We have owned our cottage on Big Bear Lake for 25 years. Our family has grown over the years, so we purchased the cottage next door for extra room for family reunions. We would be very pleased to host your family and friends in our lakefront guest cottage which has its own dock, beach, fire pit, and 150 feet of private lake frontage.
Gregg Kabacinski purchased this cottage in 2012
Big Bear Lake has a real 'up north' feel, surrounded by woods and quiet. Our 435 acre lake is crystal clear with great swimming, water skiing, boating and fishing. You will be amazed at the bald eagles and loons that frequent our lake. The loons often provide a serenade, along with the brilliance of the stars as you sit around a campfire on the beach. Oh, and don't get me going on the fishing (smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, muskie, northern pike and panfish - and I've got the pictures to prove it)!!
Our lakefront is the best, providing full sun on the beach and shade in the woods surrounding the cottage. Our location on the south side of the lake provides refreshing breezes and beautiful sunsets. We have 5 acres of private woods behind the cottage for children to explore. For our more adventurous guests there are thousands of acres of federal and state forests, and numerous rivers, within minutes of our cottage. The owner will provide maps and guidance upon request.
My wife and I decided to rent this cottage at Big Bear Lake after seeing the photos and reading the reviews on VRBO. I had not been to this area for a vacation since I was a teenager in the mid-1960's. We also brought along our oldest grandson, Brandon, who lives in New Jersey and turned 17 this summer. Brandon has been vacationing with us since he was 9. We arrived at the cottage on a sunny Sunday afternoon and fell in love with it instantly! It is everything we were looking for. This is a very comfy, quiet and well-laid-out cottage with good views of the lake. There were nice breezes day and night. The new gas stove, new refrigerator and Weber gas grill were wonderful. I used my 5-hp motor on the 12-foot fishing boat and we got around the lake with no problem. The boat is a StarCraft, in excellent condition, and is rated up to a 10-hp motor. Brandon and I caught bluegill, rock bass, large- and smallmouth bass, and walleye. We may have caught more perch and pan fish if I had taken some worms. There is a good map of the lake bottom in the cottage. We also took our kayaks with us, and they were fun to paddle, and occasionally fish, close to shore. The beach is mostly sand and small gravel, and drops off very gradually as you walk out into the water. This would make it nice for parents with small children who want to play in the lake. The dock has space for a pontoon if you were to rent one. Brandon spent quite a bit of time hiking and biking the drives and trails around the lake, and also rated his week as excellent.
Overall, this was one of our best rentals ever, and my wife and I have rented quite a few across the country. We owned our own cottage in Canada for 25 years, and this Big Bear Lake cottage is on par with that! Our thanks to Gregg for a wonderful week, and we look forward to coming back soon!
We stayed for a weekend in November. The weather changed from 68 and sunny on Friday to 28 and snowing on Saturday! However, the cottage stayed cozy and the views were still spectacular! We found the cottage to be inviting, very clean, comfortable and stocked well (would suggest a griddle for pancakes ...)! The host, Gregg, was extremely friendly and gracious! And, he was so very helpful...we are looking at purchasing a cottage/property in the area and he offered a vast amount of information and resources to us. We would definitely come back and stay again! Thanks Gregg for a wonderful experience!!!
My wife and I had such a great time last year that we decided to stay for TWO weeks this year! Once again, our grandson Brandon (18) was with us, as well a daughter and grandson Preston (3). Improvements abound at Le 'Chet'eau Marian on Big Bear Lake! The floors are now all hardwood. A sliding glass door has been installed between the living room and deck (really SWEET). The steps to the lake have been improved, too. The fishing, hiking and bike riding was as good as last year, and I can now testify to value of having a beach that is friendly to a small child, his dog and his parents. By the end of the week, Preston was running down the dock, jumping into the lake to a waiting Brandon and then swimming to his mother. The cottage also has a new furnace and AIR CONDITIONER! While air conditioning at a cottage in northern Michigan seems almost blasphemous to me, there were two nights when we used it due to the humidity. Gregg told me that he was working on winterizing the cottage, too. How cool will THAT be?!? The thought of ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing out of Le 'Chet'eau is almost overwhelming! This Big Bear Lake property is about to become a year-round retreat for those who LOVE northern Michigan.
My husband, two daughters (14 & 12),a 2 year old lab, and myself enjoyed a one week getaway dream vacation at this cabin. We fished every morning and evening catching smallmouth bass and played in water by the dock all day😀The cabin is in such a beautiful private area that we enjoyed our evening strolls. My daughters enjoyed playing games and watching movies at night.
We will definitely be planning to revisit the cabin in the near future😀
My family and I recently rented this cabin and were not disappointed! The cabin was very clean and comfortable to stay at. The lake and beach were great. The kids loved swimming in the lake and jumping off the dock! While we weren't too successful, the lake was great to fish out of as well. All in all it was a great time and we would love to go back!
