The Hummingbird Pines House is one of very few vacation homes in Yosemite West with only two stairs into the house, making it ideal for guests of all ages. Our other house in Yosemite West is Hummingbird Raven House, listing #94764.

Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is a 25-35 minutes drive to Yosemite Valley attractions, 30 minutes to Glacier Point and 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove and Wawona. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and cross country skiing and snowshoeing - only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located close to the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

Please check availability on our calendar before contacting us.

This house sleeps a maximum of 8-10 people. We cannot accommodate more than 10 guests.

INTERNET AND CELL SERVICE: Please note that we do not have wifi, because trees around the house block satellite reception from the South sky. There is also no cell service in Yosemite West. Cell service is spotty in Yosemite Valley. There is paid wifi available in Yosemite Valley.

This is a large house (1700 square feet) so we require a minimum of 4 guests over the age of 3. Minimum stay of 2 nights.

Up to 2 children under age 3 stay free, 10% discount on one week stays. (Please let us know if any of your children are aged 3 and under when you fill out the inquiry form.)

We accept dogs on a case by case basis. We do not automatically accept all dogs. We only accept dogs who are not left untended in the house or on the deck. There is also a fee and a non-refundable pet deposit required.

The upstairs master bedroom has a king size bed and bath. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. We have an upstairs loft area with two single beds, and a fold-out sofa bed in the downstairs living area which sleeps 2. All beds have comforters and pillows.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

Like most homes in Yosemite West, Hummingbird Pines House does not have air conditioning. We do have individual room fans. Our location is 6,000 feet of elevation, so generally remains cooler than Yosemite Valley.

About Michelle and Peter

Peter and Michelle

We have visited and loved Yosemite for many years, and are thrilled to own two vacation rentals in the park.

We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, skiing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature. Please feel free to email us with questions about things to do in Yosemite!

Michelle and Peter purchased this house in 2013

Why Michelle and Peter chose Yosemite Area

Hummingbird Pines is inside the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

What makes this house unique

This house is unusual in Yosemite West for it's easy access - there are only 2 stairs leading into the house, making it ideal for family groups with elderly members. It's a beautiful, large house with a cathedral ceiling in the living room. The house has a large kitchen and dining area, a barbecue on the deck and large living room with DVD player and DVD library.

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great home! Very clean! Great way to stay inside the park and avoid the entrance lines!

Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

Hummingbird Pines was a very well equipped, clean and spacious home for our family. True to the pictures shown. The quick ride to the valley (30 minutes) was great to beat the Memorial day weekend crowd. Michelle and Peter were great to work with and always quick to get back to us with a e-mail.

Excellent location for access to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point!

  • 5 of 5

Hummingbird Pines was nicely kept, clean and functional. There was plenty of space for our group of 6 (we had 3 couples). The living room and dining area had plenty of comfortable seating. The kitchen was ready for immediate use (bring your own food ... no grocery stores in the immediate area). All the beds were comfortable and bathrooms were good. It was a great place to unplug, turn off the news and disconnect from the internet. While there isn't any cell phone service, there is a landline phone (just bring a prepaid minutes calling card in case out of area calling becomes necessary). The absence of cable/satellite TV is offset by the provided DVDs that you can watch. Excellent place to make your breakfast, spend all day exploring Yosemite and then return to discuss it all while preparing dinner. Michelle and Peter were great to work with and always responded quickly and with details as we planned our trip!

Needs light

  • 3 of 5

House is standard....comfortable, clean, not very interesting. Worst problem was light in the living room....could not read, although chairs were very inviting. Bedroom reading lights also marginal.

Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

If you don't want to stay in a tent cabin in Curry Village, why not enjoy a quiet, comfortable and warm cabin where you can cook a nice meal and sleep soundly before heading down the hill to beat the crowds to all the valley's best hikes?

Very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The property is ideal for two families and only 20 minute drive from Yosemite valley. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was nice to prepare full meals with multiple people in the kitchen. Very quiet at night and no internet connection which is nice if you don't need it. Nice deck and gas grill overlooking the trees. They provide small bottles of shampoo in each bathroom. We didn't come prepared with our own hand soap or bar soap, so we had to go buy some. I highly recommend staying here.

Owner's Response: Hi Angie - thank you for staying with us, and we're glad you enjoyed the Hummingbird Pines House. Our housekeepers have been alerted to the fact that there were no hand soaps available for you - there always should be soaps available. We are fine with our guests calling or emailing us during their stay to help with issues like this. Thanks again!

Beautiful house in Yosemite West

  • 5 of 5

Who knew that there was an amazing little community set in the middle of Yosemite? This house was absolutely perfect for our group. The high ceiling allowed for good air flow, the house is well kept and there was sufficient, level parking - a major plus. Close enough to get to the major attractions of Yosemite, secluded enough that we could retreat from the world when desired. The house comfortably slept nine adults and an infant and was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. No internet access at the house but that was one of the reasons we liked it so much! No one was looking at their phones and we were able to fully enjoy the beauty of Yosemite and just being together! Kitchen is a little dated but functional. Definitely would come back.
