Nelson is world renowned for mountain biking, but there are also beautiful beaches, extensive hiking trails, and an array of challenging golf courses nearby. We are truly a four season destination and our Willows Guest Suite is the perfect location for your adventuresome getaway.
Your hosts are Dr Andrew Jones and his wife, Catherine. We are both working professionals, who love Nelson and all that it has to offer. We are here to make your stay as enjoyable as possible
We are here to make your stay in Nelson as enjoyable as possible- this really is a fabulous place to explore and a great community to be a part of.
We arrived via Nova Scotia, drawn to the mountain community and mountain culture; skiing, snowboarding, boating, fishing, wakeboarding, dining, music, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, are just some of their passions they get to indulge in here in Nelson.
Andrew Jones purchased this apartment in 2007
Our Willows Guest Suite is the perfect lodging with our private one bedroom plus den fully furnished suite. The suite contains a super comfy queen bed, double futon, fine linens, and cozy gas fireplace. Our suite has a fully equipped kitchen and fully anointed bath and shower.
This is a wonderful setting- privacy in the city with an extensive private wooded area, that backs onto the Trans Canada Trail. We are only a short 10 minute walk to the downtown of Nelson.
We love the views, the chance to be in nature, but still be within walking distance to all that Nelson has to offer.
Great for mountain biking in the summer as one main pathway is just off the driveway. Baker Street is a 10 min down hill walk and a $5.25 taxi ride home, or a 20 min uphill walk.
I have visited Nelson many times but this was the first house I rented and it beats a hotel in many aspects. I highly recommend this property for any couple looking for a weekend away. PS I never had Netflix before but now I must get it after staying here!!
We arrived mid April and we were so pleased with the Willow Guest Suite Andrew and Kathleen were so accomodatimg to us. they went over and above to make our stay special. The views from the suite are breathtaking, is 6 mins drivimg distance to anything around town! we made trips to Castlegar, to Ainsworth Hotsprings all within short driving distance. So lush and beautiful, great walking on the rail trail or to town to Oso Negro. We loved the neat shops and ambiance of the downtown. Found many treasures in the used bookstores downtown. we will be back! We were so glad for a restful 2 week break, to see our son, and relax and just enjoy ourselves. Thank you for having us !!
This is a really nice 2 bedroom unit located on the hill above the charming and eclectic counter-culture city of Nelson. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Andrew was super flexible as we had to change our arrival date by one day and advised him the very same day and he was nice enough to make the change and not bill us for the day but we did extend our stay by one day as we got a super dump of magic powder snow at Whitewater (20 minutes away) and couldn't miss out on the opportunity. Views are fantastic and watching the sun set with an organic "Paddywhack"Nelson brewed IPA (beer) after a day of hardcore skiing was sublime. No window in the second bedroom which at first was a negative but it allowed me to sleep in to 9 on non ski days and I am usually up at 5h30 so this was a relaxing bonus. Gas fireplace was nice and warmed up our damp clothing nicely. It would have been nice to have a washer and dryer as we were there for 10 days. If you are a foodie then bring your own sharp knife as the knives were very dull and we struggled cutting through lemons, but that is not unusual for a rental. This is a basement suite but very bright due to nice windows and southern exposure. Decent soundproofing but we did hear walking above but nothing to really be of any annoyance. The bottle of wine provided was a nice touch. Nelson is a pretty city with lots of bars and restaurants and shops. Nice ambiance and food at The Library in the Hume Hotel. Also great tacos at a place on Baker street whose name escapes me. If you are a powder hound and there is a significant snowfall as there often is at Whitewater (they average 1200 cm/40 feet of snow/season), arrive at the hill by 8 cause a lot of people do just to get first tracks. It took us 30 minutes to get on the chair the first time but oh was it worth it. (after the first run you barely encounter any other skiers here). Snow here is super dry and glade skiing (and cliff jumps) are to die for. This is not really a beginner hill but they do have a few green runs on the Silver King Chair side. Cafeteria food here is the best I have ever had. Unbelievable. Moroccan lamb curries. Humungous beef burritos. Don't bother packing a lunch.
All in all a great ski vacation in a truly fine location and great accommodations. What more can you really ask for? We will be back. Danny E (Montreal).
Our stay was so nice! Super clean, fully stocked, and very nicely decorated. Newly constructed, extremely comfortable. Easy to warm up after skiing. Loved the views across the valley each morning. Love to come back! Oh, and a lovely bottle of local wine was waiting for us.
Our stay at the Willow Suite was wonderful. The suite was cozy, charming and perfectly equipped for all our needs. The view from the hill was lovely - we were situated in Nelson but we could look out over the city lights to sky and mountain. The trail behind the suite was perfect for walking our dog.
Nelson is the undiscovered jewel of western Canada.
Here you will find stunning scenery, with the largest inland lake in British Columbia, Kootenay Lake, abundant wildlife, natural hot springs, every recreation you can imagine; world class golfing, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking…just to name a few.
We have a wonderful climate, giving us warm summer days, with all the water sports you can imagine…swimming, fishing, water skiing, tubing, or off to the Hot Springs. Then there is winter and our epic powder. “Ski Canada” rated Whitewater as Best Deeps, Best Bowls, and Best Glades. “Powder Magazine” declared it among the best powder in British Columbia.
Nelson has a vast arts community; hundreds of musicians, painters, where you may see their pieces in “ArtWalk” or at the new Museum and Art Gallery. We are a accepting community, otherwise known as ‘alternative’…most anyone will be at home here.
