The property includes a hot tub, waterfall, two large decks, a gazebo, and bountiful gardens for guests to pick their own fruits and vegatables during growing seasons. The cabin has a full kitchen stocked with all equipment needed to prepare gourmet meals, fireplace with gas logs, queen bed with luxury bedding, large walk-in closet with dressing room, flat screen TV with satellite package, wireless internet, gas grill, and much more.
The cabin is located just minutes away from Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt Pisgah, and the Biltmore Estate. Also, there are many nearby outdoor adventure activities: hiking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, flyfishing, mountain biking, climbing, and waterfall tours.
Spend the day in downtown Asheville dining, tasting our local beers, shopping or people watching.
Great day trips to nearby small towns: Waynesville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Flat Rock, Chimney Rock, Highlands, and Cashiers. Scenic routes to each, with great lunch spots. Enjoy shopping for locally made crafts in the quaint atmosphere of small mountain towns.
Tammy is from North Carolina and has directed non-profit youth programs and a local Americorps program. She is currently on a sabbatical while starting a business to assist seniors in navigating the adventures of aging. Tammy has worked to be a good steward of the land, these mountains and our mother earth: growing her own fruits and vegetables, preserving them for the winter, recycling and composting all garbage, trying to reuse instead of buying new when possible. Efforts are always made to buy local and American made products. After a great deal of planning and hard work, Tammy is excited to invite you for a luxurious, romantic stay in the cabin!
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
Tammy planned and renovated this cabin with her own two hands over the last twenty years, while continuing to work full-time. She started the project with the goal of renovating a cabin with a small carbon footprint and utilizing many materials from the mountain. WOW, what a project! With lots and lots of hard work and the loving support of her family the cabin is ready for guests. Why the property? Tammy spent most of her childhood in this area and fell in love with the beauty and majesty of these mountains in the Pisgah National Forest at an early age. When looking to move back to the area and purchase a home in 1991, she would only look at homes in the Candler/Upper Hominy area believing this to be the most beautiful community in the Asheville area. Twenty years ago Tammy began to clear land and landscape the 4-acre property. The project was worth it---she built a mountain oasis beyond belief.
The cabin provides all of the modern comforts in a peaceful wooded setting at the base of Mt. Pisgah. The yearround views of the mountain through the large glass windows are spectacular. Couples can enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset over the mountain tops. The property is a certified wildlife habitat proving the four basic elements needed for wildlife to thrive: food water, cover and places to raise their young. The wooded canopy of oaks, poplar and maple cover the mountain view during the summer months, and provide cool shade for relaxing outside on the decks, gazebo or in the hammock beside the waterfall. The cabin is positioned so that passive solar assists the heating and cooling.
We have previously stayed at Tammy''s other cabin on two visits to Asheville. When it was already booked, we were excited that Tammy had another cabin close by, which was available. This cabin not only has all the necessary amenities but also overlooks a valley which can be enjoyed on the swinging chairs or at the bistro table. Mt. Pisgah can be easily seen from so many vantage points-the hot tub, the lower deck porch swing or inside the cabin itself. We also greatly appreciate that we can include our beagle, Etta in our vacation. We can't wait to book a return trip this summer to take advantage of the fruits and vegetables grown on the property. Thank you so much Tammy for creating such a peaceful and relaxing retreat for us!
Fantastic layout and rustic setting. Loved sitting by the fire on a cold night.
It's a beautiful place, just perfect for my husband and I (and our dog). You feel like you are in someone's well loved home, not a rental. I imagine the gardens are wonderful in season, too.
Enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Everything is provided that you need and the view was amazing. Description is accurate and all amenities were provided. Cabin was very clean and customer service excellent. I would recommend this to a couple who is looking for a peaceful, quiet setting in the mountains.
Awesome experience! Cabin is simple, clean, beautiful and stocked with everything you need. We will most definitely be returning.
There is not enough room on this computer to write about how much we LOVED staying at this cabin. All of your directions and instructions we clear and easily understood. We arrived an hour before sunset and were taken away at how cozy and peaceful everything was. The cabin was so clean and inviting. Myself, husband and my dog tater settled in quickly. We had everything we needed. The lighting outside was perfect. They cut on as soon as we walked on path and it was very helpful. We had no confusion on where front door was. The views are stunning! We spent a lot of time outside in the fun swing and tall tree chairs. The fireplace was used daily:) and the hot tub is super nice!! When we had a question Tammy was quick to respond. We drove into Asheville almost daily and the drive was 20 min so easy into town. Our stay was 5 nights and we did not want to leave. We are grateful to have experienced staying at the cabin and being able to have our pet with us. The cabin was the perfect size for us. Comfortable bed, nice size bathroom and lots of room to store clothing. The view from my pillow was wonderful looking out the window. The kitchen had everything we needed. I do suggest to read the booklet on the coffee table to find useful and helpful information about the cabin. I highly recommend this cabin! We hope to return next fall and every fall after that:)
Only 16 miles from downtown Asheville, the cabin is located beside the Pisgah National Forest. Hiking trails are abundant only minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway. March to November you can enjoy breakfast at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A favorite downtown shopping spot in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Waynseville is Mast General Store. Our favorite restaurants are the Admiral and Curate', you must make reservations early though. Other great places to dine in downtown Asheville include Limones, Salsa, Zombra, Tupelo Honey and Mela.
