Back to Nature
Had a spectacular time at this property. Every night was spent around the fire pit roasting marshmallows. We even took the canoe out for a spin on the water. It was the perfect place to retreat from the world, but with convenient shopping nearby. A visit to historic, downtown Gig Harbor was lovely, with lunch at the Tides restaurant where we watched a local kayak race. We used the Weber grill to cook hamburgers and there were plenty of pots and pans to make a variety of meals.
Renting this house was a little different from other rentals we've used because communication was through a third party property management company. We weren't allowed to communicate with the owners or get the address until 15 days prior to renting it.
Something to consider: Purchase several gallons of water for coffee and cooking if you are averse to the odor of "egg" water.
This house is a relatively short drive from Seattle but miles away from stress.
Great getaway cabin!
We spent a week at the cabin and had a great time! It feels private with a great view of the water, But a short drive today all of the restaurants and shops in Gig Harbor. And it’s only a short drive to Tacoma (about 15 minutes). We had a great time taking the canoe out for a spin enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife.
Beautiful view in this cozy cabin!
We really enjoyed our spring break trip to this cabin. The view, large grounds, wrap around porch and beach access is really amazing! Our first grader loved finding shore crabs at low tide and getting to take his first canoe ride (we brought along a child life vest). I believe we would rent here again in the summer. The garage has a kayak, canoe, two adult life vests, two orange style life vests and ample swim toys for kids. The only issues keeping this from being 5 stars is the older seating in the living room that is not supportive and ripped in places and the iron/mineral smell of the water. Other than that, it is a rustic 1970's style retreat to the beach. Perfect for a small family outing. One note to colder weather renters... read the welcome manual in detail and follow the directions closely to get the heat started. It is easy once you get the hang of it. If you have children with you...bring your sand buckets and turn over the rocks at low tide to find dozens of small shore crabs.
Michael, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Please know that new furniture is on its way and will be in place by July. A new filtration system was recently installed and we are just learning about the frequency of filter replacement requirements that are needed to keep the water sweet. The filter removes heavy metals and sulfur. I have arranged for regular filter changes. Thank you for your patronage.
A quiet place to getaway with your family.
Had a wonderful time. Everything was as we were expecting from pictures and emails. Can’t wait to go back next year and add a day to our trip. We all wanted to stay longer. Beautiful sunsets. Close by parks and trails for added adventure.
Picked this out without knowing much about the area. Great little cabin, but the main attraction was the outdoor fire pit and views of the Sound.
This quirky cabin was so great
The views are amazing of the Sound and the Olympic mountains. You are 10 minutes away by car from exploring downtown Gig Harbor. The cabin was perfect for a getaway where we enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, and checking out the Harbor. The three bedrooms worked great for us, we hope to be back to enjoy kayaking and more sight seeing.
