All of the bedrooms are nicely furnished and have plenty of closet and drawer space. The master bedroom (225 sq. ft.) on the first floor has 1 queen bed. The other three bedrooms are upstairs. The Moose Room (140 sq. ft.) has 2 twin beds. The Tommy room (110 sq. ft.) has 1 queen bed. The Bussey Room (260 sq. ft.) has 4 twin beds plus the closet – an exceptionally large closet. We have always kept padded mats on the floor in the closet. It is quite common for young folks to take their pillows, blankets or sleeping bags and “camp out” in the closet. It’s a great place to sleep.

Twenty-six years ago the Bruen family built a large log home on two acres of wooded land with two-hundred feet of frontage on Lake Michigan. Over the years this cabin on the lake has provided the ultimate “up north” experience for our children, grand-children, great grand-children and many friends. Times and circumstances do change, though, and so it now seems appropriate to make this little bit of heaven available to other families who may also enjoy its benefits. So the cabin is now available for rent. Here are the details and the way you can contact us if you would like to reserve a week or two in Leelanau (Land of Delight) County, Michigan.
Tim Bruen purchased this cottage in 1987
We stayed with our family of three young children (and guests with two young children) and the cabin was perfect for us. So many great things to list: clean, great layout, great yard (we set up a badminton net), cool fire pit near water, perfect fires in the fireplace where we did s'mores with the kids, prefect bedroom and sleeping closet for the kids, great porch, nice hammock, plenty of room, ...oh and have to mention the little slice of heaven down the street. I mean the GREAT BIG slice of heaven down the road at the 'private beach'. That was Pure Michigan. I can't imagine any other place in the world that could deliver that. So worth the trip and stay at the cabin!
Although there were some chillier days, we enjoyed a lot of fun activities in the village of Northport and surrounding areas. We were in Northport about three years ago and it was nice to see the improvements at the beach. Fun-packed stay that included: Traverse City jaunt, Sleeping Bear Dunes, a visit to Empire, rented a pontoon on Big/Little Glen lake (went tubing...the water is the most amazing color, crystal, clean...), fresh fish from Leland baked with fishtown breadcrumbs, music in Northport, delicious pizza and cheese bread from North End, great beach in Northport for kids to swim in the water and play on the playground, visits to Tom's grocery store to cook amazing meals at the cabin. Wish we could do it all over again!
The Owner was extremely nice and kind. We happened to leave our three year old's stuffed 'BOO' at the cabin and the beloved friend was found and mailed back to us!!!
Would love to come back and recommend the cabin to all of our friends and family...but maybe we keep this one to ourselves...
Excellant accomodations, clean, great view of Lake Michigan. Beautiful sunsets. Owner readily available to answer any questions. Would highly recommend this rental to anyone
