The children enjoyed playing in the garden and taking in the fresh air. A home away from home in the perfect setting. Thank you for a great stay and making the holiday unforgetable. We will miss the greenery and the British fresh air and outdoors, upon our return to sunny Dubai.
Not to worry............we will be back soon.
Many thanks and our warmest regards.
The size of the barn was something of a surprise. The accommodation is very spacious, yet we felt cosy and very comfortable throughout our stay. Everything was very clean and tidy and we were left treats of farm fresh eggs and christmas chocolates as a welcome gift.
We were looking for somewhere to have our Christmas with my mother who is unable to climb stairs and was delighted to find Vince's Barn within easy travelling distance from her home. My husband and I had come up to Essex from Hampshire and brought everything for Christmas with us in one car (quite a feat!), but were delighted to find such a well equipped kitchen. Christmas celebrations were a great success and we were able to have family members to stay together who would normally not have been able to. Additional camp beds are to be found in the bedrooms which would increase the flexibility further if required. There was plenty of parking space for our visitors throughout the festivities.
We were greeted on arrival and shown around the building and told how to turn the heating up or down. Our initial correspondence with the owner was also most helpful. Altogether, a very good find. I would recommend it to others looking for comfortable accommodation.
What a great spot. Great location, friendly owners and fresh eggs right on our doorstep. The barn was the perfect space to house two families of four, with a huge living room for us all to share. Would definitely come back.
Vinces Barn was the perfect base for our group of 8 friends over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Being a converted barn, it is very spacious—apart from the bedrooms, common areas include a large living room, two indoor dining areas, an outdoor patio with furniture and BBQ, and a lovely garden. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the farm-fresh eggs were a nice touch. The location is great for exploring nearby attractions such as Dedham Water, Flatford Mill, and the seaside at Brightlingsea. Questions for the owner were answered in full beforehand, and the property description listed here is very accurate.
The only difficulty we had was finding the property the first time. To reach the barn, it is best to follow the signs on the road for ‘Landbase Farm’ and Chickens/Eggs. Some of us followed the signs for ‘Vinces Farm’, which is a different property. Vinces Barn is the next driveway over (to the south), and the sign for the barn itself is very small and hard to spot. Once we knew which driveway it was, it was easy enough to find.
Very nice environment and clean. Big barn and cozy.
We really enjoyed the short break with family at Vinces Barn.
We stayed for 2 weeks and really enjoyed it. The barn is beautifully restored, comfortable and very spacious, clean and well-maintained, with a lovely garden. The owner was helpful and provided good service. Convenient location: peaceful and secluded but with easy access to shopping, facilities, pretty villages, great country pubs, and lots of other attractions. The surrounding area (Constable country) is gorgeous.
Located on the edge of Suffolk and Essex, Vinces Barn provides an ideal base to explore the surrounding Constable Country, as well as visit the many historic towns and villages in this part of the UK. With easy access to road and rail links to London (60 mins), it also offers an ideal base for visiting the capital.
Dedham Vale provides a multitude of ways to explore the sights of the river Stour. Local attractions include the Alfred Munnings Museum and Flatford Bridge Cottage where you can view works of famous artists from this area.
Colchester is the oldest recorded town in English history. The many local museums and attractions (incl. the restored Castle) provide a great insight into the history of the town. The historic villages and towns in East Anglia such as Lavenham, Cambridge, Newmarket racecourse and Bury St Edmunds are all within driving distance.
Frinton and Clacton beaches, award winning Colchester Zoo, Beth Chatto Gardens and Jimmys Farm are all close by.
