A family and pet friendly, fisherman's paradise Sherman's Resort is located 6 miles from Curtis Michigan, a 1.5 mile private drive through state land leads to a protected bay on the west end of the South Manistique Lake. Each cabin rental comes with use of individual picnic table, charcoal grill, fire pit and use of the fish cleaning house. Sherman's Resort is a park setting with children's play station as well as horse shoe pits, volleyball courts and sandy beach. From the beach, you can walk out on one of two docks and rent a boat/motor, pontoon or go for a swim. Centrally located, this resort is 75 minutes from the Mackinaw Bridge, 45 minutes to an hour from Tahquamenon Falls, Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks, Grand Moray, Kewadin Casino, Kitch-iti-kipi, Seney wildlife refuge, Oswald's Bear Ranch and many other Northern Michigan landmarks.
This cabin has 2 bedrooms with a lake view. The cabin is furnished simply with couch, easy chair, dining table/chairs and full sized beds. Also comes with complete kitchen furnished to allow cooking of complete meals. Full sized refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, four burner gas stove with oven. Bathroom with shower, gas or electric heat, satellite TV with WIFI.
Campfire wood and ice are available on the grounds as are sea doo rentals , pontoon, boats and motors.
The South Manistique lake is home to Northern Pike, Tiger and Northern Muskie, Large and Small Mouth Bass as well as Walleye, Bluegill, Perch and Crappie. The Bay is surrounded by hardwoods which make it an ideal home for Eagles, Loons and a multitude of other water fowl. The Fox River is also within an hour from Sherman's Resort where you can fish for Salmon including Brook, Brown and Rainbow with the ghost of Hemingway. The fishing is always good - especially in the spring, late summer and into the fall.
As the seasons change from spring to summer and fall so do the leaves delighting guests with their colors of gold, yellow, red and orange. The changing of the colors harkens "Indian Summer" and this is the perfect time to see Northern Michigan at its finest. Late August through September call the Perch and Walleye back to feed with the Bass, Muskie and Pike picking up mid September onward. Mid September begins the Bear, Partridge and Wood Cock season with Water fowl beginning in early October and peaking with migratory birds in mid October. October also begins bow season for Deer hunting which continues on with rifle season in November. Sherman's resort is the perfect place from which to stage your hunting or fishing expedition being surrounded by 100's of acres of State Land. Mackinaw County is ORV friendly as is Sherman's. Campfire wood and ice are available on the grounds.
Packages for available for Deer season to include pop up blinds over active deer trails.
Senior Citizen packages also available for color tours/fishing season.
Things to bring: Coffee pot filters, charcoal and lighter fluid, towels, bag chairs for fire pit, water shoes, paper products i.e. -toilet paper, large plastic bags, paper towels. Campfire wood and ice are available on the grounds as are sea doo rentals , pontoon, boats and motors.
