If you like to be in the centre of the old town with lots of pubs, architecture and fun, its great.
This place is a ton of fun and well appointed. It’s a tad noisy right now as the old blue bridge is being demolished during weekdays.
Fabulous location, nicely kept condo and responsive/flexible staff
Our family of 4 spent 4 days in this condo. It was lovely as there was enough space for everyone to have "their own space" and for us to hang out together. Location of the condo is close to just about anything - we did not need a car. Coffee stores, restaurants, malls, book stores all just minutes away. Even the Royal BC Museum was only a 15 minute walk. Only thing to be aware of is that there is pedestrian traffic on the bridge and you may feel a little exposed as the passersby can see right through - however the blinds/shades did a great job of privacy while still giving visibility to the outside. Also there are times when the boats blare their horns when the bridge needs to be raised. For the most part, my family members are not light sleepers so this did not bother them as much....in fact we enjoyed seeing the bridge lit at night and watching the sea lions playing in the water all from the comfort of the living room.
Modern, cozy and convenient!
We loved our stay in this beautiful condo! Tastefully decorated and nice views. Walking distance to amenities and sightseeing. Excellent experience.
It is a cozy place! The views are lovely and now with the bridge open it's so great for people watching and the new blue lights from the bridge are fabulous too.
Modern condo in a prime location
The Condo is good sized for family of four, very close to all the major downtown sites in Victoria, including shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay here during the Christmas holidays.
The building is an old hotel Janion completely renovated with modern amenities. The rooms are very clean and neat. The kitchen is stocked well enough to with good quality kitchenware. We could prepare complete meals, plenty for a family of 4. They have some basic cooking ingredients like salt, sugar.
The washer dryer were also conveniently inside the apartment with sufficiently good detergent to clean our laundry.
The wifi worked well and reliably. They also provided login for wifi access in public places through their internet provider which was a bonus as our phones did not have a Canadian data plan.
There are many restaurants within walking distance and the living room has a folder with all the information you would need about local contact, taxi service. BEing walking distance from many of the downtown sites and next to Chinatown, we found plenty to do without having to rent a car.
The common patio area on the top floor is a nice place for a lunch or coffee with a wonderful view of downtown Victoria.
There is no microwave inside the room but you can use the one in the public. The shared fitness room is lightly equipped. Remember to take a towel and your own drink.
Deidre was very helpful with all the tips and responsive to our questions. The condo is maintained well to make the stay comfortable.
Two things travelers should be aware of
- The apartment is below street level and right next to Johnson St bridge. The glass windows are sound proof (even with the road construction crew it was not very loud) but there are limitations on privacy.
- The requirements are for the travelers to pick up keys from another office several blocks away, which is not exactly convenient when you have arrive with luggage. WE had taken the Victoria Clipper and selected the condo since it was relatively close to the terminal. We requested Diedre and she accommodated to hand us the keys near the apartment.
Lalitha, You will be happy to hear the new bridge work is completed! We also now offer a Meet & Greet so if you prefer this option please let us know for next time. Deidre
WOW, great place
Great location with an interesting waterfront view. Apartment was new, clean and looked amazing. We watched sea otters play as we had our morning coffee. Easily walked to all the hot spots in downtown Victoria. Love Victoria with all its unique brew pubs and restaurants. Deidre was great and made our stay memorable. looking forward to coming back to stay here again.
Hi Greg, So nice you got to enjoy the otters...now if we can only get the whales to swim in front of this unit!
Come back soon! Deidre
Gorgeous condo in the perfect location
My partner and I had a lovely weekend getaway here. The condo was very modern and impeccably clean. The layout was comfortable and spacious, and came with everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen, and the WIFI speed was great as well.
It is a corner suite with huge wrap around windows, which we loved. There was a view of the active harbour which was fun, and we were able to watch the local university rowing team compete right from the living room. Despite being so close to the bridge and streets, it was very quiet. You couldn't hear the street noise at all because the glass windows are so thick that it really shuts out the sound.
The location in downtown was ideal, and we found that everything we needed was in walking distance. We went to the Tapa Bar in Trounce Alley for dinner but there are tons of amazing restaurants and pubs all around, and groceries are very close in Chinatown. A liquor store is just across the street as well.
We were worried about parking as it wasn’t included, but it turned out to be fairly easy as we just dropped off our bags from the parking lot directly beside the building, and then moved to the city parkade on Yates St. because it is free after 5pm in the evenings (first hour free) and Sundays and we were out and about during the day Saturday anyways. If I was staying during the week and had to pay for parking I would have parked in the lot next to the building as it is the same price as the parkade.
Would definitely return!! Thanks for the stay :)
Hi Paula, Thanks for taking the time to send in this note. Tapa Bar is one of my favorites too! Good observation about the noise level too, it is surprisingly how quiet it is. The developers did a great job! The view watching the paddlers go by is something very special too.
We hope you come back soon (:
