Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4) Just Over A Block From The Gorgeous Beach.

***Hurricane Irma left a few of our neighbors with some flood cleanup. Aside from our yard being less than lush since the storm, the Surf Shack, and nearby beach are in great shape! We are running a special rate post hurricane, to balance out the neighborhood cleanup. Be sure to take advantage of the rates!***

Nestled in the treetops, just over a block from Surfside Beach Park, the 'Surf Shack Vilano' offers you and your family a refuge.

Enjoy meals alfresco on the deck of this upstairs, open floor plan home. The large yard has plenty of room to kick a ball around.

Hunt for sea treasures (like pre-historic shark teeth) along our shell covered beach.

The home is so airy and bright - You'll love leaving the windows open to enjoy the salt air and hear waves crashing on a high surf day. Enjoy high speed internet while Osprey and Pelicans fly by, and be amazed by the local shore-fishermens' catch.

This house is only a few blocks, then, over the bridge to St. Augustine - You could bike there, or dolphin watch during your venture via the (bike friendly) water taxi (Waxi) at our famous fishing pier. Vilano Town Center is 6 blocks away (restaurants, bars, gas, salon +) A neighborhood park featuring tennis, and basketball courts and a playground is 1 block away.

Enjoy the beach-town lifestyle, kick off your shoes and relax!

About Surf Shack Vilano

HI! I am from Hawaii and my husband is from Minnesota. My family moved to St. Augustine eons ago, and we found it to be an enchanting town to raise our little one in.

When we aren't looking after our properties, we love exploring off the beaten path," creeking" and other outdoor activities. We are vintage enthusiasts and love a good tiki bar. I am an on-location, media hair and airbrush makeup artist and my husband is in real estate.

Surf Shack Vilano purchased this house in 2010

Why Surf Shack Vilano chose St. Augustine Area

Vilano Beach offered the layed back beach-lifestyle I grew up with - similar to a small town atmosphere, the neighbors all smile, wave and talk to you, you can walk to everything you need, and the sea treasure hunting on this beach is AMAZING!! Everything from gorgeous, huge conch shells, to shark teeth, to ship wreck items.

The stars and sky are glorious at night, and we love drifting off to sleep with the windows open. We are very close to the St Augustine attractions, but feel like we are in another world once we cross back over the bridge - Our Oasis.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location! The house is close to the beach, without suffering the noise of A1A. I adore walking and biking with my family around the island, going to the neighborhood park, then swimming at the beach! We are just over the bridge from the excitement of St. Augustine, yet it feels a world away. Multi tasking a bike ride or walk (down the beach or over the marsh boardwalk) with grocery shopping is always better than the alternative! I also love this property because it is so airy and bright. The open floor plan is great for the whole family to converse in.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it! The owner was very friendly and timely in communicating with us, the location is great, and it's a cute little house just steps from the beach! We will be back!!

The Surf Shack in Vilano was a godsend for us, having been left without use of our home due to Hurricane Irma. It's a very comfortable place, nicely appointed with everything you need to function as a household. It is located in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk to the beach, which fortunately had been left intact after the storm.

I stayed with my family for a week at Surf Shack Vilano and found it to be a very relaxing and family friendly venue. It is close to the beach and only a few miles from downtown St. Augustine. Highly recommended.

Cute, Clean, Family-friendly

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful beach vacation with our family of four (including a 2 year old and 19 month old). The house was spotless and had everything we needed. The high chair, stroller, and pack & play were an added bonus, as were the assortment of toys in the closet. The kids were playing with those within minutes of our arrival. Beach was so close that we could walk or drive depending on how much stuff we had with us. And we went back and forth multiple times in a day, including in the evening for shell collecting and watching the full moon rise! There is a small parking lot and bathrooms at the beach access just 2 blocks away. Gas station, grocery store, cute breakfast diner, and great pizza place just a minute's drive away. Also some really good waterfront dining options a few minutes away as well! We couldn't have asked for anything more for our beach weekend. Hope to return soon!

Spend days meandering down the beautiful, shell covered beach, treasure hunting for pre-historic shark teeth and other sea treasures. Horseback riding is another regular activity at our beach access. Located on the NE barrier island from historic St. Augustine, Vilano is the perfect get-away.

'Town Center' offers conveniences such as a new Publix grocery store, restaurants, dry cleaning, salon and a gas station - all within walking distance of home.

Vilano Beach is 'where the locals go' - For fun, enjoy a (bike friendly) water taxi into historic St. Augustine from our famous fishing pier. Spend time at the pier watching dolphins, fishing, or rent a jet ski from the Marina.

After a day of exploring our nation's oldest city, you will instantly relax as you head back over the ICW bridge to this quiet and tranquil oasis.
