Park the car and forget about your worries. Only two blocks from Main St. You can wake up and walk to town for a hot cup of coffee and return to a grand fireplace, WiFi and songbirds singing outside your window.

An easy stroll to shopping, a day at the Old Edwards spa, ice cream shops, great restaurants, and countless outdoor adventures. Or take a few steps to Harris Lake, where you can feed the ducks and geese (who amazingly ALWAYS seem hungry), or do a little fishing.

The house has an open layout with a bedroom and bath nicely separated on either side of the house, a garage for the car you won't need, and a covered porch for relaxing and enjoying the cool mountain air.

The BEST spot in Highlands

We really enjoyed our stay at 645 Smallwood last week. We have stayed at 40 Harris, the Buntings other property in this part of town, several times. Both are walkable to everything in Downtown Highlands as well as Harris Lake. Since we had a larger group this time--13 in all, ranging in age from 1 to 70--we rented both homes.

Charming Cabin, Perfect Location!

We rented this Cabin for a Friends Wedding - the home itself is lovely, perfect for our needs. It is a quick walk into town and to the shops and restaurants. I would absolutely recommend for any couple or family!

Great house, close to town, clean, perfect for our group

We stayed at this home in October for our Fall Break. It was perfect! Close to town, clean, and great layout. The owners were very responsive when I had questions, and provided everything we'd need to navigate the area. Thank you!

Feel like a local!

We have rented often from VRBO/Homeaway and have had mostly good experiences. This was one of the best! The house is even better than described in the listing. Everything was very clean and ready for our arrival. If you want to stay in Highlands and feel like a local, this house is perfect. Located on a quiet street just a block off of Main Street, it is ideal for folks who want to walk a couple of blocks for meals, shopping, and enjoying downtown Highlands. Parking can sometimes be tough on Main Street, so it was great to be able to walk to Mtn Fresh Grocery, Ugly Dog Pub, Buck's Coffee, and everywhere else. The beds were comfortable, with nice linens and pillows, and all of the furnishings were clean and comfortable. The large HDTV worked great, as did the Netflix connection on the DVD player. The listing says the house sleeps 6, but we did not check to see if the sofa was a foldout sleeper sofa. There is a nice huge fireplace, but you will need to buy firewood, or bring your own. The owners were quickly responsive to my text when we checked out on Sunday. We will definitely want to stay here again on our next visit to Highlands, and will recommend it to our friends.
