Thank you so much for a delightful stay. My husband and I stayed during the week of the NYC Marathon as well as the election. It was so calming to be in a safe quiet location with a serene back porch and garden. My husband really appreciated the shower with the dual heads, especially post run. The subway was fast and easy to get to Manhattan but we found ourselves lingering in the neighborhood, running on the waterfront followed by babka from Mia's bakery. Trader Joe's was close by for our grocery needs and we were grateful for your handy reusable grocery totes. The bed was softer than we were used to, but I think most people prefer that memory foam top and we liked it after the first few nights getting used to it. We hope to return soon and feel it is the best place we have stayed. Also, the pizza at Sottocasa was some of the best we ever ate. We hated to leave Brooklyn!
In one word, the Brooklyn brownstone apartment is wonderful. My wife and I are just finishing a full month. Mostly, it’s just been the two of us, though our adult granddaughter did visit a few days. She used the convertible queen sofa bed.
With 2.8 million people in seventy-five square miles, Brooklyn, if it were a stand-alone city, would be the fourth largest in the U.S. It’s an area of small and distinct neighborhoods. The apartment is in Boerum Hill, which, like much of Brooklyn, has changed for the better over the years. There is a mixture of mid-sized apartment houses, brownstones – mostly broken up into several apartments, and mom-and-pop retail businesses. Smith, and Court streets – 200 and 300 yards away - are restaurant and boutique row. Atlantic – also 200 yards - is main-stream department stores and boutiques. Much of Brooklyn is not well-served by the subway, but this area is extremely well-served; three subway stops serving seven different subway lines in total are within easy walking distance. The closest stop is under 300 yards away. Times Square and Grand Central Station are 20-30 minutes away including walking time.
The neighborhood is completely safe. There is an abundance of excellent, moderately priced restaurants, two movie theaters, drug stores, bakeries, and boutiques. Gourmet coffee and ice cream – Brooklyn’s must haves – are 1-2 short blocks away. Dean Street is very quiet. In 30 days, we have never heard a garbage truck, or police or fire engine.
The building is very well-kept.
The apartment has two floors: the garden level and a below ground level. From the main level, there are windows on the street and overlooking an enclosed porch and back yard with a dining area, a bar-be-que, and very attractive landscaping. One enters into a large open area comprising an entryway, the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Cabinetry and appliances are top-of-the-line. As folks who rent by the month often, this is the best equipped and best laid out kitchen we have ever had. There are more than 30 spices, plenty of dishes, and excellent pots and pans. The dining area seats six with ease.
The bedroom has a queen bed, nightstands, and a dresser. This is the last month of our months on the road and we have a lot of luggage because we have been in three different climates. We had plenty of closet and storage space. The bathrooms are contemporary.
This is our second time staying here. It was such a welcome walking in from the heat to a spotlessly clean and cool apartment. Loved it the first time, loved it even more the second time. An absolutely fabulous home!
This is our second time staying at this residence in Boerum Hill! It is AMAZING! It is comfortable, spacious and impecably decorated. The close proximity to the F train stop gives you easy acess to Manhattan, but the Boerum Hill neighborhood offers enough in the way of local shopping, food and color to warrant its own dedicated exploration!!! Also the proximity (1.3miles) to the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge make walking into the city a leisurely option.
We recently stayed at this lovely property for the second time and it felt like coming "home." Owners Greg and Eric make every accommodation for guests, from supplying extra umbrellas to gourmet cookware to thoughtful suggestions for shopping, sights and transportation. We can't thank them enough for the spirit with which they open their home in beautiful Boerum Hill. We will be back. Louise and Marc, Santa Monica CA
