I love being able to jump into the water out my back door, fish off my deck, eat over the water and canoe all around this amazing lake!!

Guestbook comments from the manager

The delights of the days

Were transcended only by

The gentleness of the glowing

Which melted into the silky darkness of night

The scents and senses of our stay

Will linger in our memories long

After we have departed from your lovely floathouse

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Nice little house with great location

  • 4 of 5

Great location! Loved being able to tie the sailboat up to the house and the kids had a blast jumping off the back deck and swimming. My husband enjoyed sleeping out on the deck as we had some very hot days. Anne is a wonderful booking agent - very helpful. I would have given the house 5 stars but there are a couple things future occupants should be aware of. The "bedroom" is an extension of the living room with a curtain to separate it. A surprise but doable. The bed is a fold out futon which measured about a 3/4 double in size. Also a surprise. The owners have a lot of cutesy decorations around so be prepared to move things to make room for your own stuff. Other than that, it was a fun stay!

I know i mentioned no parking boats on the dock, I am so glad you did not get a ticket.

The best vacation ever

  • 5 of 5

I was skeptical about staying in a floating home....but i never felt one movement!! We were right on the water in Gary and Kathy's place and could sit for hours on our private back deck in the evenings gazing at mountains, water, stars and sky. What a dreamland of a vacation spot, and so inexpensive!!

Silverwood is 15 minutes away, and the beautiful, quaint town of Bayview takes you back to a forgone era of time.

We will come again, and even tho this place is little, it is well stocked and we NEVER wanted to leave!!! Thanks to Anne our rental manager and Gary and Kathy, the owners, our summer 2014 was our BEST SO FAR!!!

I had the most amazing time Kathy and Gary's lovely home in Bayview. I was there over a week and they made sure that every thing was absolutely perfect. I needed nothing but my clothes, the place is lovely super clean and the perfect size for me and my visiring guests.I have stayed in many vacation rentals and was so happy that this one had such a fresh scent and very nice linens and towels, everything was as described and I would definitely recommend it to anyone and will be staying there again! thank you Gary and Kathy for making my time so memorable!!

Cluttered, cluttered, and even more cluttered

  • 2 of 5

I debated writing a review, but I don't want others misled into paying that price for what you get. It is a small space, but I think much could be done to make your guests feel more welcome.

It sleeps 4, but has dishes for 16 people it seemed. Scale back on the plates, cups, bowls, etc... It's not like there is counter space for all the dirty dishes to accumulate, so service for 8 is more than enough.

Every nook and cranny was taken up by the owner's stuff. Too much "stuff" everywhere. We found 1 1/2 small drawers, otherwise we lived out of suitcases. Our food had to sit out everywhere because there was no space on shelves or in cupboards. Yes...I get the nautical theme...but it is WAY overdone. A few less sailboats, non-functional stools painted with sailboats, etc... I have junk drawers in my home, but this tiny space had several...purge and clean.

The 2nd "queen bed" is a love seat and each side "reclines". lying. Our daughter tried to make it work, but it would constantly sit up on her if she moved much. We found the thin mats under the queen futon (not a real bed) and that is what she slept on. State its a futon and state it is a reclining is misrepresenting what you have.

We were thankful we had a boat and could escape to the beaches. Even the chaos of Silverwood was more relaxing.

The rear screen was broken...couldn't enjoy the breezes without the bugs.

The shelf on the wall in the dining room had baskets on it, but the baskets were stuffed with clutter.

I know about living in a small space. We have lived in an RV while awaiting real estate closures. As an owner of a small living space item, it is about getting rid of what you aren't ever going to meaningfully use and storing anything out of season offsite. To find the owner's fake Christmas tree in a possible storage spot was VERY frustrating.

Get rid of the will make it easier to clean and more inviting to your guests.

Otherwise...stop renting it to people, especially at this rate/night. I do lots of vrbo renting and this is the first bad experience I had.

Owner's Response: Well as you can see from our reviews we have happy people staying with us for the most part. After this summer with cancer, we do have some work to do. Thanks for your comments, and next time you stay in a place try to be more positive or let us know right from the start if you are unhappy, AS THE CONTRACT YOU SIGNED STATES, and we will gladly help you move out! we have way more requests than we can accomodate, and booked all summer between our use and our loyal guests. The futon has NEVER had a bad review and so we are a bit confused about your standards; might wanna carry your own mattress next time:)? We are fun loving people who love our guests , so even this review can't take that away. We still disagree with a lot and if you have to debate about writing a bad review then talk to us in an email instead of doing this which seems quite severe:) We also think that giving you 3 free nites during your stay was quite generous! Next time you might try motel 6:) God bless!!

First the original listing stated 2 queen beds in one room. We arrived to find one futon and two thin floor mats. Luckily we have small children so we made it work. Second their was not enough bedding or pillows for 4 people. Many issues with this home, the slider screen was broken, the BBQ grill did not work and the home was so jammed packed with useless items you had no room for the items we brought. When I emailed the property manager she was super sweet and forwarded my email the owners who were rude and replied "it's a float house not a hotel"! Find another Float House this one is not even worth the money they are charging to rent it!

Owner's Response: Cheri, thanks for great advice, all is fixed, couch bed was not used during your stay, opening it might have helped. Unfortunately you caught me at a hard time, husband in last days of cancer treatment and he was my main fix-it man. Thx for your help, yours is our first negative review in over 10 years of renting and we love our guests.
