Down a quiet country lane, surrounded by vineyard and orchard views, sits our re-modeled 1920's farmhouse. Welcome to paradise in the wine country!
Most of the property's seven acres are devoted to apple orchard and meadow. The main house consists of four spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, formal dining room and den. The kitchen is well equipped and makes it fun to feed a group indoors or outdoors. The kitchen was completely remodeled in the Spring of 2015. The house has everything you need to make your wine country vacation enjoyable. Beds and baths are appointed with fine linens. Off the kitchen, a large patio and deck provide a perfect spot for barbequeing and dining al fresco at the large teak table. Read and fall asleep in the large hammock. The location, the so-called Banana Belt, has more sun than anywhere in West Sonoma County! Days start out cool, warm up through the afternoon and then cool off again in the evening, making this a perfect climate for living inside or out.
There is a remodeled, one bedroom guesthouse with a full bath, living room, and wet bar.
A 40', solar-heated swimming pool near the main house provides a great place to cool off in the heat of the afternoon. There are two organic vegetable gardens where you can pick over 50 different varieties of herbs, vegetables and fruits for your meals (depending upon the season). Over 70 mature rose bushes around the house provide bursts of color. There is a sport court with a basketball hoop, volleyball net and lights for late evening play.
There are many fun things to do nearby. You'll be close to the greatest pinot noir and chardonnay tasting rooms of the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. Healdsburg, Sebastopol, Graton, Occidental and Forestville are minutes away by car. You will find wonderful restaurants, art galleries, and fun shops as you explore these charming towns. There are several excellent grocery stores within a few miles and the Sunday farmers' market in Sebastopol is fantastic.
The possibilities for active outdoor living are limitless! You can walk, run or bike the Joe Rodata trail or the scenic and little-traveled backroads nearby. There are four public golf courses, including a Dr. Alister MacKenzie design, a short distance away. The Pacific coastline is a beautiful drive over the hill from Graton through Occidental. Hiking beneath beautiful redwood groves or canoeing on the Russian River is 15 minutes away.
If you are looking for a special treat, you can revive yourself with a day trip to the famous mud baths in Calistoga. If you desire something closer, there are several day spas in the immediate area.
The property is very private and quiet. At night, city dwellers will be dazzled by a sky full of stars. You are away from it all and still close to everything. San Francisco is 60 miles to the south.
We purchased this lovely country house to have a way to get away from the city and the fog in San Francisco. The weather in Sebastopol is almost always delightful. We enjoy the house year-round. Green Valley Haven is unbelievably peaceful.
This house was an amazing home from home with so much to do for the kids, we hardly saw them! The house was very well equipped and even had a secret shoot for your laundry! For the kids there was the pool, basketball, tennis and pingpong. My 80 year old mother stayed in the annex house, which provided a peaceful recluse. We also enjoyed the beautiful strawberries straight from the garden. The location is amazing: a short walk and you are surrounded by vineyards with some great restaurants a short car ride away. Our party consisted of my mother, 4 adults and 4 children (aged between 8-13). The owner, Katie, was very responsive and made sure that our stay went smoothly. In summary, a wonderful retreat for all ages.
For the second year we so enjoyed this house and property. Each bedroom provides comfort and privacy, and the public spaces allow for varied activities -- games, talk, cooking and dining. We had fruits and vegetables from the gardens and lovely walks on the country road. Everyone marvels at the pool and deck space. The owners are careful to provide everything necessary and respond quickly to any unforeseen needs. Anyone who visits us there wonders how we even found something so perfect for our getaway.
We rented this beautiful home for a family get away. It was perfect! The home is lovely, with beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces. Our children loved the pool as well as the huge property with sport court and rope swing. My husband and I loved the remodeled kitchen, outdoor eating area, vegetable garden and private, serene location. We walked every morning on the quiet surrounding roads and drove the short distance into Sebastopol a few times to shop and eat. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to host extended family and friends for dinner and has the most amazing outdoor table for al fresco dining. The home and bedrooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated. There is so much to do just minutes from the home. Canoeing, biking, fishing, & shopping just to name a few. We had a variety of ages staying with us and everyone found something to do and enjoy. It was truly perfect for our family and we will definitely stay there again!
I was graciously allowed to host a small gathering of my extended family while renting this charming home. Every one of my guests expressed their love for the feel and details of the home. I was nervous about hosting a party and cooking all of the food in a kitchen I had never stepped foot in. Katie, the owner, assured me that she loved to cook and felt the kitchen would be well stocked with everything I would need. She was right. The home is a great combo of old and new. The outdoor space is amazing, very spacious and private and beautiful. The pool was very nice, not too much chlorine, and again, just beautiful. I was highly impressed with the owner's rose collection. There were many varieties, all well cared for and labeled. What a special place. We truly loved it.
This is one of the most charming houses we've ever rented-- from the beautiful colors in the house and in the garden, the bedding and the linens- it was just beautiful. Everything was perfect for a comfortable and relaxing long weekend with friends. The bedrooms are very accommodating and comfortable. The kitchen/grill is perfectly equipped with everything you could need to make a true gourmet meal. We had a party of 9 and had plenty of rooms/bathrooms and space. The pool and patio were gorgeous and the gardens are truly spectacular-- bring a camera! :) You won't be disappointed!
My spouse and I and 4 other couples stayed at this lovely farmhouse In April. Katie was extremely accommodating before and during the stay. Instructions were well laid out upon arrival and departure. The bedrooms were large sized, comfortable. The bathrooms were well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to utilize.
The grounds were well-kept and had beautiful gardens.
My spouse and I stayed in the guesthouse, which is a nice private separate structure from the rest of the house.
There is a nice table on the deck where guests can come and stay and enjoy wine in the evening.
My friends and I would have walks every morning and it is a very nice area to stay in but close enough to the local Pinot wineries we love to visit.
This is our 4th trip to Sonoma in the last 4 years and the best place we have stayed so far.
Overall 5 star place to stay and the owner is fantastic to work with.
We will definitely come back in the future!!!!
