Come visit our peaceful, fun and family friendly retreat on Lime Lake in stunning Leelanau County, Michigan. Recently voted one of the world's most beautiful places, Leelanau County is known for its idyllic countryside, lakes, beaches, roadside fruit stands and beautiful scenery.
We are pleased to welcome you to our waterfront, Lighthouse inspired home. Nestled at the end of a private road on emerald green Lime Lake, the water is gin clear with depths suitable for wading and swimming (12-24 inches). The water reaches into the high 70 degree temperatures in July and August. Bring your water toys or boat and enjoy the fishing, tubing, skiing or a sunset cruise. Or relax in the sun, read and soak up the sounds of Michigan. We have a newly installed dock with a 12 x 10 foot platform at the end. There is a deck at the house that faces the lake and a firepit by the water's edge to roast marshmallows or sit by as you view the spectacular stars.
The house is extremely comfortable with a great room, open kitchen and dining area, family room loft and 3 bedrooms (King, Queen and 2 Twin over Full bunks). You can even view most of Lime Lake (and beyond) from our very own look out tower. We have two bathrooms (shower upstairs, tub/shower down) - one in the master suite upstairs and one shared downstairs.
Near miles of pristine Lake Michigan beaches on the National Lakeshore and situated almost halfway between Leland and Glen Arbor Michigan (off M-22), our home is the perfect spot for your family's vacation. We are surrounded by Sleeping Bear National Park with hiking trails, tennis, and skiing/snowmobiling in the winter months. If you are a golfer, enjoy the Manitou Passage Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer course, that is only 1/2 mile from the house.
It is a quick 25-30 minutes to Traverse City (and TC airport) where you can shop, take a sail on a Tall Ship, see a movie, attend one of its many summer festivals, have dinner or simply stroll along its main street. The Interlochen Academy for the Arts with its world renowned music and theater performances is also nearby. Michigan is becoming well known for its wineries, with more than two dozen local wineries nearby.
You will not run out of ways to relax or things to do at our special retreat.
We spent a week here and enjoyed it from the moment we arrived when our kids ran to the end of the dock and saw the clear water and then explored the top of the lighthouse. The sleeping arrangements in the bunk room worked well for our four young kids. And we enjoyed a few game nights together in the cozy loft. We appreciated the number of water toys and activities (horse shoes, kayaks, bats/balls, etc.) available for the kids. The location at the end of the quiet street suited us well -- great base for some nice running in the area. We grilled out nearly every night. A campfire at the water's edge watching the stars was a highlight of ours. Great proximity to Sleeping Dunes, Leland, the big waves at Empire, and Moomers! The owners were very attentive to our needs, requests and provided good communication. --Minnesota family of six
We had a great time on Lime Lake. What a beautiful place. The weather was great. The grandkids had a lot of fun and didn't want to leave. They loved the water and swimming.
Thanks so much for allowing us to rent your place. We made a lot of memories that our grandkids will have for a lifetime.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lighthouse home. It is in an amazing location, with easy access to all that Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and the Leelanau Peninsula have to offer.
The house is beautifully situated at the south end of Lime Lake. The dock allows children (and adults) easy access to play in the safe, shallow water. For the adults, there is a perfectly positioned fire pit that overlooks the entirety of Lime Lake, for relaxing and memorable evenings with friends and family.
It's easy to tell that the owners care tremendously about their home and the comfort of their guests. The house and property has been very well maintained, and all "convenience" details paid attention to, making your stay there as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Highlights for us included... Don Juan the lone swan, the firepit, the inflatable kayaks, the dock and easy access to safe & shallow water for our children, the convenience to everything that surrounds you in the area, the overall feeling of "getting away from it all", coyotes howling in the distance at night, bohemian beach, good harbor bay and beach, Sleeping Bear Point trail and overlook of Sleeping Bear Bay, Art's Tavern in Glen Arbor, Hop Lot Brewing in Suttons Bay, Empire Bluffs, the pizza from Peg Town Station in Maple City, and last but not least... the ring bologna from Gabe's in Maple City :)
In short... we *loved* everything about the house and our stay there. The one and only *slight* down side, that I should probably not even mention - because we knew this about the house when renting it - is that there is no air conditioning. So things get a little warm and uncomfortable on hot and sticky days. But the owners have plenty of fans throughout the house to help out as much as possible.
We're hoping and look forward to staying here again in future summers!!
This was a great location for a Fall getaway. We had 6 adults in our party and sleeping arrangements were comfortable for all. The home is beautiful and comfortable. We did a lot of cooking that weekend and the kitchen was spacious and well stocked with pans and other items needed for cooking. Owner is responsive and easy to work with. We will definitely consider this place again.
What else can be said about this wonderful place that hasn't already been said? We have rented several other home away properties, but the lighthouse is the best yet by far. The location was tranquil and the perfect place to get away from it all with our family, while still minutes to our favorite spots in Leland and Glen Arbor.
Watching the kids swim & Kayak off the dock and relaxing in the cool evenings was priceless. Owners went above & beyond to make this property and vacation memorable.
Have used VRBO on several other occasions and this is one of the best. Very nicely equipped with everything one could want. Great kitchen. Good family room area plus extra space to spread out as needed. Friendly communications from owner. Highly recommended.
