About Marc LaBrie

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and, Like any calgarian then, in the mountains, on the rivers and in the snow. Growing up here was all about being outside with your friends. I was fortunate enough to spend my summers on a lake in northern alberta with my family. It made me want to create the same kind of place for my family and friends and now I have that opportunity. Professionally, I'm an advertising and portrait photographer. We split out time ,living in Asia and Canada with other adventures making up our year.

Marc LaBrie purchased this estate in 2013

Why Marc LaBrie chose British Columbia

Sproat lake has been part of my wife's family life for more than twenty years, and thankfully mine for the last 12. Our family has a large property where we have spent our summers falling in love with everything this magical part of the world has to offer. We had always dreamed of owning one of the properties next door, scarcely believing it would ever become a reality, especially this one. Last year our dream came true when we were able to purchase our dream from a good friend and neighbour.

This is really the perfect spot. Easy access, uncrowded, there is a picture perfect stream that runs through the back of our dream lot. Holly, huge pacific cedars, a well maintained large house, and of course, in our opinion, the most beautiful lake we could find.

What makes this estate unique

When I'm not there, I miss evenings having family dinners on the 300 sqft. patio, looking out at the sunset sky. We love our summer days out on the long wharfs over calm water. There are huge window in the living room and den that look out over the lake. The windows allow the lake to be part of every minute spent here. Watching the kids and their friends play on the open lawns, the stream that cuts through the back, theres no place like it.

Fantastic summer property for a family

  • 4 of 5

Greatly enjoyed staying here as a family of 5. The dock and swimming area is worth a million. Myself and my kids couldn't get enough.

Very secluded and private yet a short 15 minutes from town to all amenities.

Sprout lake on its own is absolutely spectacular when the weather is right and the water temp is perfect.

Thanks to ash for making sure our stay was a comfortable one. He came through when we encountered a small issue and it was fixed in an instant.

The property is very spacious and comfortable and has everything you need.

We will definately be back. Thank you Labrie family for the use of your property!

One of our better VRBO vacation spots

  • 4 of 5

Nice large middle class house right on Sproat Lake with dock, large lawn to the lake, and well kept grounds. House nice and clean with nice covered deck right on the lake. TV with cable for lolling and vegetating. Very well kept with friendly and helpful manager Ash. Big clean kitchen with all supplies. Couldn't beat this spot for family and dogs. We were very impressed and we will book again. Actually I may go ahead and try to get some July time for next year while I am thinking about it. The only thing that would make it better would be to have a canoe or some sort of little boat to go out onto the lake. They do have some inflatable floaties for use though. I didn't give 5 stars only because it is not a Hilton, but a nice family house. One of the better ones we have experienced on VRBO.

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at this location. This 3 bedroom fully equipped home was perfect for us.

We spent most of our time down on the private dock or on the covered sundeck outside the kitchen.

Check in and check out was easy, no stress.

Definately be back.

Great Place!

  • 4 of 5

This was a wonderful, secluded spot on Sproat Lake with a large front and back yard. The owner was helpful and attentive and the cabin was well stocked with dishes and everything one might need. Even our old dog felt at home here! Our family would love to return next year. The photos perfectly reflect the condition of the property. The only thing I would add, is that there is Wi-Fi, but no TV or cable service (which can be a good thing) but you might want to take some DVD's with you, or use Netflix, etc., to watch the occasional movie. We ALL had a wonderful time. Thanks again, Marc, for making it a welcoming place to stay.

Excellent family destination

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is perfect for a summer family vacation! We flew in to Nanaimo and made an easy drive out to the cabin.

We we got there everything was very clean and organized. The grounds, dock, playground are all very well maintained and safe for children to run and play.

The covered deck overlooking the lake was perfect for meals and just hanging out.

There is lots of space in the house with different areas that can be closed off to block the sound if you have sleeping little ones.

We'll definitely be back. Thanks for the wonderful time!

the lakefront house is located right in the hub of all the action on Vancouver Island. At your doorstep is great wakeboarding, waterskiing, gorgeous hikes to the highest peaks on vancouver island or to easily accessible waterfalls. There is also a provincial park a short 1 mile walk that features ancient First Nations petroglyphs. There is a good local boat rental if you are looking for a ski or touring boat or even a houseboat to head out and tour the lake. On the property we have long wharfs the streatch out from the beach for excellent swimming, tan maintenance, parking the boat or watching the sun come up with a hot cup of coffee. large lawns are a great place for summer games and there is a swing set for the kids as well.

Port Alberni is world renown as the Salmon Capital of the pacific. If ocean Salmon fishing is your thing this place is a bucket list destination. During the runs, fly fishing for 30lb Steel head in the local rivers is a unique experience as well. Summer surfing in Tofino is easily accessible for beginners and there are spots most advanced riders will also enjoy. Surfing is only about an hour down the road. Lots of days you can surf a clean morning break, be back on the property for some relaxing dock time and head out for a glassy wakeboard session in the late afternoon.

With so much to do its amazing that we spend most of our days just loving life on the property. But when you see this place for the first time, you'll understand its magical draw. There are few places we have ever been that match a hot summer day sitting at the end of the docks at Sproat Lake.
