Hale Koa is located on the Windward side of Oahu, not far from the famous North Shore, one of the premiere destinations in the Hawaiian Islands, and an approximate 1-hour drive from Honolulu.
In essence, this area is the Old Hawaii of Oahu, still quiet, and reminiscent of sleepier days in Hawaiian history.
In the memoirs of Oahu's ancient history, prior to colonial influences in Hawaii, the story is told that the Hawaiians settled along the North Shore around 1100 AD. They established villages in both the Ko'olauloa and Waialua Districts alongside ocean bays, mountain valleys and streams. Rich and fertile in natural abundances, this is where taro and sweet potato were grown, also site to later missionary and colonial development.
Today, residents and visitors pay homage to the ancient times, and hold sacred all efforts to respectfully find a balance between growth, development and preservation.
The North Shore of Oahu is one of the most internationally recognized areas in the world for surfing, and ocean activities. The winter months host some of the largest and most spectacular waves known to humankind, and the summer months provide calm oceans fit for swimming and various ocean adventures. Spanning across more than 7 miles of the North Shore, enjoying vacationing in paradise at oceanfront, beachfront or mountainside villas and estates.
Get a vacation thrill out of excursions to Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, Pipeline Beach, or a day trip to the bohemian-style Haleiwa Town. While in Haleiwa, enjoy local surf culture, shopping at boutiques and art galleries, or dining at a variety of restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining.
