Camano Island Waterfront Compound

Bedrooms 4
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Private Sanctuary on 11 acres, with 850' Of Low Bank Puget Sound Waterfront

This is an 11 acre compound on 850'+ of pristine Puget Sound waterfront (including tidelands), featuring the only private dock on Camano island. Abundant sea and wildlife include some of the best crabbing in Puget Sound (in season only), clamming on our own beach, fishing off the dock or out front in Elger Bay (nearly a guaranteed catch of a pile perch or rock sole with a hook and a piece of meat...also pink salmon, cutthroat for the more avid anglers), daily bald eagle, deer, otter, and grey whale sightings (whales in late winter). Beachcomb for miles along a beautiful shoreline, enjoying views of Mt. Rainier, the Olympics, Hat and Whidbey Islands. Main house is 3 bedrooms, including a bunk room with two full and two twin beds, plus two additional twin mattresses that can be used for kids, and queen beds in the other rooms, plus a separate guest house with one queen bed, living room, and full bath (perfect for grandma and grandpa). There are also three bunk beds and three extra mattresses (total of nine twin beds) in the 'Bunkhouse' which is a separate finished garage space located south of the main house and on the bulkhead (no bathroom though but the kids love it...and the Xbox that goes with it).

Enjoy days exploring the five acres (look for the hidden rope swing!) and adjacent Camano Island state park, boating, kayaking and canoeing (with our two sea kayaks, Livingston Dingy, and canoe), swimming (brrr!), clamming, crabbing and fishing, then retire around the enormous seaside firepit to cook s'mores and tell ghost stories.

Off Season (October 15 through May 15) the main house only is available as we have a caretaker in the lower guest house for the winter. Also, the floating portion of the dock is not in the water during the winter months.

Summer high season (6/15 to Labor Day) we request a four night minimum stay.

About Gordon

I grew up spending my favorite weeks in the summers at my family friend's cabin a few miles north of the Honeycomb Hideout and always dreamed of having a place of my own. Our family, along with a close friend and his family, discovered this legacy property a few years ago and we are so fortunate to have been able to made this dream a reality.

Gordon purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Gordon chose Camano Island

Once you drive through the private gate into the neighborhood and drive down the hill to the waterfront, you'll know immediately why this is such a special spot. There are no immediate neighbors, and the privacy and seclusion is amazing. With four bedrooms spread between two houses plus another Bunkhouse, there is lots of room for two or three families and lots of kids. And the access to the beach, along with the dock, is something that is really rare and special in such close proximity to Seattle (only an hour's drive with no traffic and about 60 miles from town).

What makes this cabin unique

The size of the property, the sweeping lawn, and the dock and low bank, accessible waterfront are all rare qualities in an island property. We love it on Camano!

Best Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time while at the Honeycomb Hideaway. With busy grandsons with us it is hard sometimes to feel comfortable in other homes. We felt absolutely at home here. The privacy, view, nature all around was just wonderful. Our memories from our days here will last a long time. We hope to stay again here!! The eight year old grandson told us last night that we should buy it and he had $28 so Gordon how about it?

Thanks again for great location for spring break with the family!

My family of 8 (6 adults, 1 toddler, 1 infant) stayed in this house and were very comfortable.

We hiked on the beach. There’s a beautiful state park within walking distance. The guys fished. We saw 2 eagles swoop down after the fish were cleaned to get their treat. The beach house accommodated us well. Gordon, the owner, was great to communicate with. There is a caretaker that we met also. We’re talking about renting this place again, as every winter we enjoy a family weekend away from the big city. This place was perfect!! The best stocked kitchen we’ve seen for cooking and baking utensils.

Fabulous, highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of those wonderful places that has truly thought of everything. The kitchen is brand new, clean, bright and a delight to cook in. The house although not new is obviously lovingly maintained and I don’t think the photos do it justice, we were pleasantly surprised. Beds are all very comfortable with lots of extra blankets, pillows and sleeping bags if you need them. We stayed in the Winter when it was very cold (and snowing) and the heating did a great job of keeping us all toasty warm, the fireplace was great too. This place is huge and would be so fun with a big group or multiple families. I’d imagine teenagers would really enjoy bunking in the ‘tiny house’. The owners were quick to respond to my text messages and very helpful. I would highly recommend this spot for any season.

A special hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for large families, or a couple of families with kids. Lots of exploring, even in winter. The main house was cozy warm, with plenty of room to play indoor games, read by the fireplace, with a well stocked kitchen. Crabbing off the long dock was successful, and exploring down the beach to the state park was easy at low tide. We can’t wait to come back again in warmer weather.

Great Getaway in a very accomodating home

  • 5 of 5

We gathered with our family for the Thanksgiving weekend and found the home and property completely accommodating to a very relaxing time on the island. We were not looking for extravagant home and features, but rather a comfortable home that complimented our desire to connect as a family and enjoy the out of doors and views. This home fit our family of 6 very well and it was great to be able to have a fire when it was stormy out. The owner was very reasonable and shared his canoe , life jackets, etc with us. It was really perfect. Thank you.
