When we bought our home in 2000, we were newly married and excited about living in the hip Highland Square neighborhood. Sadly, we outgrew our charming first home with the addition of our two boys. We've always loved this house and its location, and we are excited to share it with you.
Bob Cotton purchased this house in 2000
Denver has been our home since 1994. It has gone through many changes over these years, but it still has a small town feel while offering world class arts, sports, and entertainment.
Walking distance to local restaurants and businesses--you can leave your car safely parked at the house. Cozy and charming with enough space for everyone to spread out. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon/evening glass of wine on the front porch with views of the city and the mountains.
We had a great stay at the Highlands Cottage. The house was perfect for our family, the kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved walking to different restaurants. Our only complaint is that it was HOT. The house has a swamp cooler, which did cool the house down at night. I imagine it would be effective if the temperature was in the 80s during the day. Unfortunately for us, it hit 100 twice during our week there. The high temps were just no match for the swamp cooler. We had it running constantly and opened only the windows where we wanted the cool air to go (as directed by the owner.) It still was in the 80s in the house (the highest we saw was 86 at 10 pm one evening.) Two of the bedrooms had ceiling fans which helped as the temps dropped at night. Still, during the day and evening, the house was way too warm. I went and bought a fan at Walmart to put in the living room so we could sit and watch the Copa games without sweating. We left it there so hopefully some other people get relief. Bob was responsive to our needs; however, the swamp cooler isn't the same thing as AC. Outside of the summer months, I'd highly recommend this house. In the summer months, beware!
We had a wonderful weekend in this house with our 2 small children (both under 2) and in-laws. The house itself is super charming, clean, and beautifully updated/renovated. It was perfect for small children with many accommodations provided...high chair, pack n play, toys/books. A short walk to Highlands Square which has fun bars, shopping, restaurants. Short cab ride to downtown. Bob was prompt with responses to emails. We used to live in Denver and this is a very desirable location if you are looking for a cute house very close to downtown. Would absolutely stay here again!
Home was great for us, but front yard needs to be trimmed. Had someone stop us and ask if we lived there. We said only renting for the weekend. They said they wished it was "cleaned up." Other then that, the house was clean and comfortable.
We loved the location of the house, and knew it was only 1 bathroom, but the bathroom is VERY SMALL. Have to turn sideways on toilet to shut door. The house didn't seem that clean to us. The microwave and stove had food stuck on them. Outside area was very nice!!!
We stayed @ this wonderful house for a quick girls trip weekend. It was close to so many wonderful places. The house was clean and cozy. The upstairs king bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. It was really hot this weekend, but the swap cooler worked great at cooling the upstairs. There was plenty of space for us 6 ladies and the single bathroom wasn't a problem. Bob was very easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions we had. Thanks for a great home away from home.
The house was perfect for our long weekend stay in Denver. There is plenty of space as we comfortably slept 4 adults and 2 kids. The location is near shopping in Highlands area but also a quick drive to downtown and not too far from outdoor activities such as hiking, etc. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Bob was easy to work with and made out stay very enjoyable. As an added bonus the Pro Challenge Bike race went right in front of the house! That was really cool to see. Thanks Bob! and we will be staying here in the future as we visit family in Denver often!
My house is located 3 blocks from the hip Highlands Square--restaurants, shopping, bars, coffee shops, and spas--all within walking distance. 2 miles to downtown Denver--too far to walk? Public transportation picks up a half a block away and takes you right to the heart of Denver.
