About the property

Stunning newly updated and luxuriously outfitted log cabin; classic atmosphere

Welcome to our personal retreat in the Catskills! Completely private and set on an acre overlooking the Hudson Valley. Perfect for a romantic retreat, ski, fall or summer trip with friends, or family getaway. Only 2 hours from the George Washington Bridge in NYC. Professionally cleaned before every stay; property manager lives only a few minutes from the house.

This classic log cabin will be your perfect home base for hiking, skiing, wine-tasting, or just relaxing while soaking in the natural mountain surroundings. Although situated only 10 minutes from downtown Windham with access to a main road, this house is perfectly secluded and enjoys incredible quietude due to being on the side of Mt. Pisgah, surrounded only by thick forest and beautiful farmland. Out back, a private hot tub sits on the freshly remodeled cedar stained deck, overlooking a new stone fire pit and a star-studded view that stretches all the way to Massachusetts. In the summer, picnic and play games on a sprawling lawn.

Inside, a newly stocked kitchen (including spices, coffee, and other essentials) and wood-burning majestic stone fireplace await cozy days spent holed up. Four bedrooms with new, queen-size memory foam beds (one of which has a twin bed bunked above it) and fresh linens will easily accommodate you and your friends. Two charming bathrooms offer updated rain head showers. A wood stove in the upstairs master bedroom provides a warm and romantic ambiance. Enjoy a home-cooked meal in the stunning window-filled dining room which easily seats eight.

Upstairs, there is a TV Room with all new, comfy oversized couches; there are brand new furnishings, beds and linens throughout the house.

There are incredible hiking, biking, skiing and countless other activities in the area. We have a list of our favorite things to do nearby, including favorite restaurants, plus more photos at our site online; follow us on Instagram at @coziestcatskillcabin and click through to our website.

Some things to note:

(1) For summer renters, please note that the house does not have air conditioning. The cabin is situated on the side of a mountain which is usually 10 or 15 degrees cooler than the valley floor. There are ceiling fans throughout the house.

(2) We have done our best to update the house with modern comforts! That being said, the house is in a rural area so internet speeds are not as fast as they are in the city. We have found that the internet is reliable enough to check emails or work remotely.

(3) While the house is finished and fully insulated, and cleaned for every renter, it is located in the mountains and (depending on the time of year), some critters do find their way into the home despite our best efforts and pest-proofing. Again, we have found that being careful about food clean-up and securing doors/windows (especially at night) minimizes any issues.

(4) The basement houses our washer and dryer and extra supplies are also kept down there. However, we ask that renters access the basement via the house and do not use the garage door, which is currently due for repair. As noted in our house manual you will receive when you book, we also ask that you do not park cars in the garage/driveway and only park in the designated area.

We love our home and want to be upfront with our renters. We hope you will come and love it as much as we do!

About Paavana and David Lepard

We're a newly married couple looking for some respite from a busy NYC lifestyle. We love to spend our weekends trail running, fat-biking, winery-hopping, or just taking in the mountains by a crackling fire--and the Northern Catskills were the answer on all fronts. We purchased this cabin earlier this year and spent the summer prepping it for fall and winter renting. We've poured a lot of work into it, but we finally feel like the place offers the kind of weekend experience that we look for either on our own or with friends. We hope you'll love the cabin as much as we do!

Feb 2018 stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for two nights including valentines day. This place is fantastic. The cabin is clean and cozy. The owners have thought of every detail. Every amenity is provided and everything has been thought of and accounted for. I use homeaway a few times a year and this has by far been my best stay. I cannot say enough about how fantastic it was.

Awesome ski cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Close to Windham mountain. Place is clean and gorgeous. Quintessential ski cabin. Highly recommended. Slept two families, very comfy.

Just a note: if you’re looking for a fire every night you’ll need to stop in town to grab wood after 2nd night. Gorgeous fireplace!

Cozy cabin with great accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

The owners were very kind with wonderful accommodations for us during the "bomb cyclone" at the beginning of January 2017. Close to the slopes for snowboarding and other leisurely activities in the mountains. Would stay at the cabin again!

A very cozy cabin indeed a perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great time at the cabin the location is fantastic and is only a 10 minute drive to windam Mountain. Having the combination of the hot tub and fire place was a huge bonus especially considering the cold sub zero tempetures.

Great cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed Christmas weekend and had A great time. It was just what we needed. They are very organized, and the instruction booklet was very helpful. The cabin is super cozy and lovely. It’s pretty big, you can probably have extended family over without feeling overcrowded. I was there with my husband and my baby dog; but there was enough space to bring friends and family and make it large family gathering. For couples, it’s perfect; it’s cozy and romantic. You can enjoy the fireplace and there is a beautiful view from the fire pit outside. During winter, there’s lots of space to run around in the snow. It’s prettier than in the pictures. Paavana and David, were very diligent with the emails and sending all the information before the reservation date arrived. It was a bit pricey probably because of the dates, but the service was very good. By 9am, on Christmas morning, there was a truck removing the snow so we could get our car out without us even asking. It had everything you might need. We went to Hannaford supermarket before arriving, but it was close to the cabin. I suggest going to the cabin first to get settled and figure out what you are missing. I bought oil and condiments to cook etc and they had all of that. All you really need is the actual food. We went back to the store to buy more firewood because we rather use dry firewood, but they had enough firewood for a weekend. Windham ski resort is 12min away according to the gps, but it felt like it was just in the backyard.

I was kind of freaking out that there was no alarm in the cabin, since it was pitch black outside and no neighbors that close, but we googled the crime rate and it’s basically 0! So that really gave me some peace. It’s probably safer than any other area most of us will ever live or stay at.

I almost don’t want to say much more, since we had such a lovely time and don’t want it to be booked all the time so we can go back. Haha j/k Thank you Paavana and David!
