It’s a very safe place to live; Also Merida was ranked the safest city in the world. Merida has all the amenities and restaurants/stores similar to the US. TGI Fridays, Chilies, Boston Pizza, Wal-Mart, Home depot, Sams Club, Costco, etc..
NOTE: We would consider doing a Property Exchange; for another location. Caribbean, Spain or Italy.
My wife and I live in the US. currently, in New Mexico. We are from the east cost (Vermont and Massachusetts), we were snow birds, but love the beach.
We searched hi and low though many countries and Caribbean islands and for a remarkable beach front house. For the price and quality and mainly friendliness of the Mexican and Mayan population in the Yucatan mexico won us over.
Alan C Boissy purchased this house in 2009
We believe the benefit to this property is that it’s quite, an so refreshing. Meticulous cared for landscaping and house; Great beach area, with little neighbors or people, an excellent area for relaxation and rejuvenation. The biggest benefit is the area, a great little town feel, with all the smaller mom & pop restaurants.
What I love about our home; so many things come to mind, our favorites are:
1. Having coffee in the morning sitting on the cover terrace gassing at the ocean watching wildlife, and reading a good book.
2. Walking the very long beach; without a sole on it, collecting shells.
3. Watching the amazing sunset every night
4. you could also order take out from some of the local restaurants if you choose.
Nice property, very comfortable. Ruins and wetlands for birding very close. Took day trips ro several ruins from here.
We had another wonderful stay in San Crisanto. We will definitely be back!!!!!
Thank you for making available this house for our stay.
We had a wonderful week in San Crisanto. The beach house was perfect! We loved waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the waves! The outdoor furniture was comfy too for sunning. The yard is lovely with palm trees, pool and terrace. Everything was in great condition and very clean. Javier was very helpful and friendly. He even gave us ideas for day trips. He is very knowledgeable. We enjoyed eating at local restaurants, walking the beach, taking a tour of the mangroves, visiting the ruins in Xcambo as well as shopping in Progreso. It was a delightful stay.
We very much appreciated all the info the owner gave us ahead of time. He was very prompt in answering our questions. We highly recommend staying here!

We had a great time there and Javier, the property manager was great! The water was clear in the morning for swimming and we walked the beach for blocks and could have gone much further. The house was roomy and pretty, great bedding in the master. I love the town here, clean and neat and friendly. The Mangroove tour was excellent and if we had been going to stay longer we would have arranged a flamingos tour as well.
This property needs TLC and personal attention.
Window screens have large gaps, where screens smaller that the windows have been screwed on. Doors have large gaps where bugs enter the house (when I stepped out of the shower one morning, there was a huge black spider in the shower with me). Plumbing problems. Sub standard cook pots release black pieces of non stick material in the food while cooking. Dogs come on the property from the beach daily, to drink water from the pool.
I would not rent this house again as is, as some work would need to done to bring it up to standard.
Great location. Javier, the gentleman who looks after the property, is amazing. He is always available and ready to help, and will come to the house if needed.
We vacated the property a few days earlier than planned, and went to Merida to check into a nice hotel to be bug free for a few days.
We live in Merida and with our renovations we needed a break. Thank you Karen and Alan for this wonderful getaway. The first night we arrived it was windy and even though, the view and sound of the waves directly in front of the house was calming and our stresses started to slip away. The house is so well divided we had plenty of space outside to choose from in and out of the sun. We needed peace and quiet and the house offered the privacy we needed in combination with meeting a few new friends up the road. Xavier was wonderful. He had cleaned the beach front before we arrived and in the week all we needed was to call and he answered right away. He fixed the screens and a few other things in response to a previous post and was so quick about it. We have rented many homes in the area for many years and this was among the best. We invited a few friends for a Sunday afternoon brunch and I was able to cook 6 dishes in the kitchen. Such a great house and close enough to Progresso to drive in on a few occasions.
Many Mayan Ruins to Visit; San Crisanto's Mangrove tour, Nearby All-inclusive resort with exceptional dinning; Progreso's Many Bars and Restaurants; and Many shopping spots.
