Troncones House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, Two Bath Oceanfront home with pool

At Casa La Paloma, comfort and convenience are assured.

The larger house (the casa) has a master bedroom with a king size bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds (that can be converted to a king). The large bathroom has twin sinks and a beautifully tiled shower. There is ample closet and shelf space. The master bedroom opens onto the covered porch, which includes a comfy built-in sofa. The view from this porch takes in the outdoor kitchen and dining palapa, along with the pool and ocean beyond.

The smaller house (the casita) has a king size bed, one twin bed, lovely tiled shower and bathroom, lounging area and tiled patio opening onto the pool.

Bath and pool towels are provided, as well as a portable CD player, backgammon, scrabble, a ping pong table and some other kids' games. Free wireless Internet access is available on site for those who'd like to bring a laptop.

The fully furnished kitchen includes a coffemaker, blender, all utensils, toaster and toaster oven, bottled drinking water and refrigerator.

Out on the beach, there is a delightful shaded ramada with several hammocks. This is a fine place to nap, read, or idle away an afternoon.

Casa La Paloma is ideal for two couples, or one or two families. Maximum capacity is 6 adults and 2 kids.

The beach in front of the house is usually ideal for swimming and boogie boarding. There is a popular beach break for surfers as well.

Children of all ages are welcome at Casa La Paloma.

A wonderful local family lives in the gatehouse at the rear of the property. Gato is our master gardener and surf guide, his lovely wife Yesi is the housekeeper, and their beautiful young girls are Montserrat (Monzie) and Emily . Yesi is also an amazing cook. Guests can contract with her to prepare some meals. She does wonderful things with the fresh shrimp, lobster, and fish available nearby.

About Bruce Cushnir

Casa La Paloma is owned by Bruce and Emmy Cushnir from Santa Cruz, California. Bruce owns and operates a Santa Cruz furniture store (The Couch Potato--) and Emmy is registered nurse and a licensed acupuncturist. We come to our little paradise in Troncones at least two or three times a year and we always have a wonderful time. Our two teenage boys have grown up with these regular visits and they both speak Spanish very well. Our caretaker family has become a part of our family. They have been with us since we built the property.

Bruce Cushnir purchased this house in 2001

Why Bruce Cushnir chose Guerrero

Troncones is a special village, and we think Casa La Paloma is located ideally, fronting the best section of the beach, but just a ten minute walk to the center of the village. Troncones has managed to avoid the tourist crush that happens to so many beach towns. The locals are friendly, the restaurants are not fancy, but there are many that are excellent. The beach is never crowded, even during the holiday times.

What makes this house unique

Casa La Paloma is very private. We own the undeveloped lot on one side (and plan to keep it that way!). Our neighbor on the other side is rarely there and doesn't rent her home. We rent the property in its entirety--it is your groups private retreat!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at Casa de Paloma was very enjoyable, and the experience more than met our expectations. The photos on this excellent website give an accurate picture of a great part of the natural beauty, but are not able to duplicate the sense of relaxation gained by the privacy found here. The property is nestled up against a large hill which is covered by lush, tropical foliage. It is so relaxing to float in or sit around the pool and look up at the jungle. Of course, this is all complemented by the sounds of the waves crashing nearby. The gardens and foliage add to the feelings of privacy, blocking any obtrusive views. It is easy to spend the whole day hanging around.

Friendly service given by Gato and Yesi makes one feel at home, and their helpfulness was indispensable. Daughters Monserat and Emily add to the comfortable atmosphere.

The sleeping facilities are spacious and comfortable. We came during the hottest, dampest time of the year, and we were quite pleased with the ceiling fans for cooling.

In summary Casa de Paloma is a tastefully designed, comfortable hideaway. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy all that the tropics of Mexico have to offer.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

There were just three of us (our son had to cancel at the last minute) but we could have had six to eight people here no problem. Fantastic location, just an amazingly beautiful property right on the beach in Troncones. Great surfing a short car drive away in the mornings, then as much swimming, bodysurfing and/or boogie boarding you could want the rest of the time. It is VERY HOT in July and yes there is no air conditioning but we loved it.

Gato and Yesi were great hosts, and of course Mandira (sp?) the house dog plus other neighborhood pets came around now and then to say hello. Yesi cooked us a great rock lobster dinner and Gato was really helpful with a lot of local knowledge.

Recommend eating at Cafe Martha up in Majahua but there's good food everywhere. Zihua is fun for a day trip, a very beautiful fishing and tourist harbor town. If you're a surfer ... nobody ever surfs the beach break for some reason...probably because it tends to close out and break boards. But you can surf all day without another soul in the water!

I would definitely come back.

Surf, sun, and sand

  • 5 of 5

It was what we were looking for and all that it was advertised to be. It may not have 5 star finishes to all the amenities, but it has top notch space for privacy, access to all you need, and just pure enjoyment of the sun, surf, and sand. Gato and Yesi complete the experience with hospitality and local knowledge and connections. We came for a restful time with good friends. The space gave us all that without being on top of each other. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable vacation. We are already looking at the calendar to see when we can return.

Casa Paloma, Troncones, Mexico

  • 5 of 5

Wow, fantastic property. My two friends and I just returned from a week there and absolutely loved it. Three private bedrooms for each of us, great outdoor living, very private and tranquil. The property manager and his wife, Gato and Yesi, were very attentive but respectful of our privacy. It was nice knowing they were nearby. Recommend stopping at the grocery store in Zihua before heading there as there are no significant markets in town (there is a little convenience shop for soda, chips, beer, etc). But fresh seafood and produce trucks come by the house almost everyday. Definitely try La Mexicana up the street for good food. No air conditioning so summers could be pretty uncomfortable. We had a rental car so it afforded us some independence but only used it once to go into Zihua. If you want to sight see definitely get a car. Very very relaxing and beautiful.

Relaxing in Troncones

  • 4 of 5

In May 2014 we spent a very relaxing week at Casa La Paloma. The accommodations were perfect for two couples: two separate sleeping areas and two bathrooms (there are additional beds in each of the two sleeping areas for one other couple or for children) Casa La Paloma has a lovely pool, shaded hammocks and great beach access. The section of the beach right in front of the house is a good spot to play in the surf...not rocky. The kitchen is well stocked with plates and utensils and cooking equipment. The dining areas are outdoors. The grounds are well maintained and lush. There was daily cleaning service, beds were comfortable, linens and kitchen supplies were clean but worn (which didn't matter to us.) The written description and photos presented on VRBO did accurately represent Casa La Paloma. It is a very beautiful spot!

Gato and Yesi, the on-site property managers where very helpful and gracious. Yesi cooked two delicious meals for us at our request. Bruce, the owner, was very helpful and responded to all my emails in a very timely manner.

We enjoyed the low key and friendly atmosphere of Troncones. Some of our party practiced yoga daily at Present Moment Yoga retreat center a 5 minute walk from Casa La Paloma. We walked to restaurants in Troncones and the villages north. We rode bikes which we rented in town. We walked on the beach. This is a place to relax, read, walk and enjoy the sounds of the ocean not a place for night life or lots of tourist activities. But that is what we liked about Troncones and Casa La Paloma.

One word of caution... there is no air conditioning at Casa La Paloma, which we knew prior to booking our stay because it is stated in the VRBO description. We were there in the middle of May (to attend a wedding in Ixtapa) and the weather was very hot. Sleeping was difficult due to the heat. Each sleeping room does have a ceiling fan which helped but not enough to make sleeping comfortable. For this reason, I give Casa La Paloma a good rating 4 stars rather than excellent 5 stars.

I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative provided they were in Troncones when the weather was not so hot. I would not recommend Casa La Paloma to someone who needs air conditioning.

Thank you to Gato, Yesi and Bruce for a lovely week at Troncones.

Car: not necessary

Troncones is a very special place: remote, yet accessible; comfortable but still unspoiled by tourist overload. If you are looking for a high rise hotel, loud discos, and a place to show off your high fashion, Troncones is not for you. But if your idea of paradise is an unspoiled stretch of beach with privacy and tranquility, then come discover Casa La Paloma.

Troncones is a sleepy little village, and the local people are friendly and warm. Iguanas, lizards, and colorful butterflies abound. Sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand and there is a local project to preserve and protect them. The soft breezes that waft in from the ocean caress you and rustle the palm trees and the sun shines warmly just about every day. The night sky in Troncones is a wonder to behold, an array of stars that encourage contemplation and romance.
