Quiet ambiance with birds, deer in the orchards, and wineries to walk to. My grandchildren love to feed the goats nearby, play volleyball at the park, eat ice-cream at the Cafe Museum, while mom and dad relax with a cappuccino. Playground and soccer field, and Marina very close for boating and mooring. Beaches are sectioned off with buoys for children to swim, and raft. Ski, hike, or bike in the pine tree area along the lake trails or the windy roads, Swim, fish, water ski, or kayak in the crystal clear water. It is beautifully calm most of the summer. GRAY MONK ESTATE WINERY
Meet the Chef:
A native to the farmlands of southwest Saskatchewan. He spent much of his childhood on the family farm, where he experienced the difference between the food grown on the farm and that bought in town at the local supermarket or butcher. After graduating from high school Wade took his professional cooking training at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and completed his Red Seal Certification. Following several years under Chef Restituto Mendoza at Heritage Pointe Golf & C.C. he went on to work at the Coast Plaza Hotel and the Calgary Winter Club. Then it was out to Vancouver for Monk Mc Queen’s, Shaughnessy Golf & C.C. and the University Golf Course.
“I am thrilled to see the revitalization of small farms and variety of fresh, healthy, flavorful products that can be locally purchased.” You will find this evident as you experience the fresh smells and flavours when you visit the Grapevine Restaurant. The attention to detail and the pride in knowing we have given you a truly memorable time is our constant goal. With the stunning views, unparalleled wines from Gray Monk and culinary creations inspired by all the best the Okanagan Valley has to offer you will see firsthand why so many people are enamored with this land we call home.
ARROWLEAF WINERY
One of our favourites this distinctive winery and patio aperitifs, has picnic tables where you can enjoy the view, relax with friends and sip your favourite wines with the whole family.
We love the Okanagan Lake so much that we purchased this property with a guest country cottage on the property. This area reminds us of the Italian coastline and enjoys many fruit trees, wineries, lakes, and amusements nearby. Kelowna area is one of the most sought after travel destinations in the world for golfing and wine tours and winter skiing.
We moved here and designed the gardens with herbs like orange mint, sage, fennel, dill, parsley, and tomatoes. We also love to grow flowers so the property has a fruit salad apple tree (4 kinds), blueberry bushes, redbud, roses, and lavender and fragrant lilies. The Casablanca is my favourite.
This area is historic and adjacent to the property is an 800 year old fir tree which is antique and a heritage specimen. the neighbourhood has been around for 100 years and has a museum in the 'old school', cafe and old fruit packing building that is active cleaning and packing fruit. The paddle boats used to travel the Okanagan Lake with fruit from all the neighbouring towns and clean and pack and send out by railway before the Highway 97 was built.
For history buffs there is the book written on the beginnings of Carr's Landing and this area.
The city of Winfield celebrates each weekend in the summer music concerts in the parks in the area.
There is so much for kids to do at the Kangaroo Park, skate park, water park, farmers markets, Davidson Orchard and petting zoo, Oyama Zipline, and miniature golf, bumper cars, and race track and batting cages.
Golf is amazing here from Tower Ranch, Predator Ridge, The Quail, The Rise, to Kelowna Springs just to name a few top notch challenges.
Swim, bike, walk the lake paths under the sweet smell of pine.
Rent a boat at Turtle Bay and explore Wood Lake and Kalmalka Lake, water ski, or park and have a beer at the pub near Vernon.
For bird watchers and animal lovers there are quail, owls
Caron Smed purchased this cottage in 2007
SUMMER and WINTER FUN
HISTORICAL AREA
There is an antique Fir tree (800 years old) behind our property, a museum which is a historical site where the orchards were planted 130 years ago.
We have a quiet neighborhood where you will be able to get a good nights sleep and off to the wineries. Visit the many wineries as close as a walk up the hill to Gray Monk and Arrowleaf. Sun bathing, clean refreshing water, walks along the 20 mile waterfront or bike challenges on the windy hills are all here for you to enjoy.
FRESH ORGANIC PRODUCE in Winfield on Fridays and in Kelowna on Wed and Saturday mornings.
This property is in a historic area from the early century.
There is a very special neighborhood and it is friendly. the beach is so delightful to sit and read by, go for a dip, or boat in. There are many places to explore right here.
We are still enjoying bike trails in the kettle valley where you ride on the train tressels with panoramic views below and the lakes from a distance.
We ski in the winter at Silver Star and it is spectacular. Cross country, snowshoe, and cliff climbing.
Food here is wonderful and tasty.

My husband and I grew up in Calgary, AB and we never experienced country living. We did not know what we were missing.

Arrowleaf judged the number two winery in Canada at The Nationals.
posted Dec. 2015
The WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada is this country's most comprehensive and reputable wine competition. Highly respected judges blind-tasted 1408 wines from 205 wineries and awarded platinum, gold, silver and bronze medals. Based on each winery's performance, they compiled a list of this year's top 25 wineries in Canada. We are thrilled to have won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, making us the number two winery in Canada! We have made it into the top 25 before, but being so close to the top is an achievement we are very proud of. Congratulations to the winery of the year, Mission Hill Family Estate, and to everyone who made the top 25.
Golfing is Fantastic and we are close to many and yet in the country where you can enjoy a swim after a hot day golfing. Wine Touring or visiting sights is always more enjoyable knowing you can cool off at the beach for a quick swim.
Being close to the water.
The water here is cleaner, larger, warmer climate and longer
growing season. Tall pine trees scent the trails and there height and stature are beautiful.
Everything grows here in this wonderful climate.
Boating is spacious and good for fishing.
Quaint, quiet, therapeutic, warm sunny days, beautiful countryside.
Night stars, no street lights, and visits around the campfire, setting a table with Casablanca Lilies from my garden, roses, lavender, lilac.
Walking to the museum and cafe for a cup of coffee. Experience the pioneers from the past at the museum and park as you pass a 800 year old tree in our back alley.
Local produce, artisans, artists with products unique to this area.
Walks in all seasons along the waterfront
Friendly neighbours
Thank you so much for your hospitality. It was really special that we could bring our two girls (Keltie and Chloe) with us. Quick access to public beach and such a short drive to Gray Monk and Arrowleaf wineries.
My dad and I stayed here for 5 days, we found it to be very relaxing and cozy. We enjoyed using the patio and sitting to read or relax outside.
We met Caron and John who were very nice people.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at John and Caron's cabin this year. It's our second time (our first was in 2014) being in Lake Country. The cabin, though snug, provided everything that we needed. Some of my favourite moments this yea werer: enjoying the lovely peonies in Caron's garden, reading a book and eating lunch al fresco on the deck, seeing the magpies swooping about at the nearby winery (Gray Monk), and browsing the Kelowna Farmers Market, where I scored some alpaca leg warmers!! This was a decidedly "chill" vacation and it's exactly what I needed.
The cottage was very comfortable and clean. I loved listening to the birds & crickets. I was able to visit some of my favourite wineries in the area.
Caron & John were very warm & welcoming. I wish I could have stayed a few more days!

This is truly a retreat! We had just finished the Penticton Granfondo Cycle and we were looking for a quiet space with a comfortable bed. We got both!
The cottage is so sweet, reminding me of Aix En Provence with the colours and comfort inside. It is a smaller space but has everything you need! Plus a wonderful little veranda and private patio surrounded by fresh herbs, lillies, and other gardens! The walk to the beach is about 4 minutes and the water is clear and beautiful!
My wife, son and I stayed in Carons cabin and it was great. It was clean upon arrival and had everything we needed. It's in a nice, quiet location, 1 block from the lake and just down the road from several wineries. This is a great spot for a small family or couple who is looking for a quiet area. We will definitely be back. Thanks
