If you are seeking an alternative to large commercial resorts, these townhouse apartments provide the ideal opportunity to experience local lifestyles in a charming southern coastal town!

We offer a choice of three seperate units, all of which have a unique layout and are very nicely furnished. All units have private bathroom facilites, a fully equipped kitchen, dining/living room area and varied sleeping options. Each unit has a TV with good cable options and internet service.

The property is located on the edge of the village, in a typical quiet residential area. The area is serviced by a variety of shops which are within a few minutes walk. The piazza (centre of town) and seafront are 300 - 400 metres away and there are numerous small local bars and restaurants scattered around the town and along the seafront.

We guarantee that this property is fully licensed by the Malta Tourism Authority to be used as holiday home accommodation. Details are available on request.

More about Birzebbuga: The town has a population of 10’000 people. There are 8 churches/chapels and the main church is St. Peters. On the first Sunday in August the feast of St. Peter is celebrated. The feast includes local activities, processions, village band, street decorations spectacular fireworks.The name Birzebbugia means “well of olives” which was one of the main productive industries in the area many years ago. There is an open air market which is held along the main street leading to the church every Thursday from 6am until 1pm. There are several traditional bakeries still using the traditional stone ovens. The local delicacy known as 'Bigilla' which is made out of broad beans is still delivered by street vendor, as is fresh fish and other local produce.

More historical facts about Birzebbuga: Birzebbuga history dates back 7400 years ago at Ghar Dalam (Dark Cave). It was here that the earliest evidence of human settlement on Malta. It is a huge cavern which is 144 metres deep with evidence of the earliest settlers. More recent history dating to the Bronze age (3000BC), include the Borg In Nadur ancient settlement site, however this site is currently closed to the public and its preservation are in hand at Heritage Malta in Valletta. During the 16th century the Knights of St. John constructed a number of small forts along the southern coast. This was to further defend the coastline after the Great Seige of 1565 against the Ottomon Turks whom invaded Malta from Birzebbuga and nearby Marsaxlokk. On December 3rd, 1989 US President Bush and USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachev met on board the Soviet ship SS Maxim Gorkiy just of the coast of Birzebbuga. During this important meeting the leaders ended the Cold War. You can see the monument dedicated to this event on the coast.

Getting around from Birzebbuga: From the comfort of your holiday home you can plan your daily schedule. There are abundance of sites to visit in the south including most of the prehistoric temples sites such as Hypogeum Temple, Tarxien, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra. The historical citiy of Birgu (Vittoriosa) and the Grand Harbour are a short drive away. Other popular places to visit in the south include the Blue Grotto and the fishing village of Marsaxlokk is under 3km away.. A regular bus service to Valletta and other towns are frequent and cheap, you can then link to other places of interest such as Mdina, Rabat and the north of the island. Car hire is also a good option and provides even more freedom to explore, especially if you intend touring non stop…! We can also arrange day tours, cruises and day trips to Sicily for you, including pick-up from Birzebbuga.

This unit consists of a nice open plan layout which includes a comfortable sitting area with two sofas, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom has bath/shower. Both bedrooms have double beds, the main bedroom is very large and can easily accommodate a cot for families with baby/infant. The second bedroom is smaller with divan type double bed. A balcony with open country views can be accessed from the main bedroom.

This property has been designed for comfort, providing a homely ambience. The kitchen/dining/sitting and both bedrooms have ceiling fans. Also included is internet (cable or Wifi), TV with cable. A DVD movie, book and games library are available from the common area.

Why Chris chose Island of Malta

It is located in a quiet area on the edge of the town, yet only 400 metres from the piazza (centre) and beach...all the shops are in walking distance.

This property has a special place in our hearts, the land the property is built on, was given to my wife by her father.

The holiday apartments that we are offering are actually the result of an extensive conversion from what was our own enormous house, having a floor area of 350sqm, into these three spacious and beautiful independent units..this total conversion happened between mid 2009 and mid 2010.

We now live in a much smaller house and closer to our place of work.

We are confident you will have some fond memories of the property and the location just like we have...we do look forwarding to welcoming you to our home.

What makes this apartment unique

As the property is close to all the shops it is very convenient. In additional it is located at the edge of the village, therefore there is hardly any vehicles passing.

The fact that the property is village core, our guests particularly find the neighbours, shop owners very friendly and courteous which quite normal for Malta.

I do believe that the real benefit staying here is that you have the opportunity to live and enjoy the local lifestyles. If you want large hotels, shopping malls, hectic nightlife etc.. don't bother coming because you will very very disappointed. On the other hand, if you enjoy slow paced, local bars and restaurants, meeting locals will love it.
