Our North Pole Cabin Retreat is a great place to come for a day, a week, or a month or more. A person can experience life in Alaska in comfort. Our log cabin was built in 2002 and has had many guests over the years. We provide housing year round, and winter or summer the cabin is warm, dry, and safe. Running water is a must, as are clean comfortable beds. The cabin has two queen beds, kitchenette, full private bath, BBQ and picnic area outside. Parking is nearby. We are only 2 miles from grocery, dentist, medical, gas stations, gift shops, dining establishments, churches and bars. Although you are close to the comforts of everyday living, it will seem as if you are a long way out in the woods. We are located in a private, wooded property with a waterway flowing by. In summer there are many nesting ducks. There are many wild flowers growing all around, as well as hanging baskets of flowers we plant for your enjoyment.
North Pole Nancy Nancy Petersen
About North Pole Nancy Nancy Petersen
I was born in the Alaskan Territory and raised in this area, the daughter of early Alaskan Pioneers. My father is the first civilian to drive the Alaska Highway and he entered Fairbanks in November 1943 after a long trip up the Alcan as it was being built. He met my mother, who was here, working as a flight instructor. The two of them flew, together and separately here in Alaska. Flying became a lifetime venture, with my father, retiring in 1980 after an accident-free career in public air transportation in Alaska airspace. I, myself became a licensed pilot, but opted for a life on the ground, raising my sons and now a grandson. I enjoy earth bound things and am deeply rooted here in the 'frozen north'. As a child, I rode around with my father in a 1925 Model T Ford truck. Even now, it still runs, and I drive it for the enjoyment of the general public. Pictured here is me, and the old truck.

Why North Pole Nancy Nancy Petersen chose North Pole
I fell in love with this place because it is such a 'retreat' and so 'Alaskan'. I love the log home look and feel, and I enjoy the wooded, private environment here. The water nearby is peaceful and such a great place for the ducks to nest and raise their young. It is a peaceful place to wake up each morning and to go to bed each night. You can hear the birds singing and the chatter of squirrels, and the sounds of nature are not drowned out by the sounds of the nearby highway.

Perfect little cabin
Best vacation ever. Wonderful little cabin at North Pole, Alaska. Highlight of the trip was actually seeing the Northern Lights, thanks to Nancy (owner of the cabin). She told us of a perfect spot close by for viewing! The stay was everything we hoped for and more. The cabin had everything we needed and Nancy was always available if there was anything we needed to know.
It was nice to have you as visitors and I’m always so glad when the northern lights cooperate. It seems like most people do get lucky as long as they spend time looking. You’re a nice family with adventurous and interesting lives. It was nice to meet all of you and I hope you continue your adventures with good health and long life. Looking forward to seeing you come back in your motorhome. I hope you had a chance to go look inside my motorhome there at the end of the driveway. Save up for all that gas money you’re going to need. Best of everything to you. Glad the cabin fit so well for the three of you. The loft sleeping is a nice addition to add family.
Best Place to Stay in North Pole and Alaska in General!
It was amazing! Nancy is the best at making sure your stay at the cabin is beyond amazing, but also making sure you enjoy the sights Alaska has to offer! She pretty much leaves you alone, but is available for any help you may need. The cabin is hidden in the woods close to a river so it's amazing! And on a good day, you get a nice sky view of the Aurora! Perfect place for some time away from the big city! Nancy was so nice and great! I would recommend staying here to anyone! And I'd for sure come back to stay here when visiting Alaska.
I’m so happy you stayed here for your special vacation. I’m glad things were positive for you and I would be so happy to have you stay here agsin.. You were terrific guess, taking good care of the cabin. I’m always happy when I can assume by observation that visitors are having a good time. You seem to have enjoyed your relaxation time at the cabin as well as getting out and around to enjoy the things that our area has to offer for sights, and shopping, and nature. Best of wishes out to you for a long and happy future.
Perfect for what we needed
Nancy the owner is awesome and really helped us a lot as we needed to initially navigate our way round town. Well positioned for Santa’s warehouse, ice fishing and Northen lights trip...highly recommended if you looking to get away from hustle and bustle....
Cabin is cozy and property is beautiful
Host is very welcoming and informative. Cute furry dog on property. There are bunnies and wildlife viewing possibilities. Unfortunately we were there during hunting season. TV and indoor restroom. Full kitchen and host left coffee for us! Very comfortable.
Nancy’s cabin was absolutely beautiful. The location and whole cabin was just perfect. Very warm and cozy. Within minutes to restaurants, hikes, things to do. The inside was just so sweet, it had everything we needed and more. On top of that, Nancy’s hospitality was so warm and sweet. She gave us tips and ideas on where to go and eat. Everything was just perfect!!!
We had a great time! The cabin was great, our host was welcoming and helpful and the location was perfect!

CHRISTMAS IN ICE, a December event, is a 'must-do' as well. Here, lovely ice sculptures and slides for the kids will impress you.

Taking a DOG SLED RIDE could be one of your most interesting choices. There are a variety of choices for meeting dogs and experiencing an authentic dogsled ride. We have personal experiences with some of the local mushers and would be happy to refer you.
SPRINGTIME comes quickly, the snow leaves us, and with the long daylight hours, the grasses and flowers flourish. Everything turns green overnight and by mid-June, all around the cabins, once covered with snow, flowers cascade over the sides of planters, and wild flowers bloom as they so choose.
Our cabin windows are equipped with 'light blocking shades' for your comfort and GOOD SLEEP through the sunny nights of the Land of the Midnight Sun.
SUMMER SOLSTICE is celebrated June 21st and attendance at the MIDNIGHT SUN BALLGAME is a must. $15 for a ticket and you can watch a lively professional ballgame that starts at 10PM and finishes well after midnight on a ball field with no artificial light!
Late July, celebrates the GOLD RUSH and we have a week of games, events, and parade. Our North Pole Cabin is proud to display and drive a 1925 MODEL T FORD. This truck was purchased new and was a work truck for the local gold mining operation. It has been in our family now since 1946 and is 'held together entirely by rust'. But she runs--and has been running around this area and in the local parade every year since 1949. This year will be the the 64th consecutive tour of duty for the ol' girl. Get your picture taken sitting inside the cab or go for a ride if you can.

Sixty (60) miles from our NORTH POLE CABIN site, and an easy DAY TRIP, are HOT SPRINGS (open year round). A visit is worth the drive, and a tour of the ICE MUSEUM will be memorable. Stopping for a HIKE at ANGEL ROCKS is highly recommended (Angel Rock hike is FREE).
DENALI PARK is 150 miles from our NORTH POLE CABIN. This can be a DAY TRIP, but the best advice would be for you to plan to see the park as you come or go during your trip between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Should you want to take a QUICK TRIP to the park, it would be recommended that you at least allow 2 full days. Drive down one day and start your explorations, overnight there at the park, and continue with a big day exploring, with a late night return to our area. (Better yet, choose to return on the 3rd day of your DENALI PARK adventure).
SANTA CLAUS himself has stayed right here at our NORTH POLE CABIN, as is pictured on our website during one of his visits. This year, he is retreating with us for the whole summer, and he may be seen mowing the lawn or watering flowers. (He may or may not be wearing his red suit, but you can ask to see his drivers license, and sure enough he is the REAL McCOY--SANTA CLAUS).
