We have a caretaker Mac and you bought some things to his attention, but your Husband Paul who is the leaseholder told him it was ok not to worry about it. In all our correspondence I have always supplied you with my phone number, never once have you called during your stay. In the above statements you distorted what I told you in writing, which was that the pantry is ours and we would keep our things in it. As you know there is a separate large pantry cabinet next to the refrigerator for your use. We have a pest control company under contract that sprays the property 4 times a year. We have housekeepers that would gladly have gone back to take care of any problems had just let me know. I am sorry you had any problems and we did refund you $1250.00. All items have been replaced or repaired.
13 of us. We had a great time. the beach was great only saw a 2 or 3 people on the beach every day. We all are shark teeth hunters found allot. The house was great we didnt want to leave. best vacation ever!!!!
