I grew up in Camden, just a few miles down the road from here and was lucky enough to return with my husband to raise our four children in Maine. My husband is a Real Estate Broker here in town and we are both very active in our community. This area is a truly special spot and we believe whether this is your first visit or your 100th, it won't be your last! We work very hard to make your stay enjoyable, we are accessible…you may run into us in town at Boyton Mckay or having a snack on the deck of the Waterfront. We hope to see you soon!
Kate Cohen purchased this house in 2006
A wonderful place to enjoy the ocean and the freedom for kids to play safely. The house is large without feeling too big, and it all comes together to make a wonderful place to be with family and friends.
The setting, house, views and convenient location to Camden & Belfast distinguish this home. It is simply a one-of-a-kind and provides a spectacular spot from which to base your Maine vacation.
Ocean Cottage was a great home away from home. Nice cool breezes and spacious living quarters. the garage apartment was a nice addition as well. We hope to return in future seasons.
9 of us stayed at the ocean cottage and the house never seemed small. The house was clean and stocked with essentials when we arrived. The large grass yard led to a great rocky beach that was perfect for watching the water in the day or checking for shooting stars at night.
The kitchen was ample and stocked with all the utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and plates we could need. The large stove was impressive and worked great.
The bedrooms were large and we had plenty of room in each. Our folks loved the little apartment upstairs.
The location is great. Short drives to camden or belfast for anything you'd need, and drives to further spots like rockland, elsworth, or Warren were just as easy.
The ocean cottage was a great spot for our family vacation.
This was the first time we used VRBO to arrange a week's vacation for friends from 3 continents. We had a big house-party and were glad we booked early as houses like this are hard to find.
The house was just perfect and we had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for couples, teenagers wanting space and various visitors who joined us during the week. We really appreciated the laundry room and extensive kitchen (for those who like tea there is no electric kettle!).
A lasting memory will be star-gazing in the hot tub and making smores in the fire pit looking out onto the ocean.
Thanks Kate for a great time - we highly recommend this house.
What a beautiful, comfortable house just minutes away from lots of activities. My family loved our stay. All the quality amenities made us feel as if we were in a home away from home...with a great view!
This was one of the very best vacations we have taken in a long time. We were 5 persons - myself and my wife, son and daughter in law, and our 2 year old grandaughter - AND Tucker the dog! The house is large, open, very bright and cheerful with a view of the Bay that cannot be described. The kitchen is huge and very functional. The outdoor grill is on a magnificent deck and in good working order. The large sprawling lawn and beach are wonderful especially of you have children. Home cooked fish dinners on the beach, a fire at night with wine! Not sure you can beat this anywhere. Only minutes from Camden - a beautiful small town, and Camden Hills State Park for great hiking. We fished, kayaked (2 on the property), paddle boarded, hiked and sometimes just chilled out. This house earned every star and we intend to come back.
We stayed in the last week of April. I chose this house for many reasons including its location near Camden and the national park. All the stores, restaurants and hiking we needed were within 5-10 minutes drive. there are many windows providing plenty of sunlight and to soak in the gorgeous ocean view. This home is large, comfortable, clean, modern and maintains respect for the classic Maine architecture. There is beautiful artwork decorating the walls with some pieces having their own lighting.
We had all the amenities we needed. The gas grill was brand new and I loved cooking steak while on the deck with a full view of the ocean.
We were too early for many of the shops and restaurants to be open but that also allowed us to be there before the tourist season. We got outstanding take out lobster dinners a couple of nights. Dots store is 1 minute away and has delicious freshly made pastries, sandwiches and meals you could take home to reheat. You could also eat there sitting in a laid back atmosphere with many newspapers to read. We went hiking in the park and were treated to gorgeous views of the ocean and mountains.
The owner Kate was quickly responsive to emails and unobtrusive. She was thoughtful about what we might need. She was concerned about the home being too big for us and offered us an alternative home that would have been equally as lovely, more cozy, and closer to town with views of the harbor. We preferred the more rural location on the ocean with privacy and wide open views of the water.
My Sister, who is as close as a twin to me, came in from the southern USA and I wanted to surprise her so I told her only that the house had a view of the ocean. I went up to the top of the driveway to meet her upon arrival. She pulled into the driveway and was so amazed by the house and view that she started to drive down the driveway without me. I think that sums it up nicely.
I have rented homes many times from VRBO and have found the reviews to be very important in my decision making. I highly recommend this home for rental.
Home is located in the heart of Penobscot Bay--one of the most coveted sailing areas in the world. Gaze all days at lobster boats, schooners, the Islesboro ferry, and all the nearby islands . Property offers a great home base from which to explore the Maine coast. Camden is about 7 miles away and Belfast is about 9 miles.
