We have owned our cottage on Big Bear Lake for 25 years. Our family has grown over the years, so we purchased the cottage next door for extra room for family reunions. We would be very pleased to host your family and friends in our lakefront guest cottage which has its own dock, beach, fire pit, and 150 feet of private lake frontage.
Gregg Kabacinski purchased this cottage in 2012
Big Bear Lake has a real 'up north' feel, surrounded by woods and quiet. Our 435 acre lake is crystal clear with great swimming, water skiing, boating and fishing. You will be amazed at the bald eagles and loons that frequent our lake. The loons often provide a serenade, along with the brilliance of the stars as you sit around a campfire on the beach. Oh, and don't get me going on the fishing (smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, muskie, northern pike and panfish - and I've got the pictures to prove it)!!
Our lakefront is the best, providing full sun on the beach and shade in the woods surrounding the cottage. Our location on the south side of the lake provides refreshing breezes and beautiful sunsets. We have 5 acres of private woods behind the cottage for children to explore. For our more adventurous guests there are thousands of acres of federal and state forests, and numerous rivers, within minutes of our cottage. The owner will provide maps and guidance upon request.
My wife and I decided to rent this cottage at Big Bear Lake after seeing the photos and reading the reviews on VRBO. I had not been to this area for a vacation since I was a teenager in the mid-1960's. We also brought along our oldest grandson, Brandon, who lives in New Jersey and turned 17 this summer. Brandon has been vacationing with us since he was 9. We arrived at the cottage on a sunny Sunday afternoon and fell in love with it instantly! It is everything we were looking for. This is a very comfy, quiet and well-laid-out cottage with good views of the lake. There were nice breezes day and night. The new gas stove, new refrigerator and Weber gas grill were wonderful. I used my 5-hp motor on the 12-foot fishing boat and we got around the lake with no problem. The boat is a StarCraft, in excellent condition, and is rated up to a 10-hp motor. Brandon and I caught bluegill, rock bass, large- and smallmouth bass, and walleye. We may have caught more perch and pan fish if I had taken some worms. There is a good map of the lake bottom in the cottage. We also took our kayaks with us, and they were fun to paddle, and occasionally fish, close to shore. The beach is mostly sand and small gravel, and drops off very gradually as you walk out into the water. This would make it nice for parents with small children who want to play in the lake. The dock has space for a pontoon if you were to rent one. Brandon spent quite a bit of time hiking and biking the drives and trails around the lake, and also rated his week as excellent.
Overall, this was one of our best rentals ever, and my wife and I have rented quite a few across the country. We owned our own cottage in Canada for 25 years, and this Big Bear Lake cottage is on par with that! Our thanks to Gregg for a wonderful week, and we look forward to coming back soon!
We had a great time with our two younger kids and grandparents at the lake house! Everything was clean and comfortable inside the cottage. The lake is clear and just as pictured. We had fun playing with all the toys in the shed. We also brought our sun fish sail boat which was perfect for the lake. We really liked the layout of the property with the natural setting and how quiet and secluded the woods felt. The owner was very helpful and knew much about the area. The only thing that would be nice to have is a washer and dryer.
Fabulous Experience!!! The cabin was clean, cozy and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and the owners were absolutely wonderful, sparing no expense in ensuring all guests have a wonderful stay. There was a large dock and a private beach for swimming and fishing, a charcoal and gas grill, fire pit, paddle boat, two canoes and a shed full of life preservers and inner tubes; inside there were games, cards, dice, books, and a large movie selection. Rain or shine, there was a variety of things to keep you busy. Great fishing and short drive to store.
We HIGHLY recommend this cabin and can’t wait to book for next year!
The cabin was picture perfect when we arrived! We were delighted to see how clean and well stocked it was! Since our family is a fishing family, the week was filled with catching LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of fish from pike & walleye to bluegill and bass. We rented a pontoon and also took advantage of the canoes that came with the cabin. The water of Big Bear Lake is so clean, and the beach area of the cabin was a perfect spot for the children to play and swim, and the adults to play cornhole! We have already recommended this property to friends! Thanks Gregg for the hospitality and a great family vacation! SJ Smith, Ohio
It was tough planning a fishing trip that would accommodate our family only because my Dad is so particular. He knew exactly what he wanted and said no to the first 20 cabins we looked at-- lake too big, too many big motors, too many rentals, beach not big enough, dock too small, too many steps, - then we found big bear. Dad did some research on the lake and gave me the thumbs up. What was supposed to be 2 adult daughters , 3 little boys (8,6, 5) and mom and dad (poppa and gramma) on a little week getaway turned out to include our other sister, her husband and 3 kids (9,6,4) and my boyfriend! I was a little nervous honestly. We put all the kids in the living room to sleep. Adults got the bedrooms. Sounds crazy right? ...but it worked! we spent all of our time on the water anyway. We brought a fishing boat and rented a pontoon for the week. My master fisherman father taught everyone how to fish! -- even my brother in law and boyfriend who thought they knew a thing or 2 about bass. We caught small and large mouth bass, rock bass, walleye, pike, perch, catfish, and the biggest bluegills we have ever seen. We kept a couple walleye for dinner and one 30" pike.
What was so great about Big bear is how quiet the lake was during the week. This may be the only rental property and since most people are coming up on the weekends we felt the lake was all ours.
Greg the owner is kind and so accommodating. The cabin was cozy, clean, private and well stocked. We had a wonderful, much needed vacation. We made beautiful memories. I took some incredible pics of the kids on the dock at sunset that will be framed and on a wall for years to come... And I caught my first pike!
See if you can find the honey hole ;)
Very nice week. The cabin had everything we needed. Gregg was very kind and helpful. We rented a boat from Twin Lakes Marina and had a great time. The water was refreshing and clean. Only holding back on one star because the beds were very uncomfortable, mattresses could be updated. The pull out sofa was worse. So glad we brought an air mattress. Lots of spiders! I guess that's camping for you :). Thank you Gregg! Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
