I passed through Santa Fe regularly as a child, as my family often drove from Texas to Colorado. As an adult living abroad, I became fascinated by the interesting mix of cultures that collided in Santa Fe, and always wanted to be a part of this community. I finally purchased this home as my US base in 2006.

Why Owner chose Downtown
I chose this home because of its convenience; most days I do not even get in my car. On Saturdays I walk to the farmers' market, which is also close to the Velvet Crown cinema. There are loads of restaurants in the neighborhood, and the De Vargas Center is only 800 steps away. Whole Foods is about the same distance, with Trader Joe's being a few steps farther. Bank of America is just down the road, and the Plaza, the action center of the town, is just a 15-min walk! It is generally quicker -- and certainly more interesting -- to walk then to drive to the Plaza!

The property was as advertised. It was cozy and comfortable. The location was good; a moderate walk or a short drive to the historic area.
It took an adjustment on my part on how to manage the temperature inside but once I realized that I could leave the windows open at night to let the cottage cool down without the insects that I am used to from where I lived, it was quite comfortable.
The only downside was that the WiFi did not work in the main bedroom
A Comfy Retreat
When we first walked through the door, we liked what we saw. As we settled in, unpacked and walked around taking it all in, we LOVED what we had found. This is truly a home away from home. So comfy and inviting with a warm and friendly décor. The shower head is fabulous! Everything you will need is provided down to a small cooler for hiking! We loved the openness of the floor plan and the size of the kitchen. Plenty of room for everyone to move around and then some. We took advantage of the crockpot one day and the patio grill another night. The location is perfect in a very quiet and safe residential neighbor. You are only minutes from everything. We found the home very clean and everything in working order. Cathy was always available to help with our needs or questions. Easy check-in instructions. Plenty of tourist literature to browse through. You can't go wrong staying here. Our only regret was that the cool weather didn't allow us to use the patio for morning coffee or an evening drink. We will definitely be back!! Cathy is a great hostess, we can't thank her enough for making our stay there wonderful!
Santa Fe is a unique community comprised of different cultures -- Native American, colonial Spanish and Mexican, as well as north American -- each of which has representation in art, music and dance throughout a calendar year. The outdoor life is great, with hiking and biking easily accessible, and winter sports on offer during the snow months.
Museums abound, and festivals of all sorts occur through the calendar year. There are scores of galleries and unique shopping opportunities all around town.
Santa Fe is also a healing community, with alternative therapies of all sorts on offer.
