We welcome you to our sanctuary at the Shores of Wailoloa, a truly unique setting within this beach side community. You will first notice the lush tropical landscape filled with bright colors, waterfalls, large ponds and fountains. Our unit, #338, is on the top floor and easily accessed by an elevator (or stairs). Entering the unit, the feeling is of a treehouse perspective, overlooking the gardens and with Anaehoomalu Bay visible through the trees. With vaulted ceilings and fans, and cool tile floors, there a spacious and relaxing quality in this one bedroom unit. We have decorated the interior with several batiks from our travels in Southeast Asia adding more tropical feel. The largest lanais in the Waikoloa resort complex invite you to stretch out at any time of day and plan your next move or simply to unwind.

We have created many indelible memories at our island getaway and we are happy to open our home so that you too can enjoy the magic and create your own lifetime memories during your visit. Aloha.

First Time Visit to the Big Iskand

Clean spacious, somewhat dated one bedroom condo that has all amenities included. Great quiet location, with easy access to shopping at Kings Court or the Queens Market. Easy walk to nice beach at A Bay.

Heidi was available and very accomodating. Would highly recommend this property and look forward to our next visit here.

Very Nice, Love the Lani.

We stayed at this condo for 2 weeks last month, while the condo is dated, and has a few issues. The Lani is perfect, with the most comfortable lounge chairs, we enjoyed having coffee and lounging every morning, listening to nothing but the birds. Heaven! The complex itself is very nice, it is small, quiet, and close (within walking distance) to the beach, and stores. The pool area is great, quiet, and very close to the unit, the gym is just beyond the pool, and is fully equipped. The gardners were there everyday, tending to the property, the grounds were amazing.

We looked at a few other units for rent in the complex, that are updated and outfitted /better stocked, but are more expensive per night. If budget is what you are after then this unit is perfect.

We are in love with Hawaii, our favourite vacation destination, with The Big Island and Waikiki being the favourites. In the past we have stayed at the hotels in the Waikoloa area, but with resort fees and parking fees, it is a far better deal to stay in a condo. (Especially if you are Canadian)

The Waikoloa area feels and looks very high end, very peaceful/clean. Not overly crowded like the Kona area.

The Lava Lava Beach Club a definite must! Very good happy hour!

Around the world - our visit in Big island

Big Island was fantastic, a lot of different landscapes and scenic highlights.

The condo was spacious, clean, quiet - perfect for us. Also the surroundigs were great.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Stayed in this unit for 2 weeks. While the unit is somewhat dated, it is in good condition and spacious for two people. The fans and air conditioning worked great, the shaded lanai was appreciated every day, and the king bed very comfortable. Heidi was very responsive & supportive during our stay. The location is very convenient for exploring the Kohala Coast and other parts of the island.. We recommend this unit and will be back!

Wonderful place

We stayed in this unit for two weeks. It was clean, had plenty of towels and quiet. The weather was perfect for us, we didn't need to use the AC at all and love sleeping in open air. The lanai is in the shade all day so that helped with coolness also.

We definitely will return, the management was very good.

Management Issues

While the unit was somewhat dated with a very small and poorly equipped kitchen, it was adequate for our needs and about what we had expected. Our problem was with the management of the unit. Checking in on Valentine's Day we were frustrated to find the emailed directions sent us to the wrong building, all the hand towels had been put away wet, only 3 bath towels are provided for any length stay, and we could only get sound, no picture, on the TV. I called the number provided (during the listed office hours) hoping for a quick fix. Not realizing that I was calling her cell, I had some trouble with the voice mail and soon received a call back from the very angry manager Heidi. I received a lecture that these amenities are what the owners provide and she was tired of these complaints because the owners refused to take her advice as a "Professional" Property Manager and correct the deficiencies. She offered to come by after her "Valentine's dinner" that I had interrupted. We eventually got the TV working and notified her that she did not need to come by. We decided after this to make do with whatever was provided and continue our vacation.

One afternoon we returned to the unit after being out all day to find the dead bolt unlocked and the balcony sliding glass door wide open. We called to find out who might have entered the unit. The manager said that she had tried to call to provide notice that they needed to enter for regular HVAC service and when they could not reach us, they came in anyway. If she did call to provide notice, it could have been only a few hours before on the same day. I expressed concern that this was a violation of our privacy, that service should be done between tenants, that they should not have entered without our express permission, and that the security of the unit was compromised by having the deadbolt unlocked and the exterior sliding door open after she left. She said that she was in the unit with the service technician so we should not have had any concerns. She didn't seem to get it. We were only in the unit for five nights so this certainly could have waited until after we had vacated.

Owner's Response: We have reviewed the driving information emailed to you and it shows you were given directions to the Bo Tree building, which is correct. It is not our practice to put anything away wet and we will follow up with the cleaning team. Regarding the TV, I received 3 phone calls in the course of 5-6 minutes on Valentine’s evening about 6:45 pm. (Our listed hours are 7am -7 pm) Typically we answer the call immediately unless we are unavailable. I checked my phone during the dinner and called right back. I am sorry if I reacted badly and was not polite. I did offer to come over in 20 minutes to see if we could determine the issue with TV. Within 10 minutes I received a text saying the TV was now working and thanks. On the morning of the scheduled service for the air conditioning, I called hoping to connect with the guest. When I received no answer or voicemail, I accompanied the service person for security purposes. Upon leaving we did not put down the blind as originally found. We had the service scheduled as this is the busiest season and with the unit at 98% occupancy, we want to keep maintained and running smoothly. Unfortunately, all of the local AC technicians are extremely busy right now and it can be difficult to schedule them at all. I would not normally go into unit until I have confirmation from the guest occupying unit, but much like a hotel, it is sometimes necessary to make sure everything remains in good working order.

To reach our sanctuary at The Shores turn left on Highway 11 as you exit airport. Drive 18 miles north to Waikoloa Beach Resort, its swaying palms welcome you! Turn left into the Waikoloa Beach Resort and follow Waikoloa Beach Drive through 5 stop signs. Turn right at the sign that says “The Shores” and follow the road to the gate. The gate code is 6453. After entering the gate, turn right and park next to Bo Tree Tower building immediately on your right. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and follow the walkway to Unit 338.

If you want to get some groceries, there is a store in the resort, Island Gourmet. Another choice is driving up to Waikoloa Village Market, approximately 8 miles up the hill. As you exit our complex, you can turn either direction as Waikoloa Beach Drive loops back to main entrance. You would go out to the highway and turn left at the light and then the first right at next light. It is a fun drive as you see some wild goats and various lava flows. Another nice walk is through the Hilton Waikoloa and we will often walk from the villa to the golf paths and walk around to the ocean side of the hotel. The Shores property offers privacy and intimacy. The walking score is high as the Kings Shops, featuring fine dining and unique shops, are nearby. 'A-bay' is one of the best beaches on the Big Island for water sports and if you like long walks on the beach you are bound to see sea turtles basking in the sun there.
