Bret 3ONE8 Manzanita
About Bret 3ONE8 Manzanita
I'm a Portland based professional who first came to Manzanita in 1994. We checked out a lot of Oregon coast towns and immediatley came back to the village of Manzanita. It's the perfect size and when an opportunity presented itself to invest in a vacation rental in Manzanita - we jumped at the chance. After an extensive remodel, we're ready to share 3ONE8 with people that like high end finishes, modern ammenaties and casual surroundings. Me? I love to travel myself - did an around the world trip spring 2016. This selfie was a cool, little island in Thailand. Visited Australia, did the Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal, hung in U.A.E. for a bit, 2.5 weeks island hopping on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, a weekend in Frankfurt and finished off doing a week on Harbor Island in the Bahamas. Time waits for no one; do it now.

Why Bret 3ONE8 Manzanita chose Manzanita
The vision of the 3ONE8 remodel (interior layout designed by TVA Architects of Portland, OR) was to create a hip and fresh place for our family, friends and rental guests to enjoy in our favorite coastal town, Manzanita. We've stayed at probably 20 different short term Manzanita rentals in 'the pool' over the years. It's a crap shoot out there. And it's hard to find either brand new structures or remodels. And how did the remodels turn out and what kind of furnishings are you experiencing? I love my grandmas but I wouldn't put them in charge of decorating my vacation home - and that's what I see in a lot of the rental choices out there today. Why Manzanita? Cannon Beach is popular with a great beach - and it has a lot a big hotels, some chain restaurants and businesses and not very quaint. Manzanita is just 12 miles south and is considered more of a quaint village that's less crowded yet featuring full amenities found on Laneda Avenue including; boutique shops, restaurants, coffee houses, grocery stores, spas, cafes, wine bars and more - all locally owned and operated. Where Laneda Ave. meets the ocean is an uninterrupted, dog friendly seven mile beach with awesome views of Neahkahnie Mountain to the north. Once you park your car at 3ONE8 Manzanita - everything is walkable! Other towns: Seaside, OR is great if you like strip malls, Rockaway Beach is terrific if you like kitchsky shops on busy Highway 101 and Arch Cape is quaint but lacks any type of services. Manzanita has much more of a chill vibe - more of a locals spot with less people and crowds - yet with full services. Of course we're biased - but we did our research over 20 years ago! We visited every coastal town from Astoria down to Newport over a five year period - and liked Manzanita the best for its charm, beauty, size, services, proximity to PDX and overall vibe and feel. What makes this Cottage unique
3ONE8 is great as it's 1.5 blocks to Laneda Avenue (the main strip) with plenty of shops, coffee houses, restaurants, bars, grocery stores and more. And it's a straight shot to the beach. Additionally, the verdant views out the back onto the 6th green at Manzanita Links golf course are beautiful and very private. There are no neighbors behind you and the private back yard is a great retreat. The property is one half of a duplex and your side is very private. And for the kids it's a few minutes walk to the City Park. And, S 4th Place is very quiet with little car traffic - and on windy days down on the beach we're in our own micro-climate that's well protected. Close in yet removed. It's perfect!

Perfect for us!
While our stay was brief, we loved the one night spent in this beautiful home away from home.
It was very thoughtfully furnished with so many extras to make ones stay even more enjoyable. I loved the colorful decor ... especially the painting of Oregon above the couch. The town was so cool and surrounding beaches amazing.
We would definitely stay here again!
April was doing a SEA to SFO family road trip on the Pacific Coast Highway (101) and they chose 3ONE8 in Manzanita for night #2. She mentions how “cool” Manzanita is ... we agree. If you’re unfamiliar with the region, Manzanita is more of a quaint village than bustling tourist town with strip malls, loud teenagers, tourists and large hotels. It reminds us of a mini Carmel, CA in the 70’s ... if you get the drift; nice area, nice homes, great vibe (very chill), a main strip with boutique shops and restaurants that’s fun to walk and it leads you down to an awesome beach. And we’re just a 90 second walk away from Laneda Avenue - tucked away on a quiet side street with a private backyard that looks out onto the local golf course. The Oregon mural on the wall is a custom piece by PDX artist Chris Haberman - it turned out perfect. Team 3ONE8 Manzanita ~ it’s beautiful here ~
Perfect place for a weekend getaway
We had an incredible stay at the 3ONE8! Everything was great, from check-in to check-out. Bret was so helpful and informative, giving us all the information we needed to make our weekend seamless. This house was perfect for the four of us and our pups. We particularly enjoyed the backyard for the dogs and the view of the golf course, which had deer roaming through it each evening. We also loved how close this place is to the beach. The very quick five minute walk to the beach entrance passes by some very cute beach houses, making the stroll part of the beach experience. Bret's house is updated (heated bathroom floor) and classy, yet very comfortable at the same time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 3ONE8 and wouldn't have changed a thing. Thanks Bret!
Thanks, Cassie. It’s nice being close to the beach .... yet tucked away in our own little micro-climate amongst the trees on those windy days. And the back yard views onto the golf course ... one of the best features about the property. You’re not stuck looking at the side of someone’s house, condo or fence ... or having them look down upon your patio as you’re trying to relax with family and friends. The views are expansive and verdant; with the sounds of chipmunks playing in the trees, the local birds chirping and the ocean waves in the background. Grab a beverage, start a fire and kick up your toes after a day of sightseeing and hiking. Team 3ONE8 ~ it’s beautiful here ~
Modern, cosy cottage at perfect location
We spent 5 days at Bret's 3ONE8 cottage - everything was just amazing. We found a perfectly clean, modern and well equipped cottage in a quiet, nice neighborhood overlooking the golf course. Close to unique shops, 5 mns walk to the beach.
Thanks, Sonja - that’s a perfect description; clean, modern, well equipped, quiet & nice neighborhood, overlooking golf course, short stroll to the beach and a 90 second walk to Laneda Avenue with all the shops. Team 3ONE8 Manzanita ~ it’s beautiful here ~
A Very Pleasant Surprise!
Our first night on a week-long road trip down the Oregon coast was in Manzanita. After a day of traveling, this little gem of a stay welcomed us, and my wife and I could not have been more pleased. Bret, the owner, went out of his way to make sure our stay was as good as it gets. He's gladly willing to assist with questions and needs, but is not doting. 3ONE8 is a highly upgraded, super clean and cozy unit, complete with all the amenities, topped off with a private, peaceful view off the golf course from the dining area. We felt right at home, loved this town, would come again in a heartbeat!
I’m glad Norm mentions the peaceful views out the back slider onto the backyard and golf course - it’s quite verdant and private. And there’s a little path onto the golf course - great for evening strolls with the dog and a beverage. As long as there aren’t a lot of golfers on the course - it’s totally kosher to walk around out there around sunset time. Super clean, cozy, updated and loved Manzanita... well said, Norm, you get an A! Team 3ONE8 Manzanita ~ it’s beautiful here ~
Everything you Need
Modern, clean with comfy beds. Bret also provides extras like a day-pack which we forgot, some house coffee, shampoos and conditioner. We loved being 7 minutes away from Short Sands to get some sick surfing in.
Fiona says it best ... everything you need and nothing you don’t. The unit is dialed; everything is new, clean, modern, WORKS, equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom .... and tucked away in a great location within Manzanita just a block to the unique shops of Laneda Ave and a short stroll down to the beach. And you have your own private backyard which is terrific if you’re bringing the pooch. Team 3ONE8 Manzanita ~ it’s beautiful here ~
We had a wonderful stay at Brett’s place in Manzanita! From long walks on the beach, hanging in the sun at the local winery, fun dog shop for Chester, dancing at the local bar, buying and cooking fresh mussels and Painted Hills beef at the awesome local grocery and of course, amazing sunsets over the Pacific. We had a wonderfully absolutely fantastic time! Thank you Brett!😊
Angie and co. were great guests. Manzanita has it all - everything you need and nothing you don’t. And 3ONE8 is in a perfect location - just a block walk to Laneda Avenue and all the shops, cafes, etc and short stroll down the beach. 3ONE8 Manzanita ~ it’s beautiful here ~
