The Good - the condo is really very, very nice. Much roomier than the photos show. The living room has a sofa bed, settee and 2 chairs. All very comfortable. Well appointed kitchen, though we had a little trouble figuring out how to use the micro/oven, but enough dishes, glasses, pots/pans, utensils, etc. There is no pantry. 3 bedrooms - Master on the top floor is huge with King bed, large walk-in closet and bath with double sink and shower. Balcony has no view. 2nd bed has a full and twin with balcony overlooking pool and separate bath. 3rd has king, balcony overlooking pool, and bath has separate entrance in hall. All beds are foam, comfortable. The rental agency was wonderful to work with and answered all our questions.
The Bad - there is not a grill in the pool area or anywhere else that we could find which was extremely disappointing. (there is no exercise room either. It is an lounge for the residents.) Very difficult for boaters. The parking is back in a tight, fenced area. Difficult to turn around. No where to flush engine. Oh, and the yellow flies are TERRIBLE as usual! Bring spray, though I think they like it!
The UGLY - the residents were anything but friendly. We could barely get a "hello" out of anyone. Then the complaints started. The first day after being on the water all day, we parked the boats at the boat house to flush the engines. Sorry can't do that here. One women screamed at my son for "washing" his boat near the boathouse and threatened to call the police and have us "evicted"! The remainder of the time, rather than actually talking to us, residents would call the rental agency and complain that we weren't following the rules...we were parking/driving in the grass (which we didn't), knocked down a sign (?), parking at the boat house (not allowed), etc., etc., etc. The kids felt like they were being monitored at all times.
We would not recommend Pickets Landing to anyone unless you planned to stay in the condo and read all day. (BTW internet is sketchy at best).
This property was amazing, It has an excellent location as well as onsite amenities. As always Randi set me up in a wonderful home.
