Guestbook comments from the owner

Our crew from Marietta Ga., came and stayed in Gatlinburg for the 41st year in a row. This year we chose to stay in the Smoky Mountain Lodge. We enjoyed the beautiful view, the snow, the spacious lodge and the camaraderie amongst friends. Included in our stay was a low country boil, finding bear prints in the snow, a Super bowl party, numerous shopping excursions and lots of laughter. We all agree that this is the best view we have had at any of our stays. We will definitely return!

Beautiful place just needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

Very nice place, but needs some maintance issues taken care of (sagging floors, water pressure issues in the cottage, sticking doors, bathroom door locks, door knobs inoperable). The gas grill and one of the charcoal grills are worn out and should be replaced. Cleaning team needs to a better job. All the buildings need to treated for bugs. The location and the views where great, has plenty of parking, a great floor plan in all buildings. The whole family enjoyed our stay and was very relaxing. Just expected more for the price.

The homes were very spacious.

  • 4 of 5

We loved the seclusion of the homes. Wildlife was an added bonus. Would have liked a more organized/ better stocked kitchen, but otherwise very nice.

Amazing rental property!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place had it all - great location, clean, cozy, charming décor, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen for cooking large meals, enough seating inside and out for everyone in our group, breathtaking views, hot tubs.

Our group had 34 of us coming from all across the US – none from TN, but central location for all travelers. Our party would come back to this exact location again for our next reunion. Some even driving the 12-14 hours! It’s that good! Three homes on property was great for each generation of the family.

One of our favorite things was hanging out talking and drinking coffee on one of the many decks overlooking the mountains. It was so relaxing and a great way to start our day.

So much to do - hiking, rafting, golf, downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, lots of shopping opportunities, aquarium, Escape Room, and the grocery store was close by.

We got a surprise visit by a Mama bear and her two cubs who came close, but not threatening at all, just looking for food. Super cool to see!

Thanks for making our family reunion so memorable!

We will be back.

  • 5 of 5

1. We will return someday with our 20 to 30 family members.

2. The property (been a number of years old) the owner need to do normal maintenance and upgrade some of the sleeper hide beds. No major issues, but do not expect new 5 star quality furniture and kitchen pots and pans. Having said the above, the items are about the same quality as my home which needs a little maintenance. One of my family members complained that one of the extra blankets smelled a little musty. I said to wash it which they did and all was OK.

3 We were there over the 4th of July week and a mother bear with 2 baby bears were eating wild cherries in a tree less than 100 feet from the back deck. We watched the bears for about 1/2 hour. The mothers in our group were afraid the baby bears would fall from the very small limbs of the tree. Some said this bear show was worth the trip.

4. While each house has a kitchen we make a family rule that all cooking and meals must be as a group in the main building. Some families did have coffee at their kitchen, but the main meals were in the main building. This work very well and with the outdoor tables we had lots of room.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We took note of your comments and will inventory our pots and pans, etc. It is harder to do during the summer when the Lodge is booked back to back with large groups. We depend on folks like you to bring these things to our attention! Hope we can host another reunion for you in the future!

Perfect for our large extended family.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week here over Memorial Day 2017. Four babies, three teenagers, three singles, and ten couples, all had plenty of room and plenty to do. We used all of the houses and had our big dinners each night in the lodge and on the deck. The two dishwashers were great for easy cleanup. Some people went to Dollywood, Cades Cove, waterfall hikes, checked out the artist and craft shops, moonshine tasting, Escape Rooms, the Aquarium, Obergatlinburg, Great Smoky Mountain Park, white water rafting, zip-lining, strolling the streets of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, an animal petting park, and other places. The hot tubs and swing got plenty of use, as well as the pool table and shuffleboard game. A lot of time was spent in the rocking chairs on the deck just visiting and catching up on each others' busy lives, as we live all over the U.S. We saw some foxes, groundhogs, and birds, but everyone's favorite was the mama black bear and her twin cubs, who scampered up and down the big trees with ease. We weren't threatened but gave them space and treated them with the respect they deserved. Truly a delight for city folks. I would highly recommend this for a large group. We had space to be together as a group, or read a book in peace and quiet. Everyone there expressed how great a place it is and how happy they were that we had found it. Each year is a challenge with our growing family but this fit all our needs.
