About the property

a two bedroom apartment, spacious and luminous, high tech kitchen, small terrace

The apartment is 850 sq feet, has large windows on 4 sides, a small terrace with table & and a wooden platform with breathaking view of the whole city up on the roof.

There are only 22 steps up and no bridges to climb with your luggage coming from the ACTV waterbus station (called 'Fondamente Nuove) if you come from Venice train station SANTA LUCIA and from the Bus Station (Piazzale Roma).

There's one bridge to climb if you use Alilaguna services from MARCO POLO airport or from the MARITIME STATION to FONDAMENTE NUOVE.

High tech kitchen, very comfortable bathroom with large brand new shower box, air con and heating in every room.

St Mark Square can be reached in 12 minutes through a wonderful 'walk in history' including Campo San Giovanni e Paolo and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, rwo of the most beautiful squares in Venice. In 20 minutes across Cannaregio district you can reach the old Jewish Ghetto anf its five jewel like synagogues.

About roberta curiel

I am a Venetian born, 54, work as a professional tour guide showing monuments and museums to visitors from USA, Spain, Brazil and more. I wrote a book about the old Jewish Ghetto of Venice. I live by the Rialto food market and spend at least two months in Tunisia. I love reading, traveling (all over the world), cooking, wine tasting. I have a degree in foreign languages and I speak English, French, Spanish, Portuguese. My husband Fernando is half Spanish/half Roman, and also works as a tour guide

roberta curiel purchased this apartment in 1982

Why roberta curiel chose Venice city center

The location is great ! When my parents bought it they were so happy. There's a nice view on the Campiello, very luminous windows, tall ceilings. The small terrace allows you to sit outside, enjoy the flowers, the rooftop 'altana' is really wonderful (lots of steps to climb !). You can enjoy the real life of Venice but at the same time you're close to all the famous sites.

What makes this apartment unique

The sunny rooms, the location on a 'campiello' (a small square) with a cosy garden and no neighbours watching into your home.

Very close to waterbus station 'Fondamente Nove', so you won't need to drag your luggage for long !

Loved our stay at this charming, spacious and well-kept apartment

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Roberta's flat for 3 nights, toward the end of Carnival, with our 2 elementary-aged daughters. The apartment is lovely and well-appointed--we had absolutely everything we needed, from the kitchen to the bedrooms. We received a warm welcome from Nicoletta, despite the fact that we took a vaporetto in the wrong direction and she had to wait extra long for us on a cold, drizzly afternoon. We found a bottle of wine and some treats for the girls waiting for us, as well as juice and water in the fridge. The apartment itself was clean and quiet, and just the place for relaxing at the end of a long day of walking. Spacious shower with plenty of hot water. The building was very quiet--we occasionally saw neighbors out and about, hanging laundry and going about their lives. The location was also wonderful--as another reviewer said, it is tucked away in a quiet part of Cannaregio but just a few blocks from the beginning of the busy tourist area on the way to Rialto and San Marco. In the other direction, it's just a short walk to a vaporetto stop. We had a lovely dinner one night at the neighborhood trattoria, just across the way--it was too cold for outdoor seating, so we heard nothing from the restaurant up in the apartment. We hope to make it back to Venice and have the chance to stay here again!

You will be happy you found this treasure

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay in Venice. We found it much nicer not to be in the middle of the chaos and found that every place in Venice was walkable from this apartment. It was quiet, close to local restaurants and easy to access

Short walk from Fundament Nova water taxi stop.

Stay away from the crowds and live like a local

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay to get away from the hordes but stay within 10 to 15 minutes of all the major sights. Roberta, the owner, is a renowned Venetian guide, whose family lived it this apartment so it is furnished and feels like a home. Only one full flight of stairs to drag your luggage up and Francesca, our greeter, did most of the heavy lifting😊򒠮 It is 5 minutes from the Fondamente Nuove vaparetto stop, and two excellent restaurants are basically just outside your door, La Colonna and Osteria alla Frasca.

I highly recommend this rental. Roberta is a gem. If you get a chance to meet her, definitely do it.

Wonderful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 3 days in Roberta's apartment. It's so conveniently located near a vaporetto station. We could easily zip around the island with our unlimited passes. Francesca picked us up from the vaporetto station and gave us a great welcome to the city full of tips and tricks and ways to be Venetian. The we had 4 adults in the apartment and it was plenty of space for all of us. There is a fully stocked kitchen with pots and pans and cooking basics (salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar) allowing us to cook breakfast in the morning (As an american, after 2 weeks of pastries for breakfast we were all really craving a savory start to our day). The best were some of the most comfortable we had on our stay. The trattoria downstairs was too loud for half our party and didn't bother the other half. They are only open until about 11 and it's very quiet after that.

Would definitely do this again for a longer trip!

Wonderful flat!

  • 5 of 5

My family (my husband and I, our two daughters, and my mother) enjoyed staying in Roberta's flat. It had comfortable sleeping accommodations for all five of us; was nicely furnished and very clean; was well-stocked with all the supplies we could have possibly needed (and she had nicely left some extra goodies for us when we arrived!); and--importantly in Venice in late June--it had air conditioning! Roberta's friend Nicoletta met us and helped us settle in; she was very helpful and even recommended some restaurants for us to try (although, as she said, since Venice is a maze it can be difficult to find where you want to go, even with a map, which they had nicely provided! Guide books also are at the flat). Roberta came the next morning to fix the wifi, and she too was exceptionally friendly. The flat has abundant natural sunlight and is a wonderful refuge from the crowds; it's located in a lovely little spot, not too far from all the tourist attractions. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Venice!

A welcoming home in Venice

  • 5 of 5

Although I was worried about finding the apartment from our cruise ship dock, Roberta made sure we had all the information we needed and sent someone to meet us - it all went so smoothly! The place was well equipped for our family of 5 and felt welcoming from the moment we arrived - from the cosy quilts on the beds, to the wine and snacks on the table. There were lots of guidebooks and maps available (in multiple languages!). And, we made good use of the washing machine - and the umbrellas. ;) The apartment is located near to everything and we felt like real Venetians walking (or boating) our way to everything. A big bonus (given the rain on our visit) was the excellent restaurant literally outside the front door. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in Venice.

The apartment is located in Cannaregio, near the famous Churches of Miracoli and San Giovanni e Paolo, in an area where you can find good restaurants and trattorias (I recommend ' Trattoria Alla Frasca', 'Osteria di Santa Marina', 'Pizzeria da Alvise'. From the very near Fondamente Nuove waterbus station you can easily reach Murano (10 minutes navigation), Burano (40 minutes), Torcello, the Lido beach (20 munutes)

You can walk to Rialto bridge in 5 minutes and to St Mark's Square in 10 minutes. You find groceries shops, bakeries, pastry shops (I recommend 'Didovich' in Santa Marina square), and two supermarkets (one near Campo Santi Apostoli, one in Santa Marina)
