The houses have been our main residential family home until 2011. We now principally live in the UK, and spend vacations here. A wonderful home.
Uninterrupted views of the Luberon Valley, olive trees, lavender and fruit orchard surround us in perfect privacy. The house is fantastic for large groups, very spacious and very comfortable, so no one feels on top of one another. Previous guests have all said the photos do not do it justice and are so pleased they are returning next year!
Whether you want to laze by the pool and do nothing, or visit a local market, take the children and adults kayaking or visit the wonderful hilltop villages or roman ruins and old chateaux in the area - all are here! The short walk to the café in Lacoste is great for the younger adults too!
I had the pleasure of staying at this property with 14 (yes, 14) dear friends. The pictures of the property are if anything, not beautiful enough. The owner couldn't have made it easier for us with directions and recommendations and the groundskeeper, could not have been more helpful. Do yourself a big favor, rent this place. I know that I hope to have the pleasure again, soon!
We had a mix of couples and single adults and this property exceeded our expectations. Its all and more of what is shown in the photos. We stayed and cooked 6 of 7 nights because it was so much fun. Communal areas (kitchen, foyer, family room, etc) provided a great atmosphere for a fun week. Rooms are beautifully decorated. The guardian that lives on the property was a great guy and very helpful. There was even a large container of olive oil just pressed from the trees on the property. Only slight drawback is that a couple of the bedrooms in the little house were less desirable than the other bedrooms. Perhaps not perfect for a group of couples but would be for families because adults could stay in the big house and kids in the little. The location is excellent though there is not much one can walk to. Car and/or bicycles needed. Also, we would a lot more convenient if the owner accepted something other than wire transfers for payment.
This property exceeded my grandest expectations. The pictures online suggested an elegant comfort amid beautiful grounds, but I was unprepared for that moment of stunning surprise when we first arrived on the property. We were greeted by sweeping views of the Luberon hills, terraced gardens with olive and almond trees, the fragrance of lavender and of course, that classic Provencal home. Every detail in the house was finely appointed, from the beautiful furnishings in every room to all the bed linens. Our group consisted of 5 couples, and the home accommodated all 10 of us in luxurious style. We loved exploring the hill towns of the Luberon during the day and then returning to the tranquil welcome of that expansive terrace in the late afternoon. We cooked many of our evening dinners at home and the kitchen was a chef's dream come true. The property owner was charming and easy to work with before our stay and she followed up while we were there to make sure all was going smoothly. She was a delight and we appreciated her attention. The care taker on site was also fantastic. He checked in with us periodically and his careful attention to detail was impressive. I am recommending this property to my friends at home and I hope to go back myself, as it is truly hard to imagine a better location for an active yet peaceful vacation.
Our expectations of the house from photos and website were greatly exceeded upon our arrival. This home is so wonderful that words and photo's can not adequately describe it. We were 5 couples from USA. The location allowed easy travel to more villages than we were able to get to. The views are exceptional and the numerous sitting areas, both inside and out, were quite comfortable. Picking fresh fruit from the orchards for breakfast was great. We especially enjoyed going to the numerous markets in nearby villages for lunch and to get whatever we desired for dinner to cook in the fantastic kitchen. The property manager lives on property and could not have been nicer or more helpful.
We will definitely be back!!!
A fantastic house in a wonderful area. The house is very spacious and comfortable and feels like a real home. It is amazingly well equipped with unbelievable quantities of things in cupboards - there is nothing you would not be able to find in the kitchen/pantry! It's got the lot! If you are looking for a large house so you are not on top of each other then this is the one. You would definitely need more than one family if you wanted to fill both houses.
There are so many places to sit and reflect whilst soaking up the stunning views, and different options on where to eat - this terrace or that one, and plenty of space around the swimming pool to accommodate everyone, with lots of cushions and towels.
Every bedroom is en-suite except for one where the bathroom is opposite, so it is very comfortable.
It has a table tennis table, trampoline and swings and a grassy area where you could play badminton or such like.
The area itself is charming with wonderful towns and villages to explore, and many great restaurants. It is rural so it is a quiet holiday, but that is what we like. We have 4 children of all ages and they all enjoy it.
It is a gem!
An amazing sanctuary from the UK and all that we have come to expect from our summers. This exquisite country house offered my family, friends and I an extremely relaxing two weeks in beautiful sunshine with views of the Luberon mountain range and its stunning surroundings, you will never want to leave. It has everything mentioned and more. Whether you’re taking a dip in the fresh water pool, or having a siesta under the trees with a gentle breeze, sipping a cold glass of Rose on the veranda, staying here will relax you more than you thought possible! I cannot recommend this holiday destination enough. The villages of Lacoste and Bonnieux are very charming with great restaurants, boulangeries and bars.
The house itself is extremely well equipped and very comfortable, with soft pillows, wonderful cotton sheets and very comfy beds. There is also a great library of books, cds / dvds and Sky tv which is great for the children. No mosquitos on our stay which I was very glad about.
I would thoroughly recommend this house as I have done to my friends who will be visiting this summer.
The imposing 16th Century Chateau of Lacoste dominates the village. There is the Pierre Cardin Opera and Music Festival in the old Quarry of Lacoste every summer. Every day there are local colorful local country markets. In august villages have summer fetes, bull-running and fun fairs.
Nearby are Gordes, Menerbes, Bonnieux, the beautiful picturesque hilltop villages dating back from the Middle Ages. Apt, Cavaillon and Ile Sur La Sorgue have large supermarkets and shops. Ile Sur La Sorgue being the centre for antiques in Provence has wonderful ‘brocante’ sales every Saturday and Sunday.
Golf,Tennis Courts nearby. Camargue and beaches near. Kayaking at Ile Sur La Sorgue.
