Unrivaled location. Couldn't be closer to the beach, amenities, town life, Diamond Head & Waikiki. What a treat to take an evening stroll across the beach to the Kahala Resort for a drink and pupus.

If you are wanting to avoid the craziness of Waikiki and still be close to everything, this may be the place for you. This clean and simple studio is in a nice residential area, steps away from the beach and easy walking distance to shopping. Katrina was a welcoming and helpful hostess, even stocking the refrigerator with papaya, guava juice, and homemade banana bread. Although the studio is attached to the main house, it felt completely private. We loved walking to the Kahala Hotel to enjoy their amenities--the dolphin and turtle pools and great food. We especially liked their Plumeria Beach restaurant--wonderful food overlooking the ocean.
Aloha! Our first trip to Oahu was a wonderful experience in every way, and it started with our choice of lodging. Katrina is an excellent host. She was available if we needed her, but we needed nothing. Our residence was just as described. The bed was very comfortable, and we had everything we needed. We watched many sunrises at a beach that was truly a 5 minute walk down the street. We also enjoyed the serenity of the area we were located at tremendously. Katrina's place was a in a really nice location for us. We had desired to spend most of our time exploring the island (which we did), and we were far enough away from the congestion that traffic was never really a problem. We liked our stay so much that we already booked another trip there. 5 Stars

I always rate my VRBO stays on 1. The bed: 10--king size, firm, comfy. 2. The location: I like residential areas rather than commercial areas and this one was in a very well-maintained neighborhood, convenient area. Great for walking to amazing beach/surfer views at Diamond Head, Whole Foods, 1 minute from the highway for getting easy access to anywhere on the island. 3. The owner: 10. The owner, Katrina is easily accessibly just by knocking on her door, although I only saw her when I needed something. She was flexible with my check-in time because I didn't know exactly when I was arriving, she let me borrower her bike. You get the feeling of being her guest, not just a renter. And 4. Cleanliness: A 10, It was perfect. The bonus at this property was the fresh fruit she brought over when we arrived. The room is exactly as it appears in pictures. There are plenty of beach towels, a cooler and a few extras in the closet to borrow. I would definitely return, although only downside was lack of AC--which is typical on the islands for residential properties, but I happened to be in town during a heat/humidity wave. It was still tolerable though because of all the shade around the house and the fans. This property is similar to staying in a nice hotel, but much better because of the free parking for 1 car, the little extras to borrow, the feeling of being a local rather than a tourist, much less expensive and it's so easy to get around because you aren't in the downtown area fighting traffic whenever you want to get to a different part of the island.
If you're looking for a local, island experience then you must stay here. Our host was just wonderful and so accommodating even providing a laundry basket when we used the family's washer and dryer. We didn't have to pack nearly as many clothes for this trip! Mahalo for making our stay so perfect!
We are Honolulu natives who returned for a family event in January 2014 and spent 4 days here after spending the first week on the Ala Moana marina. It was a massive relief to stay in this quiet residential neighborhood. This low-key home with its typically lovely local planting is similar to the one in which we grew up: shades of small-kid-time! Walking proximity to the golf course and Waialae Beach park made driving unnecessary. The hosts are graciously available and at the same time mindful of privacy and quiet. We'll be staying here whenever we are in Honolulu.
Great property, offering privacy and convenient location, although a car is necessary. Comfortable and clean and fairly consistent with the description in the listing. Room included a refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker with coffee and tea. Only complaint is that there was no means of heating water, such as an electric kettle or microwave. Other than that, we were very happy with the property and found the owner helpful, friendly, and allowed us privacy in coming and going. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in a quiet location near both city and beaches with easy access to highways.
This location can not be beat! A 3 minutes stroll to the beach park and 2 minutes by car to Kahala Mall (a 10 minute walk) for restaurants, movies, Whole Foods, Macy's and Barnes and Noble. The Kahala Resort is around the corner for an open air drink. Waialae Golf Course is located behind the house.
Waikiki is very close by and Diamond Head is a good target for a run. Pick up a take-away meal & a bottle of wine to enjoy on the lawn under the ulu tree in your private lanai area.
