Quiet, peaceful in the heart of Cava country
The property is even better than what you see on line. You are surrounded by grapes vines, beautiful statues and rolling hills with trails. Totally the opposite experience of a city experience like Barcelona. This is a working class community with many Cava makers (much like Champagne). Our highlight was Ramon at Artcava where we did a three tour of the farm, Cava tasting and bottled out own. Two draw backs were that is was very difficult to find places open for dinner as we tried early and later and most where closed except during the afternoon, so ended up buying food at the local grocer for most nights. Many places even in Villafranca that showed open were not after we drove to them. Since we didn't speak Spanish we ended up going back to the grocery and gave up finding a open restuarant. Cell service was very spotty at the property itself since it sits up top of the the two local communities and no wifi, so we often times had to drive down to the bottom to get a connection. The directions were easy to follow from Barcelona to the property where the owner had a person meet us at the Church to take us to the property. We also explored some of the villages and with goggle maps not a issue finding destinations or our way back. We couldn't be happier that we ended the trip in this location.
If you want peace and quiet with a view, this is for you!
I had a wonderful stay at this peaceful and beautiful place.
This place is a gem, and Monika and Enrique were very kind and gracious hosts. If you stay, take time to view Enriques remarkable sculptures displayed over the property, in the village and elsewhere.
Beautiful and peaceful place!
We truly loved our stay in Can Maginet - it is so beautiful there, and we loved being in the countryside and near the small villages. We greatly enjoyed hiking and our views of the vineyards and sculptures. Our hosts were wonderful, and attentive to all of our needs. Be prepared that it can be over an hour's drive at times from Barcelona back to this area. It wasn't a problem for us, though, and we got to enjoy both the city and the rural areas.
Relaxing at Can Maginet
We are pleased to say that Can Maginet turned out to be one of the best vacation rentals we have ever had. The property was spotless, well equipped, and nicely furnished. Everything was first class. The frosting on the cake was the stunning sculpture installations (our host is a sculptor), the amazing views, the broad sunny terrace over the vineyards, and our friendly and helpful hosts. Monika and Enrique are the best - we were made to feel welcome and comfortable in the most gracious manner. This experience deserves a ten star rating, so I am disappointed to only leave five! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

Our best accommodation ever!
We usually make a trip with flights, car hire and accommodation for 2 to 3 times per year.
Catalonia with Penedes and Barcelona was a very positive experience.
Once we came to Can Maginet on winding roads, we found the ideal accommodation.
We've walked up the mountains on the black trail, and found very beautiful views. Castellers in Vila Franca on November 1, was a great surprise.
A visit to Simon Coll and Freixenet in Sant Sadurni gave us a taste of both chocolate and cava.
For Barcelona are the easiest way by train from Vila Franca or Sant Sadurni, well ahead Barcelona it is easy to take the Metro and bus. Best ticket option is 10-trips.

The property is located on the Garraf Nature Reserve: With an extension of more than 12,000 hectares and a radius that includes up to nine of the region’s towns, the Garraf Nature Reserve is one of the most important biological reserves in Catalonia. With a particular orography that combines the white of the limestone with low areas full of vineyards and dry stone walls, the Reserve offers a varied sampling of Mediterranean fauna and flora. With regard to the flora, fundamentally comprised of large areas of scrubland, worth noting are the palm (an almost native and abundant species in the area), reeds (a plant that is hard to find outside the Reserve) and other species of African origin. We can also find less exotic shrubs, such as the mastic or the kermes oak. The further we go into the Reserve, the scrubland makes way for woodlands. Thanks to their number and colorfulness, the Holm oak and Aleppo pine forests deserve a special mention. As for the fauna, there aren’t many species that have managed to make this area their own. We can find birds such as the blackbird and other less-known birds like the wheatear, the Ortelan bunting or the crested lark, and even the eagle or the falcon. We can also find species that have adapted their African origin to the area’s conditions: horseshoe whip snakes, vipers or salamanders. The Reserve’s geological characteristics have also led to the existence of species used to cavernous environments, for example the greater horseshoe bat. The most popular sports activity done here is spelunking, but it’s also great for climbing, trekking and mountain biking. Using the itineraries, which have different levels of difficulty, you can get to know all the Reserve’s different corners in depth. The Fondo de Vallgrassa itinerary allows you to enjoy excellent views of the massif and its surroundings, and the Masíes del Garraf itinerary takes you around the farmhouses scattered about the territory. And also in the center of the Reserve is the unique Plana Novella complex (a Buddhist Monastery). There is also a sensory itinerary for the blind, where contact with the Reserve is strengthened by working with the stimuli that senses like hearing and smell can offer. Accessible for people with functional diversity, accommodations, parking and picnic area. Travel time by car: 15 minutes. You can go: by car, on foot.
