Beautiful, small, lakefront cottage modestly decorated in nautical theme, overlooking private sand and stone beach with lake frontage. The spectacular sunsets sold us on this home, and we enjoy the nearby area, too. Situated amongst other weekend get-away homes, this is a fabulous spot to relax on the deck overlooking the grassy hill leading down to the beach, watch the waves rolling in, the Great Lakes ships passing by on the horizon, the sun dappling the waves in the morning and setting so dramatically in the evening.
This is also a lovely spot Ohio's beautiful Fall season. The area is filled with fall foliage, remarkably tasty wineries with farm to table restaurants, covered bridges, bike trails, and local festivals. Fall is fantastic.
Our children love going into Geneva-on-the-Lake, with its 1950's shopping strip-lined with amusement halls, putt-putt golf, waterslides, shops, and restaurants. We enjoy visiting Geneva State Park with its lodge and marina, the wineries in the area, the beautiful covered bridges and great antique shops in Ashtabula Harbor, and incredible views as you drive along the lake. An hour to Erie, Pennsylvania, and an hour to downtown Cleveland, the area remains quiet and serene, not overly built and commercialized.
After a day of exploring, we can enjoy a full meal cooked in the ample kitchen (with full-size refrigerator and gas oven, plenty of kitchenware) while the kids pop in a video or DVD in the living room with fireplace (fold-out couch for one person sleeping) with a sliding glass door leading to the deck overlooking Lake Erie. There is an enclosed porch (with outdoor furniture) and sleeper sofa, also overlooking the lake.
Updated furniture in the living room, with new Crate & Barrel arm chairs and a pull-out couch.
The master bedroom features a king-size bed and plentiful storage in the dresser. The other bedroom features a bunkbed perfect for kids, with a twin-size bed on top, and a full-size mattress below, dresser storage, and a TV with VHS. There is also an attached one-car garage which we use to store firewood, lawncare equipment. It is not available to guests.
We love swimming in the summer, and awesome views of nature in the fall. We enjoy all the amenities of the area, including great golfing nearby, full service groceries in Geneva and Ashtabula. We know we will be spending the next few years just taking in all that the area has to offer from wineries to local theatre in Ashtabula, to covered bridge and grape festivals, to glorious lake views.
We have free wireless available, and a local calls only phone. There is cable TV and plenty of dvds, videos and loads of cds from jazz to pop to classical. Beach access is shared with two other cottages with Access across a private yard and down a short breakwall. There is no access with stairs. This is a quiet, family friendly beach, great for sea glass and fossil hunting in the day and bonfires at night. You are welcome to bring your dog, if he or she is well-behaved! There is no air conditioning. we have found our ceiling fans do just fine on the lake.

Central to a variety of activities but also a perfect environment need for a healing heart.
Spectacular sunrise and sunset. Peaceful. Cozy and well located.
I was fortunate to experience spectacular weather for early October. Witnessed white caps and barely a ripple on the lake.
If you want excitement and high style, this location is not for you. But if you want a simple, relaxing experience (at least in my experience from Monday - Friday) it is perfect.
Thank you Jenny, I hope
I planned a weekend get away with my family at this cottage and it was AWESOME!!! The owner was SUPER to work with and her Property Manager Kathy (and Dan) truly treated us like family!!! Kathy and Dan were very accessible and take so much pride in the cottage and the guests!!! The cottage was clean, well decorated and the views (and sunsets) were spectacular!!!!! Such a gem on the banks of Lake Erie!!! We truly hated to leave!! We will definitely return to this Simply Amazing Cottage!!!!! Thanks again Vera, Kathy and Dan, we had a great stay!!!! Chris (Pittsburgh, PA)
Wonderful cozy cottage, stunning view of lake, quiet area
Great place to spend a relaxing weekend. Quiet area, plenty of open space for our dog to run around.
Only (very minor) drawback - there were no closets! We ended up draping clothes over the bunks in the 2nd bedroom. There was a rod in the bathroom, but we didn't bring hangers.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Will now provide a coat rack for clothes to hang! thank you!
The cottage was quite charming and in a wonderful spot....So close to many things.
We enjoyed swimming in the lake and collecting colorful rocks. The deck was wonderful for dinner and just relaxing.
We are so happy you and your children had a relaxing time! And fun!
Great beach house with a spectacular view!
I loved this sweet little Beach House. The view is as good as it looks in the pictures. I needed a weekend away and this place was perfect. I knew the weather was going to be overcast and colder over the weekend, but it didn't matter. I curled up on the couch with a good book and fire while watching the storm roll in. The house had everything I needed. It was clean and stocked with books, games, puzzles, movies. I could definitely imagine it in the summer with the large beautiful deck to enjoy the lake. The owner and manager were wonderful to deal with and encouraged me to contact them at any time with any concerns. I didn't have one issue. And I look forward to coming back when it is warmer as there are a lot of places and parks in the area. Great place!!
So glad you enjoyed our special cottage: come back soon!
My wife and I had a great time at the cottage. The view of the lake is fabulous. Waking up to sound of the waves in the morning is the only way to start your day. The cottage was very clean and centrally located for all of the local attractions. The owner was very accommodating. Great get away spot for some R & R.
This area filled with activities; especially covered bridges, wine tours, cute little 1950 amusement park; wonderful fishing and Marina at Geneva State Park and Ashtabula rivers. The cottage is one hour from Cleveland so you can also get to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Severence Hall, the Cleveland Zoo and other attractions in the city if you so desire.
