My husband, and I met in NY, in 1997 as he was passing through my hometown of Bronxville, NY. He was visiting a mutual friend who introduced us. We got engaged in June of 2001 (married in November of 2001). He asked me to move to North Carolina so he could be close to his son until he graduated high school in 2004. I agreed, knowing I would return to NY to visit my ailing mother and father regularly and together eventually we would move back north. We decided we should buy a home rather than rent. After 6 months of looking we both agreed we loved the rental cottage my husband was living in. Soon after his landlord called to tell us she was going to sell the cottage. Perfect! We purchased it a month after our wedding and decided we needed to up date it and do a few minor things to make it our own. 5 months later I found out I was pregnant and told my husband he needed to ask the village planner to move things along! Our renovation started when our daughter was 4 months old in late may of 2003 and was completed shortly after the birth of our son in April of 2004. So much for moving back north 2 years later as I had planned! As our kids got older and started pre-school I did not want to leave our home or all the wonderful friends we had made. Our home was perfect for our young family. Complete with a small heated swimming pool we used roughly 6 months of the year and decorated by a new york interior designer we met through an old college buddy of my husband's. As our son still loves to say the house was cozy!

As my mother's Alzheimer's was getting worse and my father was getting older I knew it was time to move north. My stepson had long since graduated from college and it was time for us to go. We now live in Westport, CT 40 minutes from my parents but go to our 'cozy' home as often as we can. We still love walks into the village and visit as many friends and favorite places as possible. As the kids say Pinehurst will always be home.

FRANCESCA purchased this cottage in 2001

Why FRANCESCA chose Pinehurst

We loved the simplicity and feel of this little home and the vision of what we wanted to turn it into. We loved the proximity to the village, spa, friends, restaurants, golf, southern pines and so much more. The best way I can describe our house is a happy house. It is an easy to live in and enjoy life cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

The kitchen is easy to use and a fun place to cook.

On a sunny morning it is great to have the screen door open and smell the fresh air either as you gaze out the window and sip your coffee at the table, or while sitting on the front porch. You can enjoy music while playing a game of pool or ping pong in the beautiful rustic game room with antique barnwood walls, or while relaxing in the pool. Enjoy a hot sauna or cuddle up with a book in front of the fire place. Grill dinner on the BBQ by the pool or sit in the sun on a hot day and watch TV from the chaise. You can do it all. This is a very casual and fun place to stay while visiting Pinehurst, great for a group of guys, a girls weekend, couples or a family.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a long overdue visit to Pinehurst to see some friends who live there. As there were 6 of us we decided it best ( in the interest of continued friendship ) to stay close by and not land on our friends. The cottage certainly lived up to and surpassed our expectations. It is beautifully appointed and decorated with style. We had a few thunderstorms and torrential rain but they soon past and didn't stop our enjoyment. We particularly loved the porch .Great place at all times of day and night to sit and chat .The boys loved the close proximity to golf and most importantly Maxie's to discuss how it had all gone .We would love to return one day ,never say never. Thanks Francesca .

Best cottage in Pinehurst

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to Pinehurst for 12 years, and this villiage home is the very best. As my friends say - it's my Happy Place. It's so well taken care of and everything just makes you feel at home. The music system in the house makes it feel like vacation all the time, and the pool is perfect for relaxing as well. And the master shower - wow! You have found rhe perfect Vaca home with this one! Enjoy!!

High school reunion golf trip

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place to stay for 4 former high school buddies 50 + years of age. Great set up with everything you need right there. The master bedroom I stayed in was literally it's own wing of the house. Best shower ever! The basement is it own apartment , and the other two bedrooms offered privacy for two more individuals. We shot pool, watched sports and hung out at the relaxing pool, after fun filled days of golf and local dining. Shared lot's of memories and just had a great time. Our choice of lodging was a big part of that.

Very nice house to stay in

  • 5 of 5

We rented and stayed here for a week and it despite the bad weather was a great place to stay. It is located within minutes of where ever you want to go. The kitchen has everything that you will ever need. I like to cook when I'm on vacation because when I am working I do not have time to cook. The King size master is comfy and we slept well. The heat pump and other things are located a long way from the bedrooms so noise is never an issue. It has a small pool that is heated and nice. The basement has a very nice pool table also. We used the home music system every day. I would have liked an IPhone MP3 wireless interface so we could have played our tunes also. Overall so much better than hotels. High speed internet was also great as I did have to keep an eye on work related issues. We will be returning this fall.

Another great stay!

  • 5 of 5

A perfect house for a reunion of women who have known each other over 50 years! Coming from Florida, Boston, and South Carolina, we gathered at Club House Cottage for three days of fun and memories. Wally, the house manager, was wonderful - after three college degreed women couldn't figure out how to fold the sofa bed, he arrived and together we solved the "problem" (user error!). This house is a great gathering place and is a wonderful home away from home. Thanks again, Francesca and Wally!

Great family to work with and wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

I'll try to make this short and sweet but with enough substance for those questioning whether to stay here or not. My colleagues and I were in town for the Pinehurst Concours and several months prior I reached out to Francesca as her number is obviously listed on the site. From the mutual connection of where we both grew up to our love for beautiful sports cars, things were off to a rocking start and never slipped up for a moment. Every bit of detail and communication was as transparent and seamless as possible. When we arrived, we met Wally the house manager who is a gentlemen and scholar in every regard. The home is lovely, it's everything and more than the pictures portray and it was also great to have use of the garage. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, but the game room with sauna was phenomenal. Francesca checked in during the trip which I was very appreciative of and we had Wally available at a moments notice. If you're looking for a fun, yet relaxing getaway this is the perfect place. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did!
