Beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bath home situated on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the US. Everything included to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We are a family of four from Austin Texas . We fell in love with The Big Island our first vacation there.
Tim Phelps purchased this condo in 2013
We chose this property because of the beauty and the exclusivity of Mauna Lani. Golf Villas has an onsite property manager so the property is well taken care of.
The beauty, the golf course and the ability to go to our own private resort beach, with a bar and grill.
Thanks for helping arrange our stay in your unit. We enjoyed our few days at Golf Villas. It was too short!!! There were plenty of supplies and cooking utensils. The grounds and rec. center were in good condition. The sliding hide away front screen door was welcome. There was a good trade wind breeze that comes through from front to back.
O2 was our 4th unit we've stayed in at the Golf Villas, and the third as a 2 BD / 2 BA. We have also stayed at the Fairways and Ka Milo developments at Mauna Lani. Golf Villas is our favorite at Mauna Lani, if we don't need 4 bedrooms. I am giving 5 Stars because owners were extremely easy and responsive to work with, their rates attractive, and the unit was comfortable, very clean, exactly as advertised, and nicely decorated and appointed. (Could use a salad spinner - but that's just me! =^D) This is the first unit we've stayed in that had its lanai face the mountains (East), and I actually preferred it more than the view of the others facing the sunset. The mountains are spectacular, and seeing them in the morning was one of my favorite parts of the day. The unit is very convenient to the pool and workout room. Even though Bldg. O is adjacent to the entry road, there were no car lights or road noise to bother the unit. It was just as quiet as the units on the other side of the development. These 2 BD / 2 BAs do have units on an above floor, and occasionally daytime foot traffic can be heard, but not really voices - unless they are out on their lanai.
It is still a five stars rental, but one thing I will note that was of personal, even admittedly picky, concern for us, and so YMMV and it may or may not affect your own stay as much as it did ours. We did not like the Master Bed at all - might even say we hated it. To us, it felt like sleeping on five inches of thick foam encased with crib plastic. We understand the goal of hygiene for the guests, but the plastic mattress protective cover and pillow protective covers made the bed very hot and very noisy when turning throughout the night. Turning was difficult with the body-hugging thick, dense foam - so it took some work to move on it, which made more noise from the plastic. We've not encountered this at any of our other past rentals. The other couple with us did not have similar complaints with the second bedroom - although please note, it has twin beds that cannot be moved together, and if they were any of our other friends, that would have been a reservation deal-breaker.
In review, we loved this place's location, comfort, reservation ease, cleanliness, and view. We would definitely highly recommend it - just with the one caveat of the Master Bed, in mind. That would be the only thing that would give us a second thought for next year.
Aloha, and enjoy O2!
Great location and amenities. Especially appreciated chairs, umbrella and other beach going supplies. Kids loved to pool too. Thanks so much!
Mauna Lani location was great! We loved the quiet resort experience vs. the busier Waikoloa Village area. At points, the community pool felt like our own private backyard pool as there was NO ONE else there! Private beach was very nice, and the shops @ Mauna Lani were convenient. We were especially grateful that the owners were kind enough to send us the "events of the week" that were free at the shops! We enjoyed the Lei making, and 2 Hawaiian dance shows that were spectacular! Save your money for a Luau, and enjoy the free entertainment here, and enjoy one of their restaurants located within the shops. The owners were VERY accommodating. Upon our arrival, we noticed there was not a beach umbrella. Panic set in as a week in the HI sun would kill us. We reached out to them, and by the end of the day the umbrella was on the porch! Very nice. The condo had ALL the amenities you could possibly want to feel at home! A few notes however, that might be considered for future guests....the beds were terribly uncomfortable. Master bed had a 4 inch foam pad, that you sunk into a hole and could not move all night. Not to mention the heat it creates. We left with sore backs and eager to return to our beds at home. A strange and scary discovery, was a huge broken picture/wall art frame under the sofa cushion! We left a note for the cleaning crew to remedy this, as it's definitely a hazard. That aside, we truly had a great experience there!
We just returned from a 10 day stay at this condo and had an awesome time. The condo was well equipped and located within the Mauna Lani resort, which gave us access to the private beach. It was so nice to be just a few minutes from a private beach. Snorkeling was good at the beach and swimming was also nice. We had everything we needed at the condo and it was great having a cooler, beach chairs and boogie boards to take to Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beaches. The beds were comfortable and the condo was clean. Everything was just as nice as the pictures showed. Tim and Laura were great to work with. One of the highlights of our trip was snorkeling with the manta rays. Would definitely recommend going with Sunlight on Water for the manta ray snorkel. Thanks for sharing your condo with us. Hope to make a return trip to the island and would like to stay at this same condo again.
This condo is extremely well-equipped and a short walk to the pool. The pool area is the best we have seen on the Big Island. The extra treat is the use of the private beach club.
Entering the Golf Villas resort for the first time, we were impressed by the beauty of the grounds, mountain views, well groomed golf course and landscaping. Golf Villas felt more private and less densely packed compared to next door Waikoloa Beach resort.
The condo was perfectly appointed for us (two couples). We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and spices. We took advantage of the grill at the pool. Cooking for ourselves saved us money to use on adventures. Downside: dull knives and unfriendly stove knobs with print worn off. Never figured out how to control the heat even referencing the picture on the frig.
Enjoyed a short stroll to the pool and hot tub every night. Three of us developed skin rashes after using the hot tub by the third night though. The private beach was the best for snorkeling and sunbathing. Nearby Mauna Kea beach and Hapuna Beach were great for boogie boarding.
We didn't use the AC and just opened the doors to let in the island breeze. The foam mattress was too soft (like marshmallow) and the pillows were too hard. We slept better on the couch.
This is ground floor unit with apparently no insulation so we definitely heard our neighbors above us, every step they took, every drawer they opened, every door they closed... Usually wasn't a problem as we were out and about during most of the day.
