Our cottage offers a living room-kitchen with fireplace, a large window overlooking the lake, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a 40 foot dock. There is a full kitchen with stove, microwave and regular sized refrigerator. Each bedroom has a double bed. Attached to the cottage is a laundry room with a washer and dryer. There is a large sunny deck and a 3 season porch. It's a peaceful setting to watch the wild life, read a book or just relax.
Over the past years our family has looked forward to the time that we can enjoy being together to swim, relax, enjoy, eat and sleep in the refreshing air at our cottage on the lake. We invite you to enjoy all the activities offered at the lake. Our friends have found some of their most enjoyable moments were viewing the lower lake and the beautiful sunsets from the large window in the living room, the enclosed porch or on the lawn outside.
Our cottage is located on Route 374 approximately 1/2 hour from Malone or Plattsburgh. It's an easy drive to Chateaugay for groceries, churches, medical services and stores. Malone has a 36 hole public Country Club which is listed as one of the top Golf Courses in NY State. Within an hour's drive you can visit Plattsburgh to shop or catch a movie or have a meal in one of the many restaurants. There are many other interesting Adirondack sites like Ausable Chasm, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain. Also of interest are the Casino at Akwesasne and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Montreal is about a two hour drive.
The shallow sandy beach is wonderful for young children but the lake grows deep enough so that a power boat can be tied up at the end of the dock. The lake is known for great fishing and boat rentals are available from the local marina. It's easy to launch canoes or kayaks on property and there is a boat launch just a couple miles away.
We had a wonderful stay at Dupree's cottage. It was cozy and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the way the living space opened onto the enclosed porch and the open view of the lake. With no internet and lots of books, magazines, puzzles, and family appropriate videos it was a great escape from modern life.
This quaint cottage was more that we expected - well equipped, clean, nice sandy area for the kids to swim, & gorgeous sunsets. We had a wonderful week and hope to be back soon.
Great cottage, very friendly owners. If you are looking for a relaxing stay by the lake, this is the place.
First time stay and will definitely be back.
Our family absolutely loved this cozy cottage!!!A perfect Vacation for all. Everything we needed and could ask for. Would definately rent again! Lovely! The owner was kind a warm.
I spent a week at this delightful cottage with friends (ages 2-60). We spent our days enjoying the serenity (peace and quiet at last!) and beauty on the lakeside Adirondak chairs and swimming in the lake. Once the kids arrived the noise level went up a bit but they were enchanted by the cottage ("like a storybook house") and thoroughly enjoyed swimming, boating, floating on the lake. The numerous ducks, loons, geese and gulls kept us entertained. And the sunsets, oh the sunsets are just breathtaking! The cottage is comfortable, homey, clean and had all the basics we needed. It was just as pictured and described. The owners couldn't be nicer. I highly recommend this rental and plan on going back next year.
