3 bedroom/3 bath private home with lovely garden, decks and screened lanai

Our 3 bed/3 bath home is ten to fifteen minutes from the Big Island's very best beaches. You'll find inviting indoor and outdoor spaces, a view of the Kohala Mountains, and dramatic colors at sunset. Maui (Haleakula) can often be seen looming above the horizon.

A wonderful floor plan for couples or families, the main house has 2 bedrooms, with queen beds. Bedrooms each with private bath, are located on opposite sides of the house. Pocket doors allow each bedroom/bath to be closed off for privacy. The master bedroom opens to a covered lanai. The other bedroom opens to the wrap-around deck. A third bedroom with king bed is located in a separate studio across the breezeway and includes full bathroom, kitchenette, sofa and large flat screen TV.

Along with new bamboo and tile flooring, and a pleasant color palette, you'll enjoy contemporary comfortable furnishings. Open floor plan includes kitchen, indoor dining and living area opening to screened lanai with dining set. The living room is furnished with very comfortable newer leather sectional sofa. There is a 42" flat screen TV with satellite, DVD and DVR. And of course Wi-Fi.

Towels and bed linens are newer and good quality. Beds are quite comfortable. You'll find beach towels, chairs, thermos bags, newer snorkel sets, and boogie boards. We also have a high chair and pack n' play stored in the garage.

Our kitchen, with breakfast bar, is fully equipped with coffee maker, electric tea kettle, toaster oven, blender, mini food processor, microwave, cookware and dishes, and glassware. The fridge has an ice maker. Newer gas BBQ is right outside the screened lanai. Washer and dryer are located in the adjacent garage.

Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, our home is a peaceful private oasis. Covered breezeway, two shaded lanais and wrap around deck contribute to the charming indoor/outdoor character of our home. Lounge chairs and built in bench seating are on the deck for your enjoyment. The garden is quite pretty with palms, plumeria, avocado trees. and flowering hibiscus surrounding the lawn.

Ceiling fans, a solar attic fan and good cross ventilation keep our home comfortable. Due to it's high elevation, mornings and evenings tend to be cool and comfortable.

Waikoloa Village has a full service grocery store with bakery, sushi counter and deli. There's also a gas station, coffee shop and a few restaurants. The community offers a pool, golf, tennis and riding stables. All are less than 5 minutes drive from the house.

The Waikoloa community pool includes both a very large pool for lap swimming and a large shallow kiddie pool. There are lounge chairs, a shaded area, showers, and restroom facilities.

The Kohala Coast resorts, all about 10-20 minutes drive time, offer a myriad of shopping and restaurant options. At the closest, the Waikoloa Beach Resort, you'll find the King and Queen Shops with boutiques, art galleries and a wide range of dining options. In the early evening, enjoy Hawaiian music and hula. Or skip the shops, and head out to our personal favorite, Lava Lava Beach Club at A-bay (Anaeho'omalu), for the fantastic ocean front atmosphere. Happy hour is from 3-5pm and at sunset the tikis are lit, and the live music starts. It just doesn't get any better.

Vacation like a local, take advantage of the Big Island's best beaches and other resort amenities for a fraction of the cost.

You'll find driving in our area to be a breeze, roads are great and there's never any traffic. Going to the beach you'll enjoy dramatic views of the coast and Mauna Kea and the Kohala mountains.

Centrally located, Waikoloa Village is a great home base for exploring all that the Big Island has to offer. Going north past the beaches you'll find Kawaihae Harbor with a few local restaurants and a great little place to buy fresh fish. Continue up the Kohala Coast to explore the old plantation towns of Hawi and Kapa'a. The Pololu Valley look-out is the end of the road and well worth the drive.

Kona airport is about 35 minutes to the south with Costco close-by. Kailua Kona town is another 10 minutes further south.

Waimea town, Parker Ranch and great Saturday Farmers' Markets are about 20 minutes away.

For further exploring, Saddle Road is about 10 minutes away. Taking the new Saddle Road, it's about an hour to the Mauna Kea Visitor Center and about 1.5 hours to Hilo. Volcanos National Park is under 2 hours away.

About Jane Simon

After working in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years, we retired to the Big Island in 2010 to pursue our dreams. We raise sheep and grow veggies and fruit on a small farm on the Hamakua Coast just north of Hilo.

We live here, and so appreciate all the Big Island has to offer, we're pleased to share information about all the fantastic places to explore.

After purchasing our home, we made substantial improvements before listing it as a vacation rental. We manage the property ourselves and take pride in offering a lovely home for our guests. As travelers, we've stayed in vacation rentals, with varied levels of satisfaction. Based on our experiences, we've tried to ensure we've furnished our home for a comfortable and pleasurable stay. We're very pleased with the feedback we're receiving as well as the repeat bookings.

Why Jane Simon chose Kohala Coast

We purchased our Waikoloa Village vacation home because of it's wonderful year round weather and proximity to our favorite Kohala Coast beaches. We enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters, snorkeling among sea turtles, tropical fish and colorful coral reefs. Picnicing, lounging and reading on the beach all come in a close second.

We're drawn to the home's inviting indoor/outdoor spaces. At day's end, we're on the lanai with cool drinks in hand watching the sunset colors unfold. We enjoy the mature tropical landscaping with palms, plumeria and avocado and banana.

We like having a house rather than a condominium. The location on a quiet cul-de-sac feels private. Our neighbors are full time residents. While our home is located only 35 minutes north of the Kona airport and Costco, we appreciate being away from the congestion of Kailua-Kona.

Comfortable, Convenient, Peaceful Aloha!

Excellent! You will arrive and effortlessly feel at home. Jane has carefully prepared guides and basic snorkel equipment. You can be enjoying the Big Island immediately. You can even arrive hungry. When we came the kitchen had some basic food items, rice, bread, pasta. This was very helpful for that first night. The house feels cared for and full of aloha! Jane is prompt in all of her communication and we were able to focus fully on our vacation. All I can say now is, Hana Hou!

Great value for a nice quiet family vacation.

We had a great time staying in Waikoloa over the winter break. The house is perfect for a family of four with two younger kids (ours are 10 and six, and had no problem sharing the queen bed in the second room). The house is well-stocked, very clean, and has a spacious yard and deck. It's a great location for the northern beaches, and not too long of a drive to get to Kona. Overall, it's the perfect house for the money.

Peaceful bases for exploring Big Island

Very clean, spacious, well-equipped house in quiet residential area of Waikoloa Village. Ideal location for access to both west and east coasts. Owners were responsive and helpful and it's a nice bonus that the property has boogie boards etc that kids can borrow.

Awesome, we all loved this place

The house is great, everything you could possibly want!

We traveled as 2 couples, and the floor plan is perfect for this: each couple had a bedroom (with closet) and a bathroom.

We absolutely loved being able to enjoy our meals on the porch, watch the geckos bask in the sun and listen to the birds sing.

Imagine drinking a cold beer while laying in the hammock browsing the internets! I did that! While the others were preparing the meats on the grill. Yes there is a grill.

As other reviewers already mentioned, the house has everything you need.

The owners were VERY responsive, we texted / emailed each other while on the island, they made us feel comfortable and welcome.

I cannot stress this enough: if ever I'll be on the Big Island again, this is the place I would choose.

Charming Home/Great Location

This was the first time my family and I have stayed over in Waikoloa. The house is charming, cozy and felt like home away from home. Everything you need to make your stay comfortable is there, plus, the neighborhood is very quite. You're just minutes from the beach, local farmers markets and some great eats. We had so much fun staying there and look forward in the future, to coming back again. I would highly recommend this VRBO for your next getaway!!

Great House and Location

This is an extremely comfortable house in good location away from the congestion of Kailua-Kona and the Kohala resorts. Easy access to Waimea (try Kahilu Theatre, Wednesday market at Parker Stables, and Five Mountain Fitness, tucked away behind the Tropical Dreams factory), Honokaa and Waipio Valley, or the new Saddle Rd. As well, of course, to the Kohala and Kona beaches! Owners continue to add to the enjoyable experience at this house (for the beach: plenty of beach towels, 4 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, 2 cooler bags, various toys and snorkelling equipment). There are several sets of dishes and lots of glasses along with a large capacity dishwasher so you never run out of dishes. Lots of convenience items in the kitchen (toaster oven, microwave, icemaker, good selection of knives, Cuisinart coffeemaker, blender, salad spinner, etc., plus some spices and useful, basic supplies. Newly painted exterior, new slings on screened lanai chairs, new chairs on lanai outside front bedroom. Gardeners come frequently so yard is always a beautiful tropical setting. If you plan to play several rounds of golf at the Waikoloa Village course, inquire about their 4-play card. Try the new vegan/raw restaurant, Under the Bodhi Tree (7am to 7pm), near Ruth's Chris at Mauna Lani shops. Very good even for carnivores. Stephen, the owner, was head chef at the Fairmont Orchid for many years. Jane and Peg live on the island and respond quickly to any questions; they have been great to deal with during both of our stays at this house. Highly recommend.

Notes:
While there is no AC, our home is quite comfortable temperature wise. Mornings and evenings tend to be cooler due to our high elevation. Good cross ventilation, remote controlled ceiling fans and a solar attic fan all work to keep the home comfortable.
