This is our family home. As our six children have married and begun families of their own, we find ourselves traveling to see grandchildren in various corners of the world. To support this travel, we rent our home during the Christmas holidays and early summer, mid-May to mid-July.

Why Owner chose Atherton
Our street seems like it lies in a rural setting and yet we are moments from the renowned Stanford Shopping Center, restaurants, and all that Silicon Valley offers. We like the privacy and the convenience. Gardening is a favorite past-time and we include hired gardeners in the rental price.
What makes this House unique
The SF peninsula is noted for some of the best weather in the world, with mild temperatures year-round. The pool is solar-heated and we swam in 85F water by the first week of May '13. Centered close enough to SF and yet within reach of Monterrey, our guest book includes all sorts of day sightseeing trips.

Gorgeous house with a wonderful backyard for relaxing and spending time with extended family members
Stayed with extended family for a nearby graduation weekend. Wonderful home to spend time with family in.
House was dirty . Dog hair, dust and filthy windows.
Not an ideal rental. A used band -aid greeted us on the kitchen counter. Dog hair was all over the house and on every surface. Would never go back.
We regret this stay and encourage self-professed "neatniks" to not apply. We apologized that our landscape crew finished a new lawn a month late—just before arrival—hence spring window washing was delayed. We apologized when a few dog hairs were found in the kitchen, and gave the renter a three-day, free stay to help her feel better about this home. Her statement that there were hairs all over the house is a complete exaggeration. We immediately sent our maid to clean for a third time, and have since replaced her permanently with a top-of-the-line cleaning company. (Web link available on request.) This is our home, not a hotel, and we live with a dog and an occasional hair escapes the hunt. Our pictures are the way the house looks--clean and uncluttered.
Great stay in a well situated Atherton property
The owners are easy to communicate with and provide a stellar property which is located in a quiet safe neighborhood. My family had a wonderful stay. Everything worked as it should have and we didn’t find anything in need of repair. All the basic amenities were there and the house and kitchen are well equipped. It is a lovely home and it met our needs and expectations perfectly for the extended family which was visiting the area for a celebration. Honestly the only thing we wanted for was that we would have wished the pool was a few degrees warmer but we were informed after the stay that the solar heating system is not utilized in the cooler months. It was still lovely to sit out on the protected terrace.
There were a couple of stand outs that we were extremely grateful for. We particularly appreciated the privacy of the property. The kitchen is fantastic and became the daily meeting place around the farmhouse table. Being in such a secluded and safe neighborhood put all of us at ease. The landscaping is amazing and we loved the huge lot and especially the little path up the hill to the lemon trees and the elevated seating area.
Overall a very gracious host with a lovely property equated to my family being very pleased with our stay. Rentals in this area are rare so grab this one if available, you will love it.
Wonderful long term stay
Our family enjoyed a wonderful long term stay here over Summer while my husband studied at Stanford. This is a lovely home in beautiful surrounds, and we immediately felt at home.
The house is extremely comfortable with a great layout for a larger family and we enjoyed lots of time in the beautiful garden, enjoying the pool and playing games on the lawn.
The location is away from it all but a short car ride (or Uber) from Stanford and downtown Palo Alto and Menlo Park with easy access to freeways for venturing further.
Carol and Don were generous and down to earth in every dealing and clearly invested much time and thought in preparing for our stay, including providing everything we needed, details of local amenities and a list of suggested trips and activities to suit our family. (All of which we did and more!) Carol and Don were also readily available to respond to any queries during our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful home for family gathering
We stayed here during my daughters graduation and it was a wonderful quiet refuge from all the hustle and bustle of graduation activities. It enabled our extended family to be together and catch up much more easily than if we had been in separate hotel rooms. In the hot weather the pool was GREAT to have! Thank you!!
Perfect for family gathering
Our multi-generational family gathered in this embracing, warm, artistic, yet practical home over the Christmas holidays. The spacious well-furnished rooms, the cozy fireplaces, the fully equipped kitchen, provided us with a perfect setting for our family celebration. We felt as comfortable as if we were in our own home, but better! And even though it was winter, we enjoyed exploring the extensive surrounding gardens and pathways. We all agreed we would like to stay here again sometime in the summer and spend time in the beautiful pool and outdoor patios.
This home is central to the beautiful nature and incredible cultural and recreational activities of the mid-peninsula area south of San Francisco. Daily jaunts can include sightseeing in San Francisco; finding starfish at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Half Moon Bay; music concerts at Stanford University's world class Bing Auditorium or Shoreline Amphitheater; or a round of golf at one of the many beautiful courses. Take day drips with a 2-hour drive to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, 17-mile drive at Pebble Beach and the art colony of Carmel. In the heart of Silicon Valley, you can visit the San Jose Tech Museum. For children, there is the SF zoo and new Exploratorium; San Jose's Happy Hollow and the fabulous Children's Discovery Museum. Short drives to wine-tasting or white sandy beaches.
