This Alpine Villa townhome is located in the heart of Ketchum, and just one minute from the River Run ski lifts! This darling unit was remodeled in 2013, and offers beautifully updated furnishings, full kitchen, and access to a community hot tub. With a unique three-story layout featuring tucked-away lofts and reading nooks, this cozy getaway is ideal for a couple's romantic retreat or a small family vacation.
Upon entering the town home from the fenced-in courtyard, there is an open living/dining/breakfast area on the ground level. On this level is a very efficient gas stove, a flat screen TV, couch and a breakfast bar (seats two). There is additional seating with a pull-out table with two more matching bar stools. The west- facing French doors bring in ample light and wonderful views of Mt. Baldy and her majestic trails.
Up a flight of stairs brings you to a bath with a walk in shower and the master bedroom. The master has a king-size bed and another flat-screen TV. Again, the majestic mountain views are visible from many windows, so you can enjoy the soul-soothing panoramas from the moment you wake up. The master has a open staircase which leads to a small office loft, suitable for an adult needing their own private space to work or read.
One more flight of stairs from the master bedroom level brings you to a small room at the top of the stair. This area has a day bed with a pull out trundle underneath, which is convertible to a king bed as well. A ladder on this level will bring you to another nook suitable for reading.
While the home is most comfortable and private for two or three guests, we have plenty of fresh linens and fluffy towels for up to four adults. Please keep in mind, though, that the second bedroom will feel considerably smaller when the trundle bed is pulled out to a king, and the home is not suitable for children under twelve due to its steep staircases and loft ladders.
This unique townhome makes a truly wonderful getaway. As you climb the stairs between floors, whimsical tree paintings accompany you; you'll immediately understand why we dubbed this home the Ketchum Treehouse!

Overall, Trail View Condo is a nice, cozy condo that is well situated between the ski resort and downtown. We were able to easily walk to the river run lodge for snowboarding and downtown for dinner in the middle of winter! The condo itself is well appointed and clean. The gas fireplace didn't work even though the property manager was very prompt to respond and tried to fix it but to no avail. The only other issue was the microwave looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. My husband had to clean it himself. Also the pots and pans could use updating but that seems to be a common problem with most condo rentals. Sun Valley touts the easy foot access to most of the activities and restaurants. That said, I'd recommend renting a car during peak season and holidays. It was really tough to find a taxi or uber, etc to take us to and from the airport or into downtown. Also the free shuttle system was too confusing and ran infrequently to make it convenient. Even the locals didn't know how to use it effectively! Plus, when it's 5 degrees, you really don't feel like walking outside for very long!
This is a lovely and well located unit. We stayed in the off-ski season so didn't benefit from its closeness to the lifts, but liked being able to walk to the center of Ketchum in 5 minutes for food shopping, bars and restaurants.
We liked this place. It was perfect for two. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go but it was a quiet location too.
We had a great time in the Treehouse. It was cleaned immaculately, the view from the second floor was impressive looking at Baldy and the condo has been thoroughly renovated throughut.
With a random 3rd floor that we never even entered, the layout is slightly quirky, but it's otherwise very comfortable, and the location is just perfect for walking to town and everywhere you could need to go.
This is our second time renting the place. The first was two years ago for our honeymoon and then for our anniversary this time. The place is so conveniently located to Ketchum. We parked on our arrival Friday afternoon and never drove anywhere again until we left Monday. Everything was in walking distance. The proximity to shopping, restaurants and other recreational activities makes this place hard to beat. The condo is clean and perfect for a couple or small family. We will definitely rent the unit again in the future if it is available when we are looking to vacation in the area.
