|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Cosy 1 bedroom apartment in a historic canal house in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions.
The apartment has a very nice feel with an 'authentic' style, an open, fully equipped kitchen in the living-room, a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet, a TV with international channels and of course a coffee maker. There are a double bed and a couch that can accommodate up to 3/4 people.
Everything in this apartment is in great condition!
The neighborhood is ideal located at about a 10 minutes walking distance from the busy city center with lots of restaurants and shops, The Ann Frank House, the Central Railway Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square and Westerpark and 3 nice markets on Mondays (arts and crafts-), Wednesdays (organic-) and Saturdays (farmers-).
In short, the perfect place to stay when in Amsterdam!
I'm Emmy and I'm an artist. I live and work in Amsterdam downtown.

I fell in love with Amsterdam, especially with this unique part of the center. After a lot of travelling, this place felt like home.
This first floor apartment in a historic canal house, is located in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions, shops, restaurants and bars.
Our host, Emmy, was available with with quick responses to all sorts of questions before our arrival. The apartment up one flight of stairs is well suited to a couple, and offered all that we needed. It is not large, but it is enough. A couple of minor issues were resolved very quickly. Local dining recommendations were so good that we ate at the same place 3 times in a week (The Blue Head). Grocery shopping is only a few minutes away, as are choices of bus stops. You can easily walk to Centraal station in under 15 minutes and be whisked all over the country. We visited the city for 3 days and then took trains/buses to the north, south and west on other days. It was always a pleasure to return "home" after a busy day exploring. The neighbourhood is very quaint and traditional, and was quiet and picturesque. Lots of houseboats, and a Yellow Submarine within a block! We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment and Emmy!
Our family of four stayed at Emmy's place which gave us not only clean, charming, and quality furnishing but also a neighborhood with the best of Amsterdam (for the good tourists who want to live in rhythm the Dutch-way, discover history, eat excellent food at a decent price, see the details of Amsterdam charm such as the gnome floating in the canal, the floating gardens of the boat houses, and an actual inhabited Yellow Submarine!). Emmy was a generous and thoughtful host, providing us with good advice (mapped out) on where to explore and enjoy our daily excursions, new set of towels after a couple of days (the first host ever to deliver new towels without us asking), privacy, and bikes to rent (a must-do in Amsterdam) at half the price of the town's rental agencies and without the hassle detailed paperwork, insurance, and logistics of returning the bikes 10-15 minutes away from the apartment. Our family of four (2 teenage boys) highly recommend this apartment - if you are fortunate enough to have it available for you! PS: The location of the apartment is on an island that is 15 minutes walk from the Central Station, and yet it is so quiet. We heard birds each morning and evening; and feed the wild ducks and geese from the various cross bridges; and picnic in a garden next to the apartment. Thank you, Emmy!
We so enjoyed Amsterdam and our lovely little apartment! The apartment is up a typical "Amsterdam" staircase, which is narrow, and steep, but heck! It's Amsterdam! We managed just fine. Emmy does have parking available, but really, in Amsterdam a car is a hindrance and just not needed. Public transportation is really good and close by to the apartment and the city, although a lot bigger than we thought, easily walkable. And of course there are a lot of cafes, which make great places to stop, have a coffee, and watch the people go by while resting your feet. We meant to visit a lot more of the museums, but instead visited far more cafes. I think we enjoyed them more than any museum. I can recommend Buffet Van Odette on Prinsengracht 598, La Brasa nearby on Haarlemmerdijk 16, and Greenwoods on Singel 103. We had lunch, dinner, and breakfast and had great meals. We visited the Heineken Experience and had a great time. My daughter visit the Anne Frank House and was very moved by the experience. We just fell in love with Amsterdam. Emmy was a lovely host. She was so helpful and arranged for a taxi to pick us up to take us to the airport. He was even a few minutes early. We would recommend this apartment highly, and Emmy as a wonderful host. Thank you Emmy!
We were fortunate enough to book well in advance of our trip to Amsterdam and secured Emmy’s popular apartment on Prinseneiland.
It is very well situated and only a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Central Station. This was good for us, but maybe a little too far for some. The apartment was ideal for two people and very neat and clean and included everything you need for a short stay. The area is extremely quiet and safe.
As many of the other reviews stated, Emmy is friendly and readily available to provide assistance in terms of finding locations and things to do and see. She was also flexible on our departure, so we could leave our luggage a little longer before having to depart.
All-in-all, we were very pleased and the accommodations were ideal for us wanting to walk and experience the city centre.
We absolutely loved our stay at this apartment last month! It is in a very quiet location but is a lovely 10-15 minute walk to the historic center. Emmy was an attentive and friendly host. The pictures on the listing accurately reflect the quality and reality of the apartment. The linens were fresh and clean and the apartment was tidy and clean as well. We would highly recommend this location and apartment. We are dreaming of our return already! Thanks Emmy :)
Emmy is a brilliant, talented, hostess who provides a great deal of help and assistance if required. Our stay in Amsterdam was enriched by meeting Emmy and staying in her fully equipped apartment.
We highly recommend this place and look forward to returning, hopefully soon!
Thank you Emmy
