We moved to the beautiful and special area here in Mt. Shasta full time about 2 years ago from Sonoma County. We have been travelling to this area for the past 7 years when we purchased the chalet for our use as a vacation home. We knew the area was special and was the place we wanted to raise our two young boys so we built a new house and opened up our wonderful chalet for others to enjoy.
Ruth Altes purchased this chalet in 2006
This house is situated on the side of the mountain that we love. We love the landscape and the weather on this side of the mountain, it is typically cooler in the summer and we are fortunate to get our fair share of snow. We don't get the wind that the more western side of Mt. Shasta area gets and we typically get the same snow fall that the ski park enjoys at their base. We are not in the city, have few neighbors and have the mountain as our back yard. We ride our quads, snowmobiles, bikes, horses, and even hike right from the property. We are close enough to town and all of the lakes, streams and rivers that we also enjoy all of the water sports and fishing. We remodeled the house when we bought it in 2006, so it has unique features and has a great layout to accommodate many people.
Nearby enjoy a beautiful outdoor venue for your wedding or other special event: (weddings, corporate retreats, family reunion, BBQ, Birthday Parties, Spiritual Retreat, Yoga Retreat, Company parties, etc.) Located only 3 miles from the Chalet with plenty of parking and lots of great amenities to come. A spectacular view of Mt. Shasta along with surrounding mountains. Also available: overnight horse accommodations and horse camping and RV spots as well. Call 530-925-2608 for more information or to reserve your dates.
Ruth's Altes chalet is the place to enjoy the snow, the warm fire, the well-equipped kitchen, and the cozy, comfortable beds after a long day on the slopes. As a group of snowboarders with teens, we were welcomed and felt supported by Ruth. She understands love of sport and love of fun and made sure everything was communicated well, and her correspondence was respectful and timely. The house is in great condition with lots of places to talk, play, or lounge. The well-stocked supply of seasoned fire wood was a real bonus for those who love a cozy fire and s'mores after dinner. The land is pretty and feels secluded and private, yet, it is really close to Mt. Shasta Snow Park-a real plus in the rush to get to the slopes for a full day of fun. Thanks for your hospitality, Ruth. We will be back. I am thinking summer would be a great time to visit, too.
This was our 2nd annual weekend trip with multiple families and lots of kids. The house fit us all perfectly and is clean and well-kept. The kitchen is well-stocked. We had no reason to even drive anywhere as the snow outside the house was perfect for sledding, snow ball fights, and snow-person making. We had a blast and will come back again.
We had an excellent stay. Big Cabin with lots of bedrooms and lots of privacy. Ruth even came in before we got there and opened up the cabin and made a fire for us.
We held our annual family reunion at this lovely locale and everyone really enjoyed our accommodations. Ruth is the consummate host with timely responses and a supportive attitude. The wooded lot and the chalet's country charm complimented many good nearby eateries and some splendid mother nature.
Our 3rd trip here it is a home away from home. House is clean and fully equipped with lots of room for 2 families with pets and more. Ruth has a detailed binder with any house, adventure and dining information needed. We had winter and spring weather adventures! Can't wait to come back!
